October Mid-Month Event
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Two weeks after the Travelers arrive in Inazuma, the conflict between the Shogunate and the Sangonomiya Resistance begin to intensify. At Forneus' behest, you venture west to survey the battlegrounds and consider your next move.

Once again, a stalemate that can only be broken from the outside. This isn't anything new now, is it?
State of the World
The Sangonomiya Resistance have declared civil war on the Shogunate after the establishment of the Vision Hunt Decree. As you travel through Inazuma, you will eventually meet them, as well as their leader. It becomes evident that the two sides are locked in equal balance, and that the civil war does nothing good for anyone... which is why the overseer of the Narukami Shrine has asked you to come. You are unbound by any destiny, and thus able to tip the scales. But to do that, you will need a complete picture of the situation, and to solve problems that no one is willing to face.
No one has seen the Shogun out in public for quite a while. It seems that only a sufficiently grave danger will provoke her from within her castle. The enemy of eternity is change, and you are just that.

How you hold yourself in a fight?
no subject
[He's a turret, not a fighter??? Does he need a stance???]
no subject
The way you hold yourself, if something got an attack on you, you'd be dead in a hit. Just like the slime.
no subject
Usually Alex or someone's in front, keeping them from getting to me, and I can usually kill the things before they get to me if that doesn't work.
[Or: he's literally never had to worry about it before now.
Jun is not paid enough for this.]
no subject
[Just putting that out there. But really that's not his main point]
It's fine that you're new and unskilled to fighting. That's to be expected considering how things are on Earth. [Most people never have to know fighting or fending off monsters.]
But the way you act judgmental towards everyone while overlooking or dismissing your own shortcomings is .... ironic.
no subject
He knows it's ironic. It's easier to dismiss how much he sucks than to dwell on it, though, and he critiques like he breathes. At least he's aware of it. Mostly.]
Yeah, and? --hey, think I found the thing.
[He gestures up ahead, where he sees a trail of Electro.]

[How August closes in on himself and acts flippant about what he said before changing the subject, it's perceived as August trying to blow him off again. The mission does matter to Jun, so when August points out the trail he does make note of it. But he's not about to let the subject change go unchallenged. ]
You act like people assume I will when they find out my affiliation.
[That's what he meant by ironic. And with that, he'll continue following the trail - this time moving at his own pace rather than keeping it slow for August's sake. ]
no subject
[August is at least used to be the slowest in a group, so it's not too hard to pick up the pace a little so Jun doesn't totally leave him behind.]
That makes no sense.
no subject
[He is all too aware of the sins of the church. Painfully aware. ]
The things you criticize are different, but it's the same attitude. It's tiring.
no subject
But also.]
Literally never been compared to the church before, that's a new one. [But. Hmph. God, is he bad at using his words. His aunts instilled a strong sense of "use your words" but boy does he suck at it.] And, uh. Like a good eighty percent of what comes out of my mouth is just bullshit, dude. I literally never shut up unless I'm really pissed. It's just...a Thing? No one ever takes me seriously back home, guess I gotta get used to people maybe taking me seriously here.
no subject
In other words, it's the "It's just a joke, dude." response. Jun's heart sinks upon hearing it. He's not really used to having conversations like this, so he doesn't know how to handle it. And with that uncertainty, doubt enters his mind. What if he was taking things too seriously? Maybe everyone else was fine with it and he was the weird one. Was it really his business how August acted?
...He sighs ]
Forget it. Let's just finish the mission.
[In the end, he gives up and retreats back to what he knows.]
no subject
Yeah.
no subject
This is it.
no subject
August looks to Julian, who just caws. He ain't touching it.]
Coward. [To Jun:] I'm not seeing any traps--you?
no subject
[If those two aren't going to grab it, he will. His gloves are insulated to work with light energy anyway so it'll PROBABLY be fine.
He reaches over and picks it up, examining it. The energy from the orb is crackling in his hand. Good thing for gloves huh]
no subject
If that starts causing problems, lemme try. Maybe it won't hurt, since I've got Electro.
no subject
Unfortunately, Visions don't grant immunities to their elements.[If rocks fall, Jun would still die] You'd need to learn enough control to make sure the electricity in the orb doesn't touch you, and that's a little much to ask to learn on the go.
[He doesn't mean that as an insult. It'd be a tall order for anyone to learn right away. In other words, he's trying to avoid August from getting hurt.]
My gloves are made to handle things with Light affinity, which shares a lot of similar properties. It should be alright. [...] Though, if it does manage to electrocute me, please perform CPR.
[That last part may or may not be a joke]
