Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
The Miko of the Grand Narukami Shrine has arranged for your passage out of Ritou and into the Inazuma islands at large. The nation has been gripped by an oppressive atmosphere ever since the enactment of the Vision Hunt Decree, and only someone unyoked by the Electro Archon can hope to break this stalemate.

Konda Village sits on the outskirts of Inazuma city. A pillar of its community now seeks to move out after losing his Vision. A samurai employed by the Shogunate is being accosted of hiding rations by his neighbours, and he has no recollection of ever dealing in such matters. Forgetting something seems to be the thread that links every former Vision holder's story together, yet their tragedies differ greatly in circumstance. Is the loss of a Vision truly so profound? If so, then why did the gods deliver such a poisoned gift to their people?

A mysterious priestess approaches you with a sincere request - Kazari seeks your aid in purifying the Thunder Sakura around Inazuma, as well as the Sacred Sakura on Mount Yougou. She tells you that these trees absorb the evil from the very land, but cannot dispel it without outside intervention. Here's where you come in: you need to dispel the sealing sigils around the holy trees, so that the filth accumulated within their roots can take form and then be swiftly cut down.

The seals, the trees, and Kazari herself are relics from the olden days - the mystical Inazuma, where kitsune and tengu lived and worked alongside humans and their god. But those days have since ended, and all that is left is a stifling eternity.

State of the World

The Land of Eternity is not without failings. By pursuing 'Eternity' and closing the doors of her nation, the Raiden Shogun has only made the lives of her people more difficult. Exploring the country may give you some clues as to how you can break her enforced stasis. You must first understand the situation of the nation, and then find the natives who also wish to change their world.

[Ris is definitely caught off-guard by being caught, but Louis' demeanor is at least a little comforting. It's enough to make her think maybe she can worm her way out of this, at least.]

Ah, that is... n-no, I am just looking around!

[She holds up her hands defensively, offering a smile and a nervous little laugh that's just a hair off of being genuine. Like someone who's practiced something in private but never actually pulled it off in a real world setting.]

A-Although, it does seem as if I keep seeing your face about! You do not particularly blend in with the locals... are you, perhaps, a traveler like myself?

[She is trying so hard to keep her voice sounding peppy. She's hoping it'll help with her cover.]

[ There is, sadly, no cover to be had, especially because she's by far not the first person to try spying on him and not be caught. Still, there's no reason for him to chide her on that. ]

Yes, I am from outside. But I do have a permit.

[ You know, in case any eavesdropping samurai wants to put him in jail. ]

Are you lost?

Ehehe. As do I.

[She'd rather like to not go back to being locked up, too, so she'll play along.]

And since neither of us are from around here... I suppose we are probably equally "lost." I will admit I do not have the best grasp of the city layout just yet.

But, like I said... I am just looking around. I have a bit of free time between tasks I have lined up for today.

[That's not a good lie for a number of reasons, not least of which being she doesn't know what the average person's daily tasks are. But she's not saying that out loud, not until she's called on it.]

I thought perhaps it would be a good idea to try to accustom myself to this place, since I do not know how long I shall be here.

[ Louis can relate in some ways. Living in a post apocalyptic world and then suddenly being transported to a world where people led normal lives is jarring. That, and the fact that most of the natives are humans... he treated that as a challenge to his self-control. ]

Most people here live while adhering to their traditions and customs. As if their god also wishes for their quaint way of life to remain the same for all of eternity. You don't see many people eager to leave or talk about foreign things.

Mm, I get the same impression.

Although, I wonder, is that truly such a bad thing? To wish for all your days to be simple and calm, to always know what it is you have to do? A bit boring, perhaps, but it is better for one to be bored than to have their whole life potentially disrupted and torn apart. Besides, one can get used to anything, given time.

Were it not for the fact that their god seems to be actively disrupting lives to achieve their wish, I would say it is something I myself might aspire to.

[ Louis is quiet for a few moments, wondering if he should comment. He knew that nothing would last - such was the nature of time itself. His world had been peaceful, before the arrival of the horrors turned everything upside down. Humans did nothing to provoke their invasion, nor did they know where the monsters came from. It was a disaster without any rhyme or reason. ]

Change or no, nobody should be forced to suffer for the sake of another.

[ He folds his arms. His crimson eye shines with a resolute light. ]

That's what we're here to change.

That much, I can agree with you on fully.

[She's deadly serious with that.]

Simply because I might desire such a simple life does not mean I can abide anyone— mortal, divine, or what have you— inflicting such pain.

I will fight to my dying breath to change it, if that is what I must do. I can agree with the concept, but the execution is unforgivable.

[ That gets his serious expression to lighten up a little. ]

That's good. The world needs more people who are willing to fight rather than stand by and abide injustice.

[ The Revenants who joined his team all aspired to this standard, and it was why they were able to change their world. It was not without sacrifice, though. ]

We've talked at length, but I don't even know your name. I'm Louis.

