August Mingle
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Happy new year....! In Teyvat, that is. It is now January ingame, and Liyue's people go about their disaster recovery efforts with more vigour than before. After all, Liyue's biggest festival is slated to occur in the latter half of the month - the Lantern Rite!

The Rite of Parting - Rex Lapis' funeral - passes without much incident, and Liyue collectively breathes a sigh of relief. With the Fatui being chased out of the yard, it seems that peace will finally return to the harbour city as they rebuild from the storm. You'll also get to watch three million Mora's worth of incense go up in smoke, so there's that.
Eager to focus on the future, Liyue folk have begun discussing the upcoming festival. The Lantern Rite commemorates hope for a new beginning and continued prosperity, and the construction of the festival centerpiece is currently underway. This year's Mingxiao Lantern will soar into the sky amidst thousands of smaller lanterns, and it will take the shape of a fallen Adeptus to commemorate the Adepti's contribution to Liyue's lasting peace.

Unfortunately, you're not quite out of the frying pan yet. With the Fatui gone from Liyue, the Ministry of Civil Affairs turn their attention to solving another issue that has cropped up after Osial's revival and subsequent defeat. Quite a few miners have gone missing from the Chasm, and the likelihood of finding them will only grow slimmer as the days go by. Both the Millelith and the Adventurers' Guild have pitched in to search for the kidnapped people. All clues lead to Nantianmen - and it's just your luck that Geovishaps and their hatchlings have come out of hibernation at around the same time. These lizard-like beings have shells of solid rock, and they seem especially agitated at having their territory invaded. Solving the mystery of the missing miners will take more than just a day's work.
State of the World
With the Lantern Rite set to open on January 21st, all of Liyue have come to visit the harbour to set up their stalls and pitch in to craft the Mingxiao Lantern. Hopefully the miners are found before the festival begins - the Lantern Rite is a festival of reunions, after all. Not to mention the Geovishaps' increased activity will inadvertently lead to them burrowing around in the rocky mountains. There's a small, but non-zero chance of them hitting an ancient seal somewhere and unleashing a buried threat.
Unless... that was their intention all along?
Please direct all questions to August's OOC post!

[ Despite the casual tone in Susato's voice she's taken on a fighting stance with her upper body. Her arms move-in ready to strike at any moment. The young girl doesn't appear to be tall only standing at about roughly five feet. It's more than likely that Louis towers over her. ]
I sense something coming.

[ Susato is rather eccentric, and he can't help but worry about her even as she takes up a combat stance. ]
You're going to fight barehanded? You might hurt yourself. [ Saying that, he positions himself in front of her, his blade raised. ]
no subject
[ Shes's not saying that to be conceited nor is she trying to oversell herself here. Susato's a fighter and it's in her nature to not run away from a battle like this. When the Geovishaps emerge and come towards them she casually tosses it into the air. It looks like she's created an opening for Louis no matter how ridiculous it may have seemed. ]
Please state your name and occupation sir!! We must fight together.
no subject
[ What is his occupation? It's a very good question. He's not sure what to answer, since he had been a free agent back home. He can't exactly dump the situation of his home world on a stranger either. ]
I used to be a doctor in training. [ He's not lying. ]
no subject
[ She's just trying to be polite? A doctor in training is still a doctor in her eyes. ]
Although, I wonder how someone such as yourself ended up learning the way of the blade.
[ She notices that sword. ]
no subject
It's necessary for self-defense against supernatural beings in my world.
no subject
[ Suddenly it looks like she's getting a little too worked up about it. ]
I have...never encountered anything like that before in my life!
[ There was this one time when a lot of ghost stories and rumors of hauntings were going around but those ended up being actual people. ]
no subject
[ He doesn't answer her first question. There's too much gravity about the Lost's situation to be speaking about it so lightly, he feels. ]
no subject
[ She straightens herself up and nods. ]
If you don't mind me asking what's the difference between something supernatural and paranormal?
I'm not overly familiar with these terms. Previously I had only ever encountered them in books.
no subject
They seem to be two words for the same thing to me.
no subject
The paranormal is more akin to ghosts and spirits I suppose. Although, now that I'm in a world with both of these things I wonder how true it is.
[ She scratches the side of her chin curiously. ]
Was your world different than our current one? I believe it must have been.
no subject
[ A pause. ]
I suppose magic and spirits existing here would make them less paranormal and more... normal.
no subject
[ She's still being fairly open-minded to the idea of spirits, magic, and otherworldly beings. ]
My father is a highly skilled medical professor. I sometimes wonder what he might have to say about all this.
no subject
... Louis is quiet for a few moments before he speaks again. ]
We'll have to fight soon.
[ The plains of Liyue make it easy to see any approaching threats, at least. ]
no subject
[ She looks a little apologetic not wanting to burden Louis. Susato can fight but she's really not too sure about things like using visions. ]
I can help you watch the area for any surprise attacks!
no subject
[ This he says as a statement while they walk forward. Soon the earth begins to shake, and a Geovishap pops out of the ground. ]
Stay back. I'll handle it.
[ He forms a claw around his left arm, waiting to see if the Geovishap will be intimidated. Unfortunately, it isn't. ]
no subject
Are you alright Dr. Louis? Please don't strain yourself too much. I promise I'll be careful.
[ Thankfully she's got keen observation skills so she can just move out of the way if there's any incoming attacks. ]
no subject
[ And then he's off, dashing forward to engage. He parries the Geovishap's attacks, waiting for an opening. Once it pauses in its assault, he then punches it hard in the skull.
That always works, for some reason. The lizard is sent flying onto its back. ]
