Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Happy new year....! In Teyvat, that is. It is now January ingame, and Liyue's people go about their disaster recovery efforts with more vigour than before. After all, Liyue's biggest festival is slated to occur in the latter half of the month - the Lantern Rite!

The Rite of Parting - Rex Lapis' funeral - passes without much incident, and Liyue collectively breathes a sigh of relief. With the Fatui being chased out of the yard, it seems that peace will finally return to the harbour city as they rebuild from the storm. You'll also get to watch three million Mora's worth of incense go up in smoke, so there's that.

Eager to focus on the future, Liyue folk have begun discussing the upcoming festival. The Lantern Rite commemorates hope for a new beginning and continued prosperity, and the construction of the festival centerpiece is currently underway. This year's Mingxiao Lantern will soar into the sky amidst thousands of smaller lanterns, and it will take the shape of a fallen Adeptus to commemorate the Adepti's contribution to Liyue's lasting peace.

Unfortunately, you're not quite out of the frying pan yet. With the Fatui gone from Liyue, the Ministry of Civil Affairs turn their attention to solving another issue that has cropped up after Osial's revival and subsequent defeat. Quite a few miners have gone missing from the Chasm, and the likelihood of finding them will only grow slimmer as the days go by. Both the Millelith and the Adventurers' Guild have pitched in to search for the kidnapped people. All clues lead to Nantianmen - and it's just your luck that Geovishaps and their hatchlings have come out of hibernation at around the same time. These lizard-like beings have shells of solid rock, and they seem especially agitated at having their territory invaded. Solving the mystery of the missing miners will take more than just a day's work.

State of the World

With the Lantern Rite set to open on January 21st, all of Liyue have come to visit the harbour to set up their stalls and pitch in to craft the Mingxiao Lantern. Hopefully the miners are found before the festival begins - the Lantern Rite is a festival of reunions, after all. Not to mention the Geovishaps' increased activity will inadvertently lead to them burrowing around in the rocky mountains. There's a small, but non-zero chance of them hitting an ancient seal somewhere and unleashing a buried threat.

Unless... that was their intention all along?

[Oh god. Ohhhh g o d. Yu had made it a point to not stay inside for most of the time as to not rouse anyone's suspicions. Cleanup crew? Shouldn't be too bad, she thought.

Alas, that naive thought is dashed out the window. Buuut on the other hand, no need to buy the supplies on their own as it was provided by the Ministry! Part of her-
well, a really tiny part- is grateful for it. The task they have to do? Not so much.]

I don't know much about fixing roofs either...!

[Despite currently trying to climb up on one of the houses affected by the recent events.]

Ugh, just throw me the tool when I ask for it. You can do that much, right??

[ Trevor seems too preoccupied with a bunch of rocks and clearing rubble to respond to her immediately so there's some delay to his reply. ]

I could literally throw them at you or I could walk over and hand them to you like a normal person.

[ not this. Why's he gotta be like this. Trevor has always been somewhat difficult to deal with in some ways. He can cooperate with others except....behaving this way. It's too much to expect him to be normal. ]

[ He's chucking some tools over to Yu's general direction. Trevor has a good throw but you know she could always miss or accidents might happen. ]

[She doesn't get a chance to finish as she manages to barely catch the first one...and then manages to miss the others, save for one other. All while the ladder kind of shakes too.

Oops.]

Ugh, never mind! I take that back, let's just do it the normal way next time.

[Anyway, just gonna. Continue upwards until she's actually on the roof; once she spots some of the damaged tiles, she'll chuck them down at Trevor.]

You could have just said that in the first place.

[ He shrugs, sighs, and then walks over offering some tools instead of chucking them down. ]

We've got a job to do. So let's do it right.

I got it, I got it...

[She too sighs as she takes them and shimmies up once more. Roof-fixing is kind of hard, but she more or less manages it, before coming back down.]

Alright, that's one house done. Next one should be a few blocks down.

Sorry, I'm too stupid to count. How many blocks is a few blocks? Just lead the way for God's sake.

[ It sounds like he's talking in jest but he's also busy carrying some other materials to the next location. He can trust Yu to get to the next house for repairs. ]

[She opens her mouth, about to say something snippy- yet, she decides against it as she takes a glance over her shoulder. Yeeeah, he's got enough on his plate as it is, and Yu ain't gonna argue with that. Or that first remark...

But anyway, so it's how the rest of the day goes: shimmy up, replace the tiles, shimmy down, and then same routine onto the few other houses; and hours later, the final ~~boss~~ house stands before them, the roof looking a little more worse for wear than the others.]

Alright. Almost- [wheezing a bit because WHEW ALL THIS WORK.] -done. It's just this one left...!

You managed to do it without falling on your face or something terrible happening. I'd say that's an accomplishment.

[ Trevor isn't exactly the pinnacle of positivity nor is he good at giving praise. He's trying though? ]

[There's a slight sarcastic tone, but it's more restrained this time. She's trying as well, and so far as she's seen from him, Trevor doesn't seem like one to have secret motives, if at all. And honestly? She's grateful just for that bit.

Maybe that's why she doesn't mind being him around him too much, stink aside;anyway, Yu is taking extra care this time as she climbs up. Yet, as she reaches the damaged tiles, something catches her eye.

She grimaces.]

Goodness, this might be more trouble then we thought. The tiles aren't just damaged- there's a hole too.

[ He's way too in over his head to have ulterior motives or schemes in mind. Schemes are usually a vampire thing so Trevor doesn't do that. ]

There's a literal hole ruining our day and impending progress. What's a fucking hole doing there in the first place???

It must have been from during all the chaos weeks ago. Ugh, the absolute nerve of them...!

[She nearly turns into old lady yelling at cloud meme, but her mouth stops just halfway. No no, ranting can wait later. Right now, they've got a job to do.]

Did you remember to bring the plaster? I've heard it's needed for these types of damages.

Plaster? Fuck. Plaster...Plaster that was the one with the fucking container, wasn't it?

[ He hands her the pail of plaster and there are tools in the toolbox they can use to fill in the damaged parts. ]

That's the one, isn't it? Please tell me it is.

[With a nod, she takes the pail and continues to climb. Bit by bit, until she's nearly at the top-

...until she misses her foothold. Yu barely manages to catch a ladder rung, though at the cost of letting the pail go; it tumbles to the ground and with a loud 'splat', all of its contents spill over.

Shit.]

[ Is this real life or is this a fantasy? Trevor can feel something foreboding in the atmosphere when suddenly he hears that loud splat.

Oh my god. This is a disaster. He's always had a more pessimistic outlook on things. Even then, this wasn't something he could have imagined or predicted. ]

[ abandon all hope for ye who enter here. There's just a large frown on his face followed by a long suffering sigh. ]
