August Mingle
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Happy new year....! In Teyvat, that is. It is now January ingame, and Liyue's people go about their disaster recovery efforts with more vigour than before. After all, Liyue's biggest festival is slated to occur in the latter half of the month - the Lantern Rite!

The Rite of Parting - Rex Lapis' funeral - passes without much incident, and Liyue collectively breathes a sigh of relief. With the Fatui being chased out of the yard, it seems that peace will finally return to the harbour city as they rebuild from the storm. You'll also get to watch three million Mora's worth of incense go up in smoke, so there's that.
Eager to focus on the future, Liyue folk have begun discussing the upcoming festival. The Lantern Rite commemorates hope for a new beginning and continued prosperity, and the construction of the festival centerpiece is currently underway. This year's Mingxiao Lantern will soar into the sky amidst thousands of smaller lanterns, and it will take the shape of a fallen Adeptus to commemorate the Adepti's contribution to Liyue's lasting peace.

Unfortunately, you're not quite out of the frying pan yet. With the Fatui gone from Liyue, the Ministry of Civil Affairs turn their attention to solving another issue that has cropped up after Osial's revival and subsequent defeat. Quite a few miners have gone missing from the Chasm, and the likelihood of finding them will only grow slimmer as the days go by. Both the Millelith and the Adventurers' Guild have pitched in to search for the kidnapped people. All clues lead to Nantianmen - and it's just your luck that Geovishaps and their hatchlings have come out of hibernation at around the same time. These lizard-like beings have shells of solid rock, and they seem especially agitated at having their territory invaded. Solving the mystery of the missing miners will take more than just a day's work.
State of the World
With the Lantern Rite set to open on January 21st, all of Liyue have come to visit the harbour to set up their stalls and pitch in to craft the Mingxiao Lantern. Hopefully the miners are found before the festival begins - the Lantern Rite is a festival of reunions, after all. Not to mention the Geovishaps' increased activity will inadvertently lead to them burrowing around in the rocky mountains. There's a small, but non-zero chance of them hitting an ancient seal somewhere and unleashing a buried threat.
Unless... that was their intention all along?
Please direct all questions to August's OOC post!

[ Katsuki, of course, is managing to do them just fine. Go figure. He also sounds smug, because he deserves to be punched in the face. ]
no subject
Seems not. I didn't do a lot of arts and crafts as a kid...
no subject
[ Is he...going to help or mock? Always hard to say, but he sounds matter of fact about it. ]
Curses my html
The sticks that hold up the frame. When I bend them, they keep breaking.
[either he's bending too hard, or he's bending them against the grain. It's probably a mix of both]
i mess up all the time, every day of my life...
[ Looks like he'll help out, since Jun didn't question his Obvious superiority in arts and crafts. ]
no subject
Oh!
[he wasn't expecting help, but he'll watch Katsuki's demonstration. ]
So that's why they weren't very flexible. I didn't think about that part.
[He's learning!!]
no subject
[ Don't waste the materials, they're such a pain to collect... ]
You're from another Japan, right? Been to a lot of festivals?
no subject
Just a couple really. I carved a jack-o-lantern once but that's not really the same thing.
[Since that's just about stabbing and cutting in the right spots. Which admittedly - jun is very good at]
no subject
[ He has 0 faith in them sometimes when it comes to, like, not injuring themselves doing things that are dumb. ]
no subject
Well, the blood would add to the spooky aesthetic, at least...
[Jun no.]
But I'm sure you would've noticed them missing fingers.
no subject
[ Or...lose mutated ones? Same difference. ]
Halloween big where you're from?
no subject
[Sure, he can recover from injuries most people can't. But it wasn't like regrowing limbs was easy]
Sorta? There was a festival, but it wasn't as big as I've heard it gets in other parts of the world. What about in your Japan?
no subject
[ Nearest thing would be... ]
There's always at least one haunted house as school festivals, though.
no subject
Cool! I've always wanted to go to one of those!
[For some mysterious reason none of his friends ever seem to want to take him of all people to one. How strange]
no subject
[ If they're ever super strapped for cash, there's an idea! ]
no subject
[Yeah, he seems to enjoy thinking about this]
Maybe at Wuwang Hill. There's a lot of ghost stories about that place...
no subject
[ Or just daydreaming? ]
no subject
But maybe I can find someone local who would be interested in it.
no subject
[ There's only one word for that. ]
Fuckin' nerd. [ Okay, two. ]
no subject
Haha, yep! Guilty as charged.
[NO SHAME]
It'd be fun, don't you think?
