June Mingle: Time For A Hike
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Finally, it's time to leave Death Mountain for warmer climates. THe Travelers will begin their journey from Mondstadt to Liyue on the first of November, after packing up and saying goodbye the Mondstadt's Adventurers' Guild. But worry not - if you ever miss the City of Wind and Song, it's possible to teleport back for a brief visit.

The Travelers will head out of Mondstadt through Stone Gate, cross Dihua Marsh and then reach the Guili Plains. You'll be camping out under the stars on some days, while getting to enjoy various roadside inns on other days - including the famed Wangshu Inn, all under Forneus' bill. But it does bring up a question: where did he get all that mora from?

Speaking of Forneus, it seems that he's too busy to accompany you on this road trip. Instead, Zhongli will serve as his stand-in. For those who do not know him well, he introduces himself as an Adeptus... and also the Geo Archon, who has enlisted your help to test his nation. What will you do?

State of the World

June will be a lighter period in the game for characters to bond with each other while traveling as a group, and later while exploring and trolling Liyue to the best of their ability. Forneus will not be available for the first two weeks as he is busy; instead Zhongli is tasked with answering questions in his place. A reference of the scenery your character might see on the way can be found in this video here! Feel free to check out Liyue's music here as well.

Before Liyue

(It's time to get off this frozen mountain and climb down to a warmer place.

Once they're off the mountain, the travelers will hear a loud roar in the distance and see something dark approach them from the sky. It flies closer and close until it becomes apparent what it is: A dragon. It flies directly towards the group, making a line right for them…

And Claude runs out to meet it arms held up stop it. Greet it? The dragon lands on the ground heavily and lowers its head down to… nuzzle? Claude is petting it? He's even smiling?!)

Woah, there, big guy. I know, I know. You're feeling lost, right? Don't worry, I've got you.

(It looks over his shoulder, golden eyes glowing. Claude pats it, rubbing at the base of one of its horns,)

They're friends.

(And the wyvern seems to relax. Claude looks back, giving everyone a smile,)

Hey! Yeah so… don't worry.

(He can explain.)

In Liyue

(At the harbor, Claude lights up and immediately takes to talking to the merchants and travelers. It reminds him of the ports in Derdriu, where people from all over would come to trade and share their goods. It had always been the place where he felt like he fit in the most, among so many different people.

He's discussing with one vendor who is trying to sell him some cloth from another land, promising him that it'll keep him warm in the colder months of winter. After coming back from Dragonspine, he admits,)

I'm definitely tempted… (And hello, you, who are clearly also checking out the same seller,) What do you think?

Wildcard/Exploring

(But really, you can find Claude all over. He's exploring Liyue. You can catch him in the towns where he might be having tea and trying to learn from the locals. You can also catch him outside in the plains or the hills, usually with his wyvern that does much better in open places. He might be practicing archery or his with his Vision. You might even catch him with a sword instead.

The only thing to really note is that in the beginning, he won't let many people approach his wyvern. It might be tame but it's not a harmless pet.

[And here's someone who is not at all deterred by the sight of the wyvern. Rather she watches from a safe distance, noticing the familiarity they have with Claude. Once it seems like the wyvern is more at ease, she lets herself step a little closer - expression bright as always.]

They're adorable!

[She has a slight bias for dragons okay. But it also means there's zero fear as she smiles warmly at the pair.]

A friend from home, I take it?

[bowfaire]

(The wyvern tenses when Persie approaches! It's on guard. Claude makes a shushing sound, trying to soothe it, and rubs a hand against its muzzle,)

It's fine.

(He smiles at her,)

Yeah. This is Rumi.

[joies]

[She will keep her distance when she notices the wyvern is still on edge, though she might still be quietly sparkling at them at bit. She just likes dragons ok...]

Rumi... I see. Well, it's a pleasure to meet them.

[Though time to ask the probably more obvious question;]

Though if I may ask, how did you come across a dragon? Most people tend to opt for horses or smaller for companions.

[bowfaire]

(Ah, poor Persie... she just loves a good dragon and what he has right now is one that's a little confused and anxious,)

You hear that? (He's definitely trying to get Rumi to calm down,) She said it's nice to meet you. Don't worry, she's a friend.

(Rumi, in response, just huffs.)

Oh, I can ride a horse too but well... where I'm from, it's kind of a rite of passage to learn how to fly a wyvern. (There might just be a twinkle in Claude's eye when he mentions that last bit,) I learned how to at the Academy and ended up choosing Rumi here.

(And he sort of just left with him when Garreg Mach was attacked.)

Before Liyue

[Well that was a roller coaster of emotions! From relief to being off the mountain to sudden DRAGON ATTACK to Claude...acting all chummy with the dragon??

Jun was already prepping for a battle as the dragon flew in, and as Claude interrupts and starts talking like it's some pet- all Jun can do is stare dumbfounded. ]

Uh-

[CLAUDE??? EXPLAIN???]

( Completely valid and fair considering all of the DRAGON DRAMA they’ve had to deal with recently.

The wyvern looks at Jun, golden eyes sizing him up. Nothing personal, Jun, but wyvern are predators. )

Right, so... This is Rumi.

( Patting the wyvern, dubbed “Rumi” on the neck, )

He’s from back home. He might look scary but he’s one of us.

( See: Just a confused guy from another world. )

[whiteshroud]

[It's ok. Rumi will be let down anyway because Jun is a tiny macaroni and would be a small snack at best. ]

Rumi...

[Yep. this is a new one]

So..he's like a companion to you? I didn't know you had a dragon, Claude.

[That feels like something you should mention???]

( Maybe Rumi likes snacks, Jun. )

Yeah.

