February Mingle: The Outlander Who Caught The Wind
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Life in Mondstadt seems to never change. Each day unfolds similarly to the next, and the clock turns back every seven days. Just what is happening here? Is there ever any hope for the Travelers to find a way home? Slowly, the questions that have been burning in everyone's minds will be answered The fate of all that lives in Teyvat is written in the stars - only you, Traveler, are free from the shackles of destiny.

As Travelers wake up to August 13th for the third time, nothing seems to have changed. However, a windstorm blankets all of Mondstadt in the afternoon, whipped up by the wings of a large dragon. As civilians scatter and the Knights attempt to restore order, a voice calls out to you from the darkened sky.

"Come fly with me. The winds of freedom will clear away the storm."

An updraft carries you and your Wind Glider into the air, where you can take aim at the dragon without hindrance. However, your attacks seem to focus on the purple spikes that torment the dragon's body. From whence did they come?

At the behest of the Acting Grand Master, you venture out into Mondstadt's wilds to stem the flow of power fueling Stormterror's rampage. Perhaps you may come to know of Stormterror's past - once a protector of the city, now turning his back on the nation he once loved. What broke the dragon's heart? Could he have truly turned dark once and for all?

Whatever path you choose to walk, it soon becomes evident that your actions do have an impact on the world. August 17th arrives gracefully, and the people of Mondstadt turn their attention to the arduous task of reconstruction. Helping to patch up the city's beautiful neighbourhoods piece by piece will earn you the citizens favour and a good amount of Mora.

When the dust settles, peace returns to Mondstadt... for the most part. The howling of wolves can be heard in the depths of the night - a territorial dispute in the dark forests of Wolvendom has spilled over into neighbouring Springvale. The order in Wolvendom is kept by the will of Lupus Boreas - all wolves who reside in Mondstadt must obey Andriu's code. The foreign pack heed not his words, hunting above their share and attacking human hunters.

Yet all wolves look the same to outsiders unfamiliar with their code, and the residents of Springvale are all too willing to blame all of wolfkind. Who will listen to the voice of the wolves? Will blood be spilled on these untamed lands once more? Only time will tell.

State of the World

For the first week of February, IC time will continue the time loop from January: that is, looping once more from August 10th to August 16th. ICly, the tasks in our main quest will be completed by characters before Sunday ends. Once Monday rolls around once more, they’ll be pleasantly surprised to find that the date has advanced to August 17th. The second to fourth weeks of February will be spent looping from August 17th to August 23rd, and characters will have plenty of new things to do in the new time period.

I. Dragon Attack

[ Elliot was performing when the sky darkened. After a quick yelp of panic at the sight of a dragon in the sky, he quickly put away his violin and got to work. First order of business was helping the scared civilians get to safety, telling and leading them to the cathedral for cover. He'd probably appreciate any help you can give with that.

Then when the crowd was secure, it came time to deal with that dragon. One look at how the wind gliders work made Elliot decide-- yeah, him on a glider would be a terrible idea. So he opts for support on the ground for those who fly up. If you need a healer, he's ready and waiting.

And for anyone unlucky enough to crash? Before they smash into the ground, they'll find themselves getting caught by another updraft to wind that's slowing their fall to something much less lethal. Elliot is nearby, holding out his staff as he channels his vision's power.]

Hold on, I got you!

II. Aftermath

[The dragon is gone, but it sure made a mess of the place. Destruction like this always left a bad feeling in his stomach. So he's going to do what he can to help clean up. He's not good at heavy lifting, but he can be found sweeping broken glass or picking up fliers. That is, until he finds some little scared kittens hiding behind some barrels.]

Oh no...poor little things, they must've gotten scared and run off. [BABIES] Let's try to find out where they came from.

III. Wolves

[Eventually, Elliot makes his way out to Springvale. He wanted to get a better lay of the land, and this quest felt like a good opportunity. He heads to the village first, offering healing to any injured villagers and hearing their accounts. This isn't his first rodeo, so he knows not to jump to conclusions. When he's gathered enough information, he can be found on the edge of town, thinking outloud.]

Wolves attacking villagers when they didn't used to. That feels like that's a troubling change of behavior.

