Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Before we depart for our next destination, it seems Forneus has arranged a treasure hunt for everyone... on the beach?

Characters are now able to access the Golden Apple Archipelago, a group of islands lying far off in the ocean east of Mondstadt. Arriving first on Pudding Isle, Travelers will need to glide down from the cliffs onto the beach, where several tents and a bonfire have been set up. A handy Teleport Waypoint nearby allows for traveling back to the camp, as well as to Liyue if you need to stock up on any supplies. The sunlight is warm, the waves are clear, and the breeze is crisp - it's perfect!

A compass-shaped device nearby allows for the summoning of Waverider boats. These boats are piloted by slotting one's Vision into a slot near the steering wheel. There's a catch, though - if a Waverider is nearby, the device will not summon another. Meaning if you are traveling with a friend, there will only be one boat. Better decide who's going to drive.

Apart from the usual Elemental Monument puzzles and occasional monsters guarding chests, you can also find Echoing Conches scattered around the islands. These conches will play back voices of a bygone time when you hold them up to your ear. Many of them whisper of the people who once lived here. Thankfully, their story does not end in tragedy. You might find it rewarding to retrace their footsteps through the islands too.

Minnacious Isle seems to hold a ruin that's upside down. Investigating the monuments and various puzzles might tell you why. Forneus has left various Golden Apples hidden in chests around the islands - find them, and he promises a reward for you. Better get out there and turn over some stones!

State of the World

The Travelers' next destination is the nation of the Electro Archon. However, Forneus needs time to figure out a way to smuggle everyone in - Inazuma is under a Sakoku Decree, preventing anyone from going in and out without express authorization. However, he says he has a contact within Inazuma who can facilitate everyone's permits... but it takes time. For now, he hopes you'll enjoy your time on the islands. The oppressive atmosphere of Inazuma means relaxation won't be on the schedule for quite some time.

[ Forneus is either in his office or walking around on the beach. Maybe at the same time. It's weird. ]

August is going to be chasing Julian around as his bird is a terror, so let's also give him a puzzle to solve please!

[August finds Forneus at the office, since that's where he was told he could find him and honestly he's not all that keen on the beach anyway.

So there's a knock on the office door, and then August just waits to be allowed in.

See? He's polite!]

[Ana doesn't like the beach all that much, honestly. Water and sand? In her wings? Absolute travesty, gross, a nightmare to clean off.

It does give her ample opportunity to mess with people though. Which is why she's gonna seamlessly slide over when Forneus is near the water, sweeping him majestically into her arms -

- So she can just fucking yeet him into the water.]

[ Forneus' office looks very much like a 21st century house, equipped with modern appliances such as TV screens, a functional kitchen, and a fridge. The god himself is looking at one of said screens, watching indecipherable runes scroll past the interface relaying information that only he can understand. ]

Oh, hello. Make yourself at home. [ There's a couch for the sitting. ] What's up?

Bweh???

[ He lands in the water... not with a splash, but a bounce. Forneus skips across the water as if he was a stone and the ocean a bouncy trampoline. ]

[Okay first of all--]

Is there soda in that fridge?

[But yeah, he'll take a seat.]

You're not a demon, right?

There is. Help yourself.

[ In fact, the fridge appears to be stocked with cans of various sodas that appear to come from different worlds. ]

I'm not a demon. Here, I am the God of Time, though that's more like a job for me.

[Fuck yes, someone needs his soda fix. He's going to get right back up and get that, because he needs a soda so bad.]

I mean, I guess that's what a demon'd say but everyone else is pretty sure you're not a demon so...what are you? If you're not a demon, and "god of time" is just a job. Human with really shitty luck? Cursed clock thing? I dunno, the manifestation of one too many demonic bullets to the head?

He may come across a sort of target ring assembly floating around in the air. Investigating them will.. reveal no change, until Julian or a friend finds a red ball lying around behind a rock. August needs to throw the rock through the hoops in the right order. He may need to rearrange the hoops' heights and directions to make a proper path towards the target. Once he solves the puzzle, a chest will appear containing some Mora, various flavoured Kitkats, and a golden apple.

...is the golden apple edible or is it just a hunk of gold that looks like an apple?

Good question! I can answer this, but it'll probably take a while, so get comfy with your soda.

[ Forneus turns around so he's leaning against his console, a mysterious light glittering in his eyes. ]

Gods in Teyvat don't... start as gods? Being a god is more like a job, or a title that you take on. Each God of something takes on their aspect - what they rule over. Time is quite special. None can escape the jurisdiction of time and decay. A God of Time who comes from this world would eventually age and die... not ideal for someone meant to oversee the flow of consequentiality, isn't it? And so, the rulers of this world had to find someone who is untouched by entropy - someone who existed before time began to flow. That's me.

[A beat.

Half-muttered:]

Did not actually expect an answer that easily. [More clearly:] So the, what, gods before there were gods needed a god, so they...big bang'd you into existence or...?

I don't lie. I never do.

[ ominous ]

In the distant past, there was a realm that existed before time. Naturally, it was a perfect world, where all lived in peace and happiness - the First World. But a disaster befell that First World, shattering it into uncountable pieces. The shards of the First World became the seeds that would grow into countless new realms, each with their own people and own rules.

[ Forneus makes a sweeping gesture. ]

As for the inhabitants of the First World... most of them died. Some chose to visit the new worlds and bring unto them the tragedy that befell their home world. Others journey through the stars, seeking an explanation, a meaning for their shattered existence. And as for me? I am a nice person, so when the gods of this world asked me for help, I lent a hand. So here I am.

[Elliot had been thinking of visiting Forneus to thank him, but before he does that- he spots him on the beach]

Oh hey Forneus! You're outside your office!

Obviously it wasn't perfect if there was a disaster... So you're from this...First World?

I am. Our race did not have a name, but it required one after the Fall. We call ourselves the Primogenitors.

Yo.

[ He gives Elliot a quick wave. ]

It's nice to be out in the sunshine. Ahh, seeing it through the console doesn't compared to the real thing.

[He'll approach] Aha, yeah. Computers really aren't the same thing as going outside.

[Speaking of...]

Though I wasn't expecting to see you out here. Zhongli made it sound like you couldn't. [He follows up quickly] N-Not that I'm not happy to see you, of course!

He's right. I couldn't. Well, not until you killed Osial. I took his authority of manifestation.

[ ominous ]

I have you to thank for that!

His "Authority of Manifestation"...?

[The frick frack does that mean. Did you steal his godly permit what even Forneus]

[ Sure did! ]

His permission to appear in the physical world. I'm one of the few gods who don't have it originally... for obvious reasons.