( He nods, )

Some people have horses and other people have pegasus. ( Yes, there are also pegasus. ) But where I’m from, every soldier learns how to ride a wyvern.

( A beat, )

It’s... kind of a rite of passage.

( A cultural thing. Yeah. Hmm this would probably be a lot easier to explain in general if he just... ever explained things! )

[Then he should've eaten claude cause he's a real snacc.

But jeez Claude. Talking about how people have horses and PEGASUSI so casually like it's a normal thing! Meanwhile, Jun-- ]

...Ha ha, Meanwhile I have a small cactus plant.

[He says that as a dry joke. This is really cool! Like any teenage boy, he looks a little envious that Claude gets to own a DRAGON ]

That's some rite of passage though. [Immediately beats any he's had to go through because he never got a dragon] And it's amazing he followed you all the way here.

I'd love to meet it.

(He's joking! But also serious.)

Heh... we've been through a lot together. This guy's saved my life more times than I can count. I really owe him.

Haha if it's not dead, I'll be happy to introduce you!

[Cactuses can go a very long time without any water but...over 9 months might be pushing it.]

He sounds like a true friend. I have to say, I think you're living the dream of every kid on Earth.

[Because who wouldn't want to have a dragon friend?? ]

(He believes in Spike.

Ah, there's a smile that doesn't quite reach his eyes and Rumi stills, the only sound being the sound of his breathing as gold eyes glance over towards the rider. When Claude speaks, it's as light as ever but there's that sense of... vagueness that he's prone to giving off,)

What kid wouldn't want a wyvern, right? (That much he can relate to, at least,) Maybe Rumi'll let you get to know him some time.

I think he's a little stressed right now. Do you see his wings?

(The way they're not quite tucked but not quite spread either? Somewhere in between and still, he's stuck in some defensive form.)

Liyue!!

[Claude isn’t the only one who finds himself at the markets. Rose does, too. After months in the wilderness, she’s desperate for any kind of civilization, even if it means haggling with shopkeepers.]

[Someone please help her. She is very bad at it.]

If it keeps us from experiencing that cold again, I’d take just about anything.

Same here.

(He might be a noble but he didn't exactly grow up in the lap of luxury. He knows a thing or two about haggling for a better deal so he turns his attention back to the seller,)

Maybe we can work something out? You know, a bit of a buy one, get one sort of deal. You've got two interested buyers right here and it'd be a shame to lose both...

(The gears turn in the seller's mind and he rummages for a scarf somewhere in the middle of his pile. Something made from the same material but much smaller than the shawl he'd originally been trying to sell. He'll include the scarf for a 50% discount! It's a pretty, dark green color but if Rose looks, she might see some scarves of the same type in different colors,)

It's not a bad color. I kind of like it, actually.

(It would match his eyes, at least but he glances at Rose to see what she thinks.)

[One would think that, growing up as a commoner, Rose would know how to haggle. That she would know how much merchants overcharge.]

[But as money was never an issue, she was never forced to learn the ways of the world. The only thing she can do is cross her arms and glare at the merchant as Claude does the heavy lifting. Is it helping? Is it hurting? Who can say.]

[Instead, she ruffles through the pile to pull out another scarves. One is a dark red, and the other is a yellow and black mixed pattern. She holds the latter up to Claude.]

Somehow, I thought you’d prefer something like this.

(It's not like Claude is really hurting for money (thanks Jun) so he doesn't go aggressive with the haggling. He's able to score one half-cloak and a scarf for a sweet deal. Don't ask me how money works in Genshin.)

You'd think, right? Variety is important in life. If everything is the same, it's boring, even if it suits you.

Liyue

[Curiosity is the only reason Roxas is looking at these stands. There was so much stuff, most of which he would never even buy. Which is fine. He doesn't even know what a lot of it is.

When asked about a fabric, he blinks and looks it over.]

It doesn't look bad... but what would you do with it?

[Does this guy know how to sew?]

Maybe commission a seamstress.

(He says casually, like it's easy to just hire someone to do some work for him,)

I could probably make a decent shawl out of it but... well, it would leave a bit to be desired. (He can sew! Just not well. Essentially, he can do the basics-- fixing buttons, mending tears, maybe put a pillowcase together or something simple along those lines.) After being out in the cold for so long, I'll take anything to forget all of that.

[missingache]

..... I don't know what a seamstress is.

[But if you can hire someone to do the work for you, that seems neat.]

I'll be happy if we never have to go back. I think I hate snow. [Which is sad because it seemed like such a magical thing before.] But a shawl would be good if it gets cold here.

(He explains it easily, like he's just talking about the weather. No judgement! Maybe this guy's never had to worry about his clothes before or something.)

Oof... I wouldn't say I hate the snow. It's beautiful to look at and fun to play in but there's definitely such thing as too much of a good thing.

[Nope. Fairies and stores have the clothes. Roxas doesn't ask how or where they come from.]

That was only my second time in snow. The last time I was at least warm.

[Magic. The difference was magic.]

I don't think getting a Cryo vision helped. You'd think that'd help with the cold...

Yeah? Not from a snowy place? Me too.

(Heh. Ah, but being a Cryo user, huh...)

I dunno... I can't see ice powers really helping to keep anyone warm in a cold place so it kind of makes sense. Unless we're talking about resistance specifically...

I don't get how people love living in cold places...

[Must be used to it. He's sure never going to. No thanks.]

I had no resistance. I was as cold as everyone else while there.

The snow's pretty fun. And there are places with special festivals just for the winter so I can see the appeal.

(He's not going to knock it! Some people just like the cold.)

It's not really for me, though. After a few days, I'm ready for warmer weather.