IV. Domain & Wildcard

[Elliot is willing to take part in any domain exploration! He's useful at healing and can use ameno and water/ice magic thanks to a regain! Hit me up if you want to do a domain with him, and we'll work something up! If you want to do something else, let me know too! ]

I. CHANGES

[ Things may reverse and not change week to week here in Mondstadt, but there is in fact one change at the very start of the week. Edward Elric is ~gone~ and there's actually someone new who probably doesn't quite look like they belong in Mondstadt because they definitely do not. Kashuu Kiyomitsu brings no extra height to Stella Fortuna since he's also only 165cm tall, but that's fine. He has high heels and is way more fashionable than Edward and his weird sense of style, so it's totally a trade up.

Anyway. While he doesn't look like he knows where he is, exactly, Kashuu doesn't seem that worried about it? More sort of annoyed. Since he showed up near the fountain, he stays near there, shaking what looks like a compass and muttering to himeslf for a second. But he'll put it away when that appears fruitless, looking around dubiously. Mondstadt is very clearly no part of Japan he has ever been to, but exploration is pretty much the only way to figure out what's going on. Regardless, this means there is someone new who can be found doing a variety of things in the few days prior to the dragon attack...a few options: shopping (!) for interesting things with whatever mora he manages to earn, doing his nails while seated somewhere, or examining commissions options. ]

II. AFTER THE STORM

A. FLYING???
[ HE NEVER TOOK FLYING LESSONS SO THIS PROMPT IS mostly an incoherent shriek who wants to advise him mid-air. Please send help. ]

B. TEMPLE DIVING
[ Well, this seems way more his speed than anything else. Kashuu's perfectly happy to either join someone else or start his own thing, but either way he'll find his way to any of the three temples and loiter outside - since it isn't until someone else approaches that the gate lights up in a new way. His eyebrows lift immediately. ]

Well, that's new. Maybe it'll open now! [ He was getting nowhere with ideas on how to get in by himself, so this is nice. Join him, stranger! ]

C. CLEANING
[ Cleaning is not his favorite activity ever, but okay, fine. Kashuu will definitely pitch in - though he might complain if a nail is chipped at any point - although some things bother him less than others. Just now he's attempting to help right a fallen - lamppost? ]

Oh, hey! Can you grab the other side of this? I'm not gonna do it alone. [ Because he can't. ]

III. THE LEGENDS OF WOLVENDOM

[ Bad wolves and good wolves, color coded for their convenience. Well, a little scouting proves that it seems like the grey wolves do not seem to be harming humans...which is good, right? Kashuu isn't sure why that is, but maybe it has to do with the human kid who hangs out with them. Which means that the easiest solution is probably... ]

Soooo, we just have to kill the other wolves, right? That would solve everything. [ There's not a peaceful solution to be had here, is there? ]

IV. COMMISSIONS

A. AN OUTSIDE PERSPECTIVE
[ The reward is? Your picture in a book? And Kashuu is just enough into that he's game. Besides, it sounds fun and fairly easy. All he has to do is figure out what would be fun for tourists, right? He's a tourist! This takes like no effort at all! So he'll just grab the first available person he sees, unless someone else was already accepting the commission and Jameson Jams Jamsborini just paired them up randomly. Currently he's seated at a table at Angel's Share with someone else (you) and tapping his nails on the top of it. ]

We-ell, what about a culture section? Like, what people wear, local phrases...that sort of thing would help with a travel guide, right?

B. LIBRARY MANAGEMENT
[ One book down, one to go! Kashuu has already gotten the first book, but the second book...where the hell is the Thousand Winds Temple? He's about to leave Mondstadt for it, readjusting his gloves and actively pouting. ]

Who leaves a borrowed book someplace so far away?? It's careless! [ And also more work for him. And he doesn't even know what ruin guards are as of yet. ]

C. A THOUSAND WISHES
[ "A surprise" sounds like a terrible reward coming from Tsurumaru (is it him jumping out at them) but whatever - Kashuu's first instinct is to purchase cuter paper if possible, and then he'll set up at one of the outdoor tables at Angel's Share, folding with a decent amount of ease. He already knows the story, and it's not the first time a sword has gotten it into their head to try this. So, if anyone is having trouble: ]

Ooooh, you're doing that fold a little off. Here, like this. Do you want some of my paper? It's way cuter than what you've got! [ And clearly all 1000 of these cranes need to be cute, or something. ]

WILDCARD

[Jun has a bit more experience with flying, granted in a different way and in much shorter bursts. But it's enough where he's not struggling so much as...this poor soul. Oh.

