MAY MINGLE

May Mingle: Entombed City
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.

Everyone's hard work resulted in the gate to upper Dragonspine opening. These ruins have not been traversed in years, if not centuries - everything within has been lost to time and living memory. An entire city has been buried in the snow.

People once lived there. The broken buildings host damaged furniture and weathered streets. There are various cloth-covered mounds in a house here and there, accompanied by a sprig of blue flowers. Someone has laid these people to rest after they passed away.

Traces of technology can be found in the city - golden boxes that contain crystals capable of recording and playing back holograms. One of the boxes introduces this place as Vindagnyr; a land once full of greenery and life. Just what happened to these people? What caused the eternal winter?

The highest point in the city is occupied by a temple built into a Domain. Within the Domain is a pale white tree, split in half by a strange object that has fallen through the Domain's ceiling. This temple was once a site for worship for Vindagnyr's people, and even in death they continue to pray for salvation. The priests have been frozen in ice, and the sheer cold emanating from the Skyfrost Nail makes it obvious that it is the cause of winter.

The city's inhabitants worshipped Celestia. Why then were they left to die?

State of the World

On October 1st, the entombed city of Vindagnyr becomes open for exploration. Travelers can choose to look for clues or try to scavenge the city for ancient materials or tools. Recording boxes all around the city tell stories of Vindagnyr's greener past, and of the days when winter suddenly arrived. This is the cruelty of Celestia that Forneus wished you to see.

[ D:

Oh. Man.]

It... How?
whiteshroud: (shroud - casual)

[personal profile] whiteshroud 2021-05-19 02:37 pm (UTC)(link)
Not really. You strike me as really out-of-touch.

[BLUNT. But jun is apathetic enough where he's not going to keep continuing this argument. This just reaffirms some of his own stances on the matter.]

Thank you for the seal.
nefilim: (shut your dirty dirty mouth)

[personal profile] nefilim 2021-05-19 02:44 pm (UTC)(link)
What do you mean "it doesn't matter"? Of course if does! Even if it's been decades and there's nothing anyone can about it! It was your home, once.

[Siiiiiighs]

But... Sorry. For bringing it up.

[He looks around for an exit- but seeing how it's just a white void right now? He finally just opts to teleport away]

[ Zhongli is silent for a few moments after Ledah finishes speaking. He had found the angel quite interesting, as a servant of one and now contracted to another, his views would be very different from that of the others here. ]

What do you think of your host?

[ It is to Forneus' benefit that Ledah is amiable to him; the same could not be said for quite a few others. ]
pragmatism: (36)

Yes. Beyond the two cliffs and before Mount Tianheng.

[ The buildings are almost indistinguishable from one another at this distance, but Liyue stands out amidst the earthen colours of the plains and the vivid blue of the ocean. ]

That is Guyun Stone Forest. [ A pause. ] And beyond that lies the nation of Inazuma, though it is too distant to be perceived.

Inazuma...that's where the Electro Archon is, right? Its borders have been closed for awhile though...

[Look at Jun, ever being the dutiful kid that actually reads up on the world. He takes in every sight that Zhongli points out, but the Guyun Stone Forest catches his interest]

Haha, I read somewhere that Guyun Stone Forest was formed by your spears. Is that true?

[Humans have a tendency to embellish the feats of their gods, after all, so it's good to check. ]

[She has retained that information and will never speak of it again.]

Actuuually... Since time isn't really a constraint for you, are you able to jump between the past or the future?

[ It has been a little while since their last talk, and Ledah did indeed take his time in approaching the god of time, but after the meeting, this felt like it would be necessary. He's bad at pleasantries as usual, so when he walked in, he'll start out plainly: ]

There's something we should discuss.
infreefall: (★ formal 1)

[personal profile] infreefall 2021-05-19 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this isn't normal for the rest of Teyvat... at least, not anywhere we've been yet. Sorry you couldn't come in to somewhere nicer!

[ as if that's her fault? anyway, she presses her fingers together to release her quirk, gently dropping jinx to the ground. ]

Is there someone with a snow quirk there?

[ By his logic, it was a reasonable doubt to have. Even though they were more than a normal civilian or mortal, they were not gods. Even if some of them may be divine in nature, all who were called here were, once again, not gods. As far as Ledah knew, anyway.

But as he considered Rean's question, one he could see Ein posing should he have been in this situation, he could only reconcile it with the fact that a god had thought them capable. And for a being such as he, who had been created for the gods, he decided that would have to be enough.

With that thought, Ledah will turn his gaze back to Rean. ]

...It has been said once that prayer from the people are what give gods power. It could be nonsense for that to be true here, but in the end, what are such beings without mortals?

Regardless of what is true, we have a duty to carry out our mission. For now, we do what we must, and keep going. We have no other choice but to do so, as otherwise the sacrifices that have been made would be meaningless, and eventually the situation may worsen. Even if any of us may feel uncertain, those are the facts.

[personal profile] infreefall 2021-05-20 12:04 am (UTC)(link)
Well, there's plenty that I could ask? But if we manage free the people of this world like you want, then you'll... [ she makes a face. ] ...die? That's like a sort of death for gods, right?

[ how does that work ]

I just figure that if that's going to happen, we should get to know you while you're still here, you know? Especially since it'll kind of make you a hero, if t works.
dispassionatedevotion: (> Glance)

[personal profile] dispassionatedevotion 2021-05-20 12:20 am (UTC)(link)
He is my benefactor. I will serve his cause, and do whatever he requires of me in return, as that is my current purpose in living out this life.

[ Yeah, he's...amiable alright. That's certainly a good word for it. ]

Additionally, he seems well-suited to being a god called the 'god of time', from what I can tell.

[Sooga politely doesn't comment on the jump that definitely didn't happen, though he would privately be amused if it had. There's just something so satisfying about semi-accidentally sneaking up on people when even Gorons tend to be shorter than you, after all.]

Yes. Most here are.
missingache: ([10] All my fears would shrink)

[personal profile] missingache 2021-05-20 08:29 pm (UTC)(link)
R-Right...

[No lectures please!]

That sounds like something Sora and some of my other friends would play.
missingache: ([94] To pull you through)

[personal profile] missingache 2021-05-20 08:31 pm (UTC)(link)
... should I just take one for now? Or two swords?

[He'd feel better having both of his hands occupied by a weapon. The claymore looks too unwieldy to appeal to him.]

Yeah, but we're here to help. We can't just take all day.
fiddlestick: (elliot122)

[personal profile] fiddlestick 2021-05-20 08:45 pm (UTC)(link)
[He chuckles. Yeah, he thought as much]

Mm! There's a lot of kids your age that enjoy it back home. If you ever want to give it a try, just let me know! I wouldn't mind letting you use my phone for a bit.

[He wouldn't be able to cast any magic from it since it's made for Elliot's specifications, but hey phone game!]
missingache: ([74] To admire)

[personal profile] missingache 2021-05-21 02:54 am (UTC)(link)
[Kids his age... if only Elliot knew actual versus looks like age, that wouldn't be said.]

Uh. I'll think about it. I'm not the best with technology.
fiddlestick: (haha there there)

[personal profile] fiddlestick 2021-05-21 05:19 am (UTC)(link)
[No, it would be. He's known a few test tube kiddos that were much younger than they looked.]

Eheh, well consider it a good way to practice using technology. Phones are an excellent way to keep in touch with friends, so it'd be good to get comfortable using one.
