October Mingle
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.

The Miko of the Grand Narukami Shrine has arranged for your passage out of Ritou and into the Inazuma islands at large. The nation has been gripped by an oppressive atmosphere ever since the enactment of the Vision Hunt Decree, and only someone unyoked by the Electro Archon can hope to break this stalemate.

Konda Village sits on the outskirts of Inazuma city. A pillar of its community now seeks to move out after losing his Vision. A samurai employed by the Shogunate is being accosted of hiding rations by his neighbours, and he has no recollection of ever dealing in such matters. Forgetting something seems to be the thread that links every former Vision holder's story together, yet their tragedies differ greatly in circumstance. Is the loss of a Vision truly so profound? If so, then why did the gods deliver such a poisoned gift to their people?

A mysterious priestess approaches you with a sincere request - Kazari seeks your aid in purifying the Thunder Sakura around Inazuma, as well as the Sacred Sakura on Mount Yougou. She tells you that these trees absorb the evil from the very land, but cannot dispel it without outside intervention. Here's where you come in: you need to dispel the sealing sigils around the holy trees, so that the filth accumulated within their roots can take form and then be swiftly cut down.

The seals, the trees, and Kazari herself are relics from the olden days - the mystical Inazuma, where kitsune and tengu lived and worked alongside humans and their god. But those days have since ended, and all that is left is a stifling eternity.

State of the World

The Land of Eternity is not without failings. By pursuing 'Eternity' and closing the doors of her nation, the Raiden Shogun has only made the lives of her people more difficult. Exploring the country may give you some clues as to how you can break her enforced stasis. You must first understand the situation of the nation, and then find the natives who also wish to change their world.

[He turns his head and across his throat is a wide scar. He makes no move to get closer. Instead, he puts his hands in his pockets.]

Some would stay. [Pride is a hell of a thing.] But that doesn't matter. You chose not to stay. And what you decide here are your choices.

[...Ah. So he understands.

Ris doesn't respond to it outright, but lets herself relax just slightly. She's still frowning though as she tips her palms outward, showing her Vision.]

Are they, though?

Certainly, they are for now. I feel as in control of my own mind as ever. But surely you have seen what has become of those who have lost these.

What, then, becomes of us?

[A shadow crosses over his face. That had occurred to him too. He closes his eyes.] That is a question for Forneus.

If such a fate is one we have to worry about he will tell you. If there is one thing Forneus can be counted on for, it is transparency.

[They’re where others can see them. He can’t change here. He only takes his Vision off his belt. The pale green gem glows with a pale light.] Even if it doesn’t benefit the cause.

Perhaps that is why it weighs on me so.

[She tilts her hands back inward, looking down at the deep blue gem.]

I am here only because he extended this contract to me. I want to trust, more than anything, that he would have at least my best interests in mind, if not at heart.

[At the end of the day, she is just one more traveler, one more disposable piece in this game. She knows this. And yet.]

...I suppose it was foolish to have hope that freedom would be easier than this. That I would not feel as if I am constantly waiting for the punchline to some cosmic joke.

[Silence follows. Shirou seems to be visibly be thinking over his response. He holds the Anemo Vision up and faint green swirls of wind curl around his fingers. The wind stirs around them.]

Freedom and choice are different when you’ve never had it or had to fight for it. I can’t imagine how it was for you. I am not human.

[And he had to fight for what freedom his people have. He clips his Vision back where it was.]

I wouldn’t call it foolish to hope. That you have it means you have some fight left in you.

[She looks back up, tilting her head a little as she looks him over, but she doesn't appear to be judging.]

...Nor am I. Mortal, naturally, but not human.

[She moves to put her own Vision back where it belongs. There's little point in holding on to it if she doesn't intend to make use of it, and with how common Electro energy is in Inazuma she feels no need to show off or practice while out in the open.]

Before this... my whole life was devoted to the whims of another. He never once saw me as an individual with thoughts and feelings, just as an object he could order around. As a toy he could break whenever he so pleased, just to string back together again.

My world was limited to a fraction of his. And that is the way it would have always stayed, were it not for Master Forneus granting me this chance.

[She sighs, looking back down, now just into the folds of her skirt.]

I do not know if hope means I still have any will to fight. I suppose I had just... thought perhaps I could latch on to some of the will of the rest of you, and find my own way forward from the paths you have forged.

[The wind around him dies. For a moment he's staring down the eons back to a facility and what he found there. His hands curl into fists then relax. He slowly walks towards her stops just out of reaching range.]

...My path is long and full of tragedy, and will not end. I have met another person with a story like yours. She found a path once she was freed. She turned what was done to her into a strength to help others.

You're not expendable. Whatever you decide to do, I will be there to make sure you can do it.

[His human guise is a breath away from breaking. Stories of crushed freedom set off an ancient rage. He lifts up a hand.] Shirou Ogami of Anima City, a Beastman.