He tries yelling over the wind]

Don't flail around! You'll make yourself lose the draft!

[ HE DOES NOT WANT TO BREAK, SPARE HIM - ]

Why are we flying?! [ Why is this even a thing! He likes being on the ground!! ]

Have to reach the dragon somehow!

[You know, the one attacking the town!]

This is the WORST way to travel! [ Full offense, Venti. But okay, he's not flailing...he's trying to figure out how the fuck to steer himself...god, so many of the others would super enjoy this, but Kashuu is not about this life. Luckily he's just on task enough to know they do have to reach the dragon...

He'll just complain as they go...this is the WORST... ]

Haha, I can think of a way that's worse...! [Which may be foreshadowing. Or not! We'll see.]

Use the updrafts to your advantage, and tilt yourself slightly in the direction you want to go!

[He'll throw that bit of advice but then continue to flying upwards and ahead. He seems real determined to reach that dragon.]

Ye-es...!

[ At least this random guy seems to know what he's doing, because Kashuu is no aviator. He is intuitively inclined to combat so he'll be somewhat more helpful with that... ]

Do you have a plan for when we catch up?!

[ But also: how much are they winging this, man. ]

[Well JUN has a plan at least. One that he says with zero hesitation.]

We're jumping on it!

[Buckle up Kashuu we're playing Shadow of the Colossus now]

[ How does he get off this wild ride! Without jumping!

Damn you, mysterious wind and voice. ]

- Fine! I'm gonna take this out on that crystal!

[ His frustrations, he means. ]

Good! That's our target!

[So yes please wail on the crystal. Jun will focus on the flying now, catching another updraft that'll bring him above the dragon. When he's sure that he's got the trajectory right, he'll shout out]

- Now!

[Then immediately he closes up his glider wings and lets himself plummet down. He seems in complete control of his fall, landing on the dragon's back with an almost inhuman level of grace and grabbing onto some ridging on one of the scales so he can't be thrown off.]

[ Jun isn't alone with the inhuman grace. While Kashuu doesn't look happy about plummeting, he's decent enough at mid combat acrobatics to orient himself and land neatly.

And he's even doing it in high heeled boots. So there. He pulls his blade out immediately, going in for the attack. He's not sure his element will be of any use here... ]

[Oh good, he didn't miss and fall to his death. That makes things much easier.

Jun will also draw his sword, and start attacking at the crystal along with Kashuu. His hits pack a punch, causing cracks in only a couple hits. This would go faster with his vision, he's sure, but they're kinda a long way from any dirt lying around.

He'll stop in a swing, picking up on movements]

Hold on!

[And he'll move to quickly grab onto the dragon itself as it starts to veer around, as if trying to shake them off]

[ sylvain had, thankfully, asked around for a better map this time after the whole mining fiasco. so no taking wrong forks or getting lost and spending an extra hour trying to circle back to the main road again, which means they managed to find the temple okay... and that's about where all the smooth sailing ended.

the trek through the temple of the lion is kind of rocky for the most part—the place is crawling with slimes and neither of them have the right element for it, but they're also both stubborn and stupid enough to keep pushing through in spite of it. so here they are, in the aftermath of defeating like twenty slimes and a hydro abyss mage; sylvain is practically soaked to the bone and is sporting cuts all over, which his basically transparent shirt does nothing to hide. after checking on felix to make sure he's okay, he pulls it off and shakes his head to get the water out of his hair, much like how a dog would. ]

So, anyway, [ casually, like they're mid-conversation. ] I never want to see another slime again.

[ famous last words. ]

[ SO AFTER ALL THAT NOISE WITH DRAGONS - Elliot is probably chilling in his room one evening when time is finally flowing properly with his violin or whatever other instruments he's been able to get his hands on, yes? Practicing as you do when you're a huge music nerd. Maybe the weather was really nice this evening, so he left the window open? It's not like music doesn't often fill the streets of Mondstadt.

This opens him up, however, to an adeptus perching on the windowsill. Xiao doesn't announce himself like a normal ass person would do, so Elliot will probably get a huge scare when he glances over for the first time. Sorry, Elliot. ]

[He certainly was! While he's able to keep his cool publicly these days, Elliot still needed his music playing sessions to calm his regularly-shot nerves. And this was what tonight's session was about. Playing some old favorites, some new tunes he liked the sound of- basically having a fun time playing rather than drilling himself. And since it is still the summer, his window is open so anyone in the street can hear.

