Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
The Miko of the Grand Narukami Shrine has arranged for your passage out of Ritou and into the Inazuma islands at large. The nation has been gripped by an oppressive atmosphere ever since the enactment of the Vision Hunt Decree, and only someone unyoked by the Electro Archon can hope to break this stalemate.

Konda Village sits on the outskirts of Inazuma city. A pillar of its community now seeks to move out after losing his Vision. A samurai employed by the Shogunate is being accosted of hiding rations by his neighbours, and he has no recollection of ever dealing in such matters. Forgetting something seems to be the thread that links every former Vision holder's story together, yet their tragedies differ greatly in circumstance. Is the loss of a Vision truly so profound? If so, then why did the gods deliver such a poisoned gift to their people?

A mysterious priestess approaches you with a sincere request - Kazari seeks your aid in purifying the Thunder Sakura around Inazuma, as well as the Sacred Sakura on Mount Yougou. She tells you that these trees absorb the evil from the very land, but cannot dispel it without outside intervention. Here's where you come in: you need to dispel the sealing sigils around the holy trees, so that the filth accumulated within their roots can take form and then be swiftly cut down.

The seals, the trees, and Kazari herself are relics from the olden days - the mystical Inazuma, where kitsune and tengu lived and worked alongside humans and their god. But those days have since ended, and all that is left is a stifling eternity.

State of the World

The Land of Eternity is not without failings. By pursuing 'Eternity' and closing the doors of her nation, the Raiden Shogun has only made the lives of her people more difficult. Exploring the country may give you some clues as to how you can break her enforced stasis. You must first understand the situation of the nation, and then find the natives who also wish to change their world.

[Jun goes quiet for a moment, thinking. The way Rean describes it...thinking back, it was true that Kou and the rest of the XRC did seem to get closer the longer they worked together. Not only that, they gave each other strength, allowing them to overcome obstacles that would even give seasoned professionals trouble.

[it hadn't always been completely intentional, but there was no denying all the times he held himself back away from everyone. At the time, he had a dozen rationales. But now, looking back on everything, they didn't seem to hold up so well]

No, it's not that. I know they'd accept me. I was the one always being standoffish, looking back.

[There'd been loads of opportunities for him to reach out, and he'd keep passing up each one.]

It's just ... Kou's club, the XRC, only formed to investigate the unusual Eclipse activity in Morimiya. But now that it's been resolved, there won't be a need for it anymore. Most of them are planning to return to their normal lives. And once I get a new mission, I'll be leaving Morimiya.

...I missed my chance, in other words.

[Oh. That... does put a damper on things. Rean brings a hand to his chin, thoughtfully.]

That... does make it difficult, yeah. But... I don't know.

Maybe I'm just overly optimistic, but I don't think it's all just over. Just because the adventure of the moment is dealt with doesn't mean another won't come up. And just because everyone's going their separate ways for now doesn't mean you can't still keep in contact.

And besides... it doesn't really need to be combat that brings people together.

Have I ever told you about the concert my class put on at the school festival?

[He raises an eyebrow a little]

Not sure I'd call "hoping for another Eclipse event" as being optimistic.

[He isn't mad or anything, he's just saying. Eclipse bad. Hoping for it real messed up even to him. But he'll hear out the rest.]

A concert? No, I don't think so.

That's not what I'm saying. I mean, yeah, I know I was just talking about a civil war, but not every adventure needs to be under such dire straits.

That's why I asked about the concert. So, for our school festival at Thors, each first-year class puts together an exhibit or a show and all the attendees vote on which class performed the best.

For ours, we wound up putting together a rock concert. And... listen. Elliot aside, none of us were particularly talented musically when we finally landed on that plan. But you wouldn't believe how much we were whipped into shape by the practice sessions.

And at the time, it seemed like... well, "a lot" is an understatement. We were running ourselves ragged. But when we put on that show, it was worth every second.

That kind of thing... I think that's an adventure, too. And even if you don't have a school festival or anything like that, who says you can't just make your own adventures?

The real point is working together on something, in the end. It doesn't have to be some calamity. It doesn't even have to be a big deal to anyone but you guys.

[Oh well, okay that sense. He listens, a thoughtful expression on his face as he thinks it over]

Hmm...I think I get what you're getting at. We have a school festival too, so I guess I could try to put more effort into helping out this year if I'm still around. Though it won't be a concert like what you guys had.

[It wasn't like he slacked last year. He just did the bare minimum that he was required. Or rather, he made sure to do more than Ryouta who did slack so Ryouta would get chewed out and not him.]

And...I can't join Nemesis like Hiigari wants, but I guess I could offer to work with her more in the future. Hokuto too, I know she's been hoping for that.

[Look at him, actually considering not being an introverted recluse. You love to see it]

And when you do have to head off for your next mission... just keep in contact when you can. There's always the option to get together again in the future, and in the meantime... I know a call from a friend is always a welcome surprise for me. I'm sure your friends would feel the same.

[He nods. Seems he is starting to feel a little better now that he's seeing options rather than doom and gloom. ]

True. With the technology in my world, it's pretty easy to keep in touch no matter where you are. It should be easy to find a way to do that.

Yeah! Haha, if what August says is any indication, I bet you have way more options than I do for that sort of thing.

We just got this thing where it lets us see each other while we're talking on the phone. The whole thing feels like magic to me, if I'm honest.

Listen. Orbal technology is not my thing. I help out with the computer classes, but that's just... basic typing and program usage. I rely on my friends for everything else.

The Orden is very old fashioned compared to the outside world with technology, but I managed to learn how to use modern tech just fine. [Ok so he's no hacker or anything, but he's still good enough with tech to pirate anime!! ] Sounds like you just need to apply yourself more.

[He'll make a show of sighing about it, but it doesn't actually bother him that much. He'll learn when it becomes an actual issue, okay!!

No, I'm familiar with magic-infused tech. [...Alright, he'll clarify] Ok, I don't use it much, but I know about it. Some other groups in the Underground use it in their own dealings.

But I get what you're saying. On Earth, you and your friends would be called "beta testers". People who test out new technology before it's released to the public at large. It's impressive you get to do that!

I guess that makes enough sense. You deal with something otherworldly, you have to make use of the otherworldly for yourself.

So another part of the reason we had royal backing during the war is that my class was pretty much the Prince's pet project. And we kind of still are, so I think he just likes having us test out ideas for him.

But I can't really complain when it's something like this, can I?

[He nods] Something like that. Many groups have different views on what should be done about the Eclipse. So some will develop magical tech just to help make dealing with it easier, while ones that favor researching or using the Eclipse tend to develop a lot of stuff to see if they can.

[Schmidt would fit right in with Nemesis just saying. But also damn Rean. Favored by a prince that gives you shiny new tech? He's favored by God and he don't get perks like that, what the hell.]

...Yeah, I'd say you definitely can't complain about that.
