July Mingle
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
It's time. For the sake of its future, Liyue must face unrest and a trial from the divine.

The Rite of Descension goes horribly awry, plunging the bustling harbour city into unrest and apprehension. You, Traveler, already know of the plan - but the people don't, and a good portion of them are unable to envision a world without their god. However, there are also those in Liyue who see this as an opportunity to show mortal strength. Give them your support, and the city will realize that they can move forward into the era of humanity.
While the Liyue Qixing scramble to investigate Rex Lapis' assassination, the funerary rites still have to be prepared. For this purpose Wangsheng Funeral Parlour is seeking the help of Travelers and locals alike - ritual implements, flowers, and peripherals all have to be gathered for the ceremony, and the Lord of Geo would expect only the best materials to be used. As for who's footing the bill... well, it's a good thing that you've got divine backing this time.

What will you do?
State of the World
The majority of activities for the first two weeks of July are set in Liyue and surrounding areas to gather rare historic materials for a god's funeral. Each of the special items needed for the Rite of Parting require hard work to be obtained. Characters will also be forewarned that they will need to face the Lord of the Vortex, Osial, very soon. Forneus' intention is for humanity to triumph against the god by joining forces with the Adepti and fighting together. As for what happens to Osial - should it be defeated, Forneus will ensure that it will never rise to menace Liyue again by erasing it from existence.
The success of this operation hinges on you all. Good luck.

Huh, now that you mention it... Do you know how much we'll need?
no subject
Let's just grab what we can. We can always go back later if we need more.

( she's been an absolute menace and she's very good at it! but she hates it. still, there's better things to do, like actual work. and they can both use some manner of teleportation. there's no sense in waiting around so... away she goes. )
no subject
[He won't elaborate further on that. He's sure jinx has been having mixed feelings on everything so far. So he'll just teleport after she does, reappearing once more near the inn- just far enough away to avoid being spotted by anyone. He then starts walking around, looking for Jinx]

not entirely willingly.
but jun will find her already looking for the bushes they need- or trying to? she got distracted by the sky, honestly. what is going on inside her head? emotional turmoil. it's fine. she's fine. let's go pick some flowers. )
no subject
Something catch your eye?
no subject
( she says it in a tone that implies she's not complaining, light and airy and thoughtful. and then she shakes it off, looking around again. )
So. Flowers?
no subject
[He points towards some silk flower bushes. Then, curiously:]
What wasn't what you were expecting?
no subject
( tending to flowers- even if it's just to pick them from the bush- is grounding in a sense. it feels more real than simply being, sometimes. )
Although, it's entirely possible I just didn't put thought into anything as much as I should have. ... How are you holding up?
no subject
[Ah...so that's what it is. She's having second thoughts on their role. Jun can certainly understand, though he recognizes his position is very different than hers. He's quiet for a moment as he mulls over how to respond, picking flowers in the meantime with care.]
"To do what must be done" is part of the Seal Knight's creed. I wouldn't be here if I wasn't willing to shoulder the burdens of this mission.
Though ... my position and perspective is a unique one, and not one that most people can live by.
[In other words, while he's accepted being Teyvat's villain -- he doesn't expect Jinx to be like him in that regard. ]
no subject
( there's a reason she introduces herself as a curse! although- she's been doing what she does very well, calculated and precise and effective in her timing and locations. but then, she's got practice. she's doing the job, and well!
scarily well.
... anyways. )
I've been hearing ghost stories about you. I think my favorite is the one where 'the white spirit' is a ghost from an old pirate attack. It's the most random.
no subject
[More so than him, is the unspoken words there. A creed like his...doesn't always allow such things.
But he sees a subject change, and he'll quickly jump onto it]
Haha, really? I've never heard that one before. Does that mean I'm a pirate?
no subject
jinx will remember that.... oh. okay. if she freezes at the comment for a moment, no she didn't and you didn't see anything. but, well. she changed the subject for a reason, so jinx forces herself to keep going. )
In a couple. In most, a defender of the town who died valiantly- but angry at the city for being forgotten. I heard some kids talking about trying to leave an offering to say sorry, for the record.
no subject
Is that so? Maybe they heard about Dvalin in Mondstadt and they're mixing me up for him. [Makes the most sense. Stories like this do have a tendency to get distorted] I'll have to keep an eye out for any offerings though.
no subject
I can't say that I'm familiar with that...?
( sighs, entering the world at icedeath mountain means you lose so many plot points. )
no subject
[It's rough being the late newcomer]
Dvalin's a dragon, one of the Four Winds tasked with protecting Mondstadt. About five hundred years ago, he fought another dragon that'd been corrupted. He won, but he was so wounded from the fight that he had to rest for several centuries.
By the time he woke up, it'd been so long that many people in Mondstadt had forgotten about him. Not only that, but he'd been infected by some of the corruption from that other dragon. Between the corruption and the pain of being forgotten, he flew into a rage and attacked the city.
It was up to all of us to sort everything out. In a way, you could say it was our group's first big mission in Teyvat.

still, jinx listens as they rummage through leaves for flowers, careful to not pick anything still growing. it needs time, and then in a few weeks, someone else will be here to enjoy the new blooms. )
... I can only imagine how upsetting it must have been for him. And then for the people he was supposed to protect... What happened to him?
no subject
[He says that first, since he's sure that's the big thing Jinx is worried about. ]
We were able to purify the corruption, and he regained his sanity. He flew off somewhere, but I'm sure the Ameno Archon is looking out for him.
no subject
That's good. ... I can definitely see that sort of story bleeding through the land, though. So... maybe you're right.
no subject
[He grins] I'll have to be sure to give them more fodder! It'd be cool to be a ghost story that lasts for ages!

[He grows quiet now, picking flowers. When he has a good handful, he'll speak up]
How many silk flowers do we need?