Though, he wasn't expecting an audience on his windowsill.

He doesn't notice Xiao at first, he's too absorbed in the music. It's only when he's finished a particular piece does his eyes wander to the window and--]

-- Ah!

[Yep. That startled him. He gives a yelp and jumps. Thankfully even in his fright, his grip on his violin remains steadfast. He'd protect that more than anything okay]

X-Xiao?!

[WHY YOU HERE]

II. THE OUTLANDER WHO CAUGHT THE WIND

A. TEMPLE RUN
[ Xiao is more familiar, perhaps, with the temples than other people might be. He hasn't traveled those in Mondstadt but he knows of places much the same in Liyue...accordingly, he knows it is better to travel with others than it is to travel alone. So he approaches any of those he recognizes as new (or older and more familiar) vision holders. ]

I'll accompany you. [ It's not a question, but instead a calm statement. You have won one Adeptus for your party. What do you do next? ]

B. DVALIN
[ He's not prone to lurking in libraries, but if he hears anyone questioning NPCs or speaking about the Dvalin matter outside of the library - ]

No archon's protectors will remain for eternity.

C. AFTERMATH
[ Despite his distance from others, Xiao is more used to this sort of work than he should be, perhaps. He doesn't often help with the up close and personal clean up of things, but tracking down items lost in disasters is something he's done before. He's not asked for it directly here, for there is no shrine and no pilgrims, but he can be found lurking around Mondstadt, listening in on what people need done, and then going to do it. Without speaking to them.

...It's probably going to give way to a rumor about helpful ghosts, although other characters can definitely catch him in the act of carefully placing a child's toy outside of their home or other such lost items in front of other domiciles. ]

III. THE LEGENDS OF WOLVENDOM

[ Fighting is the easiest thing, the one he knows how to do best. Xiao is very careful about what he fights and when; he tries not to kill if he does not need to. But in this case, he deems it necessary. They don't have to exterminate the wolves, however... ]

It would be best if we could scare them off. It should not require killing all of them. [ There is no need to kill more than they absolutely must. ]

IV. COMMISSIONS

A. ROAD RAGE
[ He would deal with this alone, but commissions in Mondstadt seem to be a group activity. Curious and annoying, but not something he cannot adhere to. Accordingly he will wait until he sees someone else accepting the quest, then will fall into step beside them. ]

What vision do you bear?

B. A THOUSAND WISHES
[ This seems, to him, about as pointless as the lantern rites. Still, Xiao accepts the papers and folds quietly... ]

Do humans truly believe this will grant wishes? [ Or mostly quietly. ]

We may need to coordinate our attacks to break this thing!

[ Kashuu was dutifully helping out (ugh, cleaning) but when he sees someone crouched in front of barrels he's curious enough to come over to see what's up...and what's up is apparently KITTENS.

He makes the requisite awwwwwwwww sound. ]

They're so small! Do you think they actually have an owner, though?

[ IS HE NOT ALLOWED TO BE HERE! On Elliot's windowsill! Without permission or announcing himself! Humans and their weird ideas of etiquette, man. ]

Do you play many instruments?

[ And yet he responds fairly calmly, like this is a totally normal location and time to have a casual conversation. He will get to the point in a second. ]

[It's ok, his best friend is a total himbo, so he's used to someone being clueless. ]

Good idea! I'll make a crack on the crystal, and you follow up with an attack on that spot, okay?

[That's right, make that sound for they are cute and they are kittens]

I don't know! They must have a mom at least, they're too young to be on their own. I bet they got scared and ran off when the storm happened.

[He sighs at Xiao's total lack of concern about his weirdness. He reminds himself that the guy isn't human. It probably doesn't occur to him not to startle humans like that....or show up to their window without warning.

Whatever. He's not getting murdered. He can relax. His hand rests on his chest for a moment to make sure his heart won't beat out of his chest, before he lowers it]

Yeah, I do. I'm a professional musician, actually.

I'm on it! [ At least working with a team is familiar to him - hell, even working with people he's only just met is familiar to him. Sometimes you only get to speak to a sword a little bit before you're thrown out on a sortie together.

So if Jun makes a crack, he's going to slam into it with his blade. ]
