October Mingle
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
The Miko of the Grand Narukami Shrine has arranged for your passage out of Ritou and into the Inazuma islands at large. The nation has been gripped by an oppressive atmosphere ever since the enactment of the Vision Hunt Decree, and only someone unyoked by the Electro Archon can hope to break this stalemate.

Konda Village sits on the outskirts of Inazuma city. A pillar of its community now seeks to move out after losing his Vision. A samurai employed by the Shogunate is being accosted of hiding rations by his neighbours, and he has no recollection of ever dealing in such matters. Forgetting something seems to be the thread that links every former Vision holder's story together, yet their tragedies differ greatly in circumstance. Is the loss of a Vision truly so profound? If so, then why did the gods deliver such a poisoned gift to their people?

A mysterious priestess approaches you with a sincere request - Kazari seeks your aid in purifying the Thunder Sakura around Inazuma, as well as the Sacred Sakura on Mount Yougou. She tells you that these trees absorb the evil from the very land, but cannot dispel it without outside intervention. Here's where you come in: you need to dispel the sealing sigils around the holy trees, so that the filth accumulated within their roots can take form and then be swiftly cut down.

The seals, the trees, and Kazari herself are relics from the olden days - the mystical Inazuma, where kitsune and tengu lived and worked alongside humans and their god. But those days have since ended, and all that is left is a stifling eternity.

State of the World

The Land of Eternity is not without failings. By pursuing 'Eternity' and closing the doors of her nation, the Raiden Shogun has only made the lives of her people more difficult. Exploring the country may give you some clues as to how you can break her enforced stasis. You must first understand the situation of the nation, and then find the natives who also wish to change their world.

Only thing more aggravatingly nosy than a cat is a corvid. Take it from me.

[He'd know. But at the question, Julian just caws.]

Yeah, that's fair enough.

[Rean is not thinking of the bird, quite.]

Can you understand him, or do you just kind of know? Celine could talk, everyone could understand her, but as far as Julian goes I just hear caws.

[There's no response right away as August jots down another few numbers.]

I just sorta know? We're not entirely sure how or when, but at some point something touched him with demonic energy. Now he's smarter than the average corvid--which is terrifying--but he was still born a totally normal raven. I'm the only one who knows what the caws mean, though.

[sufferean]

Some kind of magic connection, then. That's enough of an explanation for me. I let other people handle anything deeper than that.

[He smiles.]

I figured if anyone wouldn't bat an eye at me mentioning a talking cat, it'd be you, though.

Like, literally talking or "meows but we understand her"?

[sufferean]

Literally talking. She can meow, too.

Huh.

[He looks over at Julian.]

...hm. Maybe I don't want Julian to talk. He'd never shut up and probably out way too many secrets.

[sufferean]

Yeah, that's pretty much Celine. Although it's less secrets and more just her getting judgmental over everything but... I guess that's what's expected for a cat.

[drewthetower]

[And one more pause as August jots down some notes and nudges Rean's legs apart to get where his inseam will be.]

So they are actually that judgemental. Does milk work as a bribe or is it filet mingon or bust?

[sufferean]

[Rean obliges, although it's awkward.]

Milk definitely works. For a while, it was the only way I could pet her without her clawing me up. Fish works, too.

...Here's hoping she never tries filet mignon. She's fussy enough without her tastes getting that expensive on me.

You know that means you'll get back to your world and she'll get to try some, right?

[Fuckin' RIP. August finally stands, rolling his neck.]

And we're done. I can get this to you in a week or so?

[sufferean]

...Yeah, I've definitely just cursed myself.

[SIGH.]

All right, that's fine. [He didn't even think he needed new clothes so a week is fine? It's more like August will be suffering for a week.] Um... don't scalp me or anything, here, but how much do you want in payment?

I'll let you know when it's done--I have an hourly rate.

[sufferean]

Makes enough sense to me.

[Rean just has to hope August won't completely run him dry. Ah, well, if he does, maybe he'll just have to go scalp Forneus—]

You're welcome to take a seat again, if you'd like. If the warp in was this rough on you, I doubt the warp out is going to treat you much better.

[And yeah, he was mostly just bluffing to get the measurements done because as soon as he tosses Julian his tape measure?

August is flopping on the sofa with a groan and taking his glasses off.]

[Rean is not 100% sure what that means, but he can make a guess.]