Ris. A pleasure to make your acquaintance, Master Louis.

[As if calling someone by that title is the most natural thing in the world.]

You know, I had been hoping that following you might give me some insight into the average schedules of those of us in Master Forneus' employ, something I might emulate, but...

Ehehe. You are a bit of an odd one, you know? [That's seemingly not meant as an insult, given her tone.] I cannot say I have gleaned much in the way of data, but I have enjoyed our conversation.

I'm not the best observation subject, in that case. I mostly operate by myself. [ Which is one of the reasons why he was able to pick her out, scent aside. ] You could ask one of the more [ human ] sociable Travelers, if you want?

[The red-eyed girl might think that's awesome, which is a questionably good result?]

If I ask, people will deviate from their normal schedules to attempt to accommodate me. That introduces a bias into my data.

[She sighs.]

...Although, perhaps that is not as big of a deal as I was initially concerned. If my attempts thus far have taught me anything, you are all a bit odd in your own ways.

I suppose we are, especially since we are from different worlds.

[ He folds his arms. ]

Since you have been following me, I feel it appropriate to tell you why you may be cautious of being around me. I am similar to what most people would understand to be a vampire.

[ And thus the necessity of restraining himself from the instinct to hunt humans in his vicinity. ]

True enough. Still, one would think that a bunch of humanoids all presented a similar scenario would fall into something of a pattern!

[But... oh! Louis may be surprised to see Ris actually light up a little at that.]

Ah, really? Fascinating...

[...Ahem. Control yourself, Ris.]

Erm, that is. I shall keep your warning in mind. However, being that we are all on the same team, so to speak, I imagine you and I will be crossing paths many times in the coming days regardless of whether or not I choose to be cautious.

It is probably a good thing that Master Forneus has promised to keep our lives intact, should I choose to push my luck.

[ That was.... not the response he was expecting. Other people have accepted his warnings, but Ris seems interested.... like she wanted to study him? He supposes meeting a species out of a storybook might have that kind of effect. ]

I won't hurt you. I'll make sure of that.

[That's pretty much it. Ris has read her fair share of stories, what with her previous master being obsessed with the supernatural. Seeing one of those supernatural beings in person? Who is telling her he won't hurt her?

This is the best day ever.]

Ehehe, I do appreciate it! But do not worry too much about me.

I will keep myself out of the way of harm. I have seen too much of it before arriving here in Teyvat to seek out more.

[ This seems a normal enough reply, so he'll nod and leave the subject. ]

I'm going to look at the Thunder Sakura. Do you want to come?

[ He trusts Ris to not blow herself up while he's trying to do what Kazari told him to. ]

[Hmmm.

On one hand, outside scary. And while vampire cool, how can she be sure if she can trust?

On the other hand... she really does need to get out there. That's why she's here, after all. And it's probably safer having someone else at her side than it would be going alone.

...Gives her something else to focus on other than the unrelenting panic of Being Outside, too. So.]

I had been meaning to look into that request, as well. I would be happy to accompany you.

Alright. Let's go then.

[ Luckily (or unluckily) for her, Louis is a quiet person who doesn't talk unless he thinks there's something important to be said. He continues on the road to the beach, feeling the sea breeze blow over them both as they descend. ]

It's supposed to be in a cave within the cliffs. [ So they don't need to swim. The sand is a hassle, though. ]

[It's a bit of both.

On one hand, it's awkward not speaking, and Ris almost wonders if she should speak up. But on the other, it's not much different than what she was already used to from outside of Teyvat.

She sticks close, but she's definitely looking around at her surroundings with no small amount of awe. Every once in a while she winds up trailing a bit behind Louis, getting distracted by some plant or outcropping of rock, but she's always quick to run and catch up.]

...I suppose my mental visual for what a cave is like may be a bit distant from reality. I had not been aware trees could grow within them, but I suppose it makes sense.

Perhaps if the cave was big enough. If a source of underground water is present, and enough light from a hole above, then many plants could grow within.

[ Which this one certainly is. He read about entire cave ecosystems that existed in the Old World. Though, this cave has the help of Teyvat's elemental energy density as well. ]

The electricity levels here are quite high... [ But it's something he can solve. Concentrating Geo energy in his hands, he conjures a crystal shield around them both. ] Watch your step.

I see...

[She sounds so impressed, though. She is living off of finding out all of these cool new things in a mostly safe environment!

...But ah, speaking of safe. Electricity. Great.]

Noted. I will make a point of not using my Vision, then. I do not wish to fry us both.

[Instinctively, though, she readies her hand near a holster at her thigh. What good will the knife do here? Likely not much, but she isn't willing to let Louis cover for her completely.]

That would be wise.

[ Louis, being a Geo Vision user and someone accustomed to fighting with a blade, should have no problems. No blood magic this time, because his Gift affinity is towards fire. ]

Seems like we'll need to do something with these patterns.

[ Inside the torii-shaped structure is the image of a sakura flower and connected lines. ]
