October Mingle
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
The Miko of the Grand Narukami Shrine has arranged for your passage out of Ritou and into the Inazuma islands at large. The nation has been gripped by an oppressive atmosphere ever since the enactment of the Vision Hunt Decree, and only someone unyoked by the Electro Archon can hope to break this stalemate.

Konda Village sits on the outskirts of Inazuma city. A pillar of its community now seeks to move out after losing his Vision. A samurai employed by the Shogunate is being accosted of hiding rations by his neighbours, and he has no recollection of ever dealing in such matters. Forgetting something seems to be the thread that links every former Vision holder's story together, yet their tragedies differ greatly in circumstance. Is the loss of a Vision truly so profound? If so, then why did the gods deliver such a poisoned gift to their people?

A mysterious priestess approaches you with a sincere request - Kazari seeks your aid in purifying the Thunder Sakura around Inazuma, as well as the Sacred Sakura on Mount Yougou. She tells you that these trees absorb the evil from the very land, but cannot dispel it without outside intervention. Here's where you come in: you need to dispel the sealing sigils around the holy trees, so that the filth accumulated within their roots can take form and then be swiftly cut down.
The seals, the trees, and Kazari herself are relics from the olden days - the mystical Inazuma, where kitsune and tengu lived and worked alongside humans and their god. But those days have since ended, and all that is left is a stifling eternity.
State of the World
The Land of Eternity is not without failings. By pursuing 'Eternity' and closing the doors of her nation, the Raiden Shogun has only made the lives of her people more difficult. Exploring the country may give you some clues as to how you can break her enforced stasis. You must first understand the situation of the nation, and then find the natives who also wish to change their world.

It doesn't seem likely that this person is a local, but she can't trust "her" regardless.]
...Does it, though?
You have one as well, if you are who I imagine you must be. [Another traveler, she means.] And you have doubtlessly seen what becomes of those who lose these.
You must have wondered the same: "what becomes of us if we should lose ours?"
no subject
I have.
["She" gives Ris a look of casual appraisal.]
I also know Forneus is not the type to give us things that could harm us that easily. He does not see us as tools, much less expendable ones.
[There's a gravity to the tone that says just how vitally important Sooga considers this.]
no subject
At the mention of Forneus, though, Ris' demeanor visibly shifts, and she looks a bit ashamed.]
That is...
No, I do not believe that Master Forneus would intentionally hurt us like that. I know that we have been given these because they are tools required for us to carry out his wishes, and I trust that he would protect us from any damage they could do to us if he were able.
[She sounds very certain of that, at least. For someone who literally just got here, seems like she's pretty fond of Forneus.]
But...
I cannot help but worry. A vital tool though it may be, does it not seem as if it carries a part of our soul? Are we not chained to it?
I have no objections to carrying out whatever Master Forneus wishes. Such were the conditions for my freedom, and I accepted that willingly. But I cannot bring myself to trust these Visions. Not when I have seen what damage they can bring.
no subject
Understood. If it's that large of a concern, I will make sure no one has the chance to take it from you when we're in the same area.
no subject
...You would just offer that offhand, knowing nothing about me? Not even a name by which to summon me from a crowd?
[Her left eye narrows.]
Do you really think me that much of a fool?
I do not doubt any choices Master Forneus has made, and in that regard I will work alongside you as I have been instructed. But I am not so stupid as to entrust myself to someone so frivolously.
1/2
So you have some iron in you after all! Good.
2/2
A lot of our group really is that blindly trusting though. They're in this for lofty ideals, like freeing the land from tyranny or such things. I'm here because Forneus is paying me to make sure our idealists don't become easy targets.
[A pause to quickly look around to make sure nobody that isn't one of the travelers is within earshot, and then quietly, so nobody but Ris can hear:]
...Due to how this place is, I can't give you a proper introduction until we're no longer in the open, but while I appear like this, call me Nana.
no subject
So this person feels the same way she does! They're just going about it a different way. Ris can understand that. She's personally pretty much done with playing nice if she doesn't have to, but she can understand why that wouldn't apply to everyone.
And she understands even more when they elaborate that they're just here for the money. That, too, makes sense to Ris. No sane person would do anything without getting some sort of kickback for it.
It's enough to actually get her to relax just a little, a tiny smile gracing her lips.]
...While you appear like this. So you can appear differently? [She gives "Nana" another once-over, this time actually analyzing "her" appearance.] ...that will be a fun game, I think. To see if I can spot any tells.
I have nothing to hide, from these people or anyone else. As such: my name is Ris.
It is a pleasure to be working alongside you, "Mistress Nana."
no subject
A pleasure to work with you too, Miss Ris. It's good to see someone taking that initiative on their own.
...But please, call me "Miss" or "Blademaster" Nana if you must use titles. "Mistress" is too close to the title reserved for the head of my clan, and I don't wish to disrespect him like that.
no subject
Just "Ris," if you please.
[But, as for the request:]
I can accept that. "Blademaster" is a wonderfully terrifying title, anyway.
no subject
You're an odd girl. You'll fit in well with the rest of us, I think. Welcome to the team, Ris.
no subject
But thank you. I do believe I will like it here.
