June Mingle: Time For A Hike
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Finally, it's time to leave Death Mountain for warmer climates. THe Travelers will begin their journey from Mondstadt to Liyue on the first of November, after packing up and saying goodbye the Mondstadt's Adventurers' Guild. But worry not - if you ever miss the City of Wind and Song, it's possible to teleport back for a brief visit.

The Travelers will head out of Mondstadt through Stone Gate, cross Dihua Marsh and then reach the Guili Plains. You'll be camping out under the stars on some days, while getting to enjoy various roadside inns on other days - including the famed Wangshu Inn, all under Forneus' bill. But it does bring up a question: where did he get all that mora from?

Speaking of Forneus, it seems that he's too busy to accompany you on this road trip. Instead, Zhongli will serve as his stand-in. For those who do not know him well, he introduces himself as an Adeptus... and also the Geo Archon, who has enlisted your help to test his nation. What will you do?

State of the World

June will be a lighter period in the game for characters to bond with each other while traveling as a group, and later while exploring and trolling Liyue to the best of their ability. Forneus will not be available for the first two weeks as he is busy; instead Zhongli is tasked with answering questions in his place. A reference of the scenery your character might see on the way can be found in this video here! Feel free to check out Liyue's music here as well.

[ Zhongli is... Around, for the lack of a better word. He doesn't seem much different from his usual stoic demeanour, but he's also a lot more dignified than Forneus. He wouldn't turn down any conversation, especially if it's important. ]

[So the cute guy from camp with loads of trivia had been the other god after all. Elliot was surprised when he heard the news, but he's experienced enough strange things that he knows how to mostly just roll with it.

At first he isn't sure how to approach him, but finally during one evening at camp, he decides to take the chance. Nervously, he'll try to start the conversation as politely as possible- the same way he'd talk to a noble he wasn't familiar with back home. Different from how he'd been seen usually interacting around the campfire. It's nothing personal Zhongli, he just doesn't want to risk being smited. ]

Um, excuse me Mr- [He pauses. Wait, is that too casual for a god? Should he go with Lord? Eminence? Or keep it to his first name like he does Forneus? Man, this was already stressful. He sighs]

...Sorry to ask, but how do you like to being addressed?

Well, I suppose this explains your extensive knowledge. And here I thought you were simply the bookish sort.

[- Is the first thing Persephone says as they make their way towards Liyue. It does make sense in hindsight. Though the news of his actual status does little to alter her feelings and attitude towards Zhongli (he's been nothing but helpful and courteous after all), besides feeling as if she has a bit of a better understanding of him.

There are some things she's curious about, though. A ruler asking for outsiders to test his land and people? She's not sure how to feel towards that.]

Though how, exactly, do you wish for us to test your nation?

[Of course, since Ana was already in the know, the news of Zhongli's status didn't matter to her at all. It's more what he wants them to help with, but surely it can't be bad right? Right. So she puts it to the back of her mind for now.

Because there's something else she needs to ask about.

Hey, Zhongli... [Just slides up next to him while they're all resting from the ongoing hike.]

... Were the statues your idea?

[ figaro will take his time as zhongli's approached by various people in their group for further inquiries regarding their next sojourn... and his true identity. which, in hindsight, made their previous conversations a lot more sense.

he'll watch his old friend from afar with an amused smile on his face, and once the other man's free he'll swoop down beside him. ​]

...You know, you could've told me from the start. [ a chuckle. ] Your hints are as subtle as a boulder falling into the water.

[Roxas really doesn't know how god-like people are supposed to be referred to, but Zhongli is from this place, so...]

Hey. [Excuse this rude child.] Do you know all the plants here? Are those sweet flowers here?

[He has reasons for needing sweet flowers.]

(Tsuru is literally just here to have a normal conversation. Maybe.)

Eh? (Looking around,) He still isn't back?

(Forneus.)

[So an Archon had been walking with them this whole time. Considering Anima city and the secrets - his own and others - it's not as surprising as it probably should be. Shirou approaches Zhongli in the late evening at camp.

He'd kept himself mostly human since crossing the border into Liyue. But sometimes little things give away his real nature. His steps are more like a wolf's than a man's.]

If you have a few moments, I'd like to talk.

[His tone is neutral, the same one he uses for anyone else. If now knowing the man he'd seen in passing is a god bothered him, it doesn't show on his face.]

[Perhaps it's that he saw the signs before and thus it wasn't a shocking revelation, or perhaps he'd simply grown used to adapting quickly to an ever-changing world, but Sooga finds that he just can't really be bothered to treat Zhongli any differently than before. The Archon still has more the vibe of a respected elder than he does of a god, and this was just more a confirmation that he's quite old indeed.

It's for this reason that one evening at one of the inns along the road, Sooga presents him with tea and a banana without a word of explanation.]

[Well. It sure is weird to find out you've been casually travelling with a god all this time, but okay!

Rean's a little hesitant to approach Zhongli, since they haven't really spoken, but he has questions and those inevitably win out.]

...Could I ask for a moment of your time?

[Not that getting Zhongli's attention helps settle his nerves any. It's the question that's the problem, not the socializing part.]

( looks like someone's not all that fazed by the archon reveal... but then again, one of her first thoughts upon seeing forneus's office was "can i make him watch cooking shows", so maybe she's just not the sort to care. )

[Even as a mortal, Ana still slept late and woke up early, unable to shake a decades long habit even now. It meant she was usually up when most of the others were asleep, but at least Wangshu Inn had great views even late at night. Quietly padding her way out to the balcony area before blinking when she notices another figure there, perking up a little when she realises who it is.]

Ah, good evening... [Embarrassment grips her again before she can call him by that new, familial title but the sentiment is still there.

She just needs to stop being horribly tsun about it first.]

[Rose has always scoffed at authority. It would be easy to say that the reason she’s so open to criticizing divinity is because of the many gods she killed, but that’s not quite it. Really, she’s just like this.]

[Which is why she doesn’t have any qualms at all questioning Zhongli about his plan. If she’s going to be a part of this, she might as well be a part that’s well-informed.]

I. Arrival / Archon Statue

[Shocking as it may be, Jun was happy to leave Dragonspine Mountain. Not only that, but after hearing and reading about Liyue for months, the kid was excited to see the place. He's ditched his knight uniform he wore on the mountain for a traveling outfit closer to what the people of Liyue wear. He looks like a normal kid, in other words.

He's in a good mood the whole day of traveling, sometimes quietly enjoying the passing sights, or talking about random trivia he learned about from the books in Mondstadt library. Honestly, this is probably the most chatty he's been among the group, so maybe it's a good chance to get to know him.

Alternatively, when they reach the Archon Statue in the Bishui Plain, he can be found staring up at the statue with utter perplexity - as if there's something about it that he's trying to wrap his brain around it. Huh. ]

II. Wuwang Hill

[Wondering what the creepy and shadowy forested hill near their campground is? Well, don't worry, Jun's got you covered]

Oh, that's Wuwang Hill. I heard that there used to be a sea monster there that'd lure young people into the river with a song. It happened year after year, and now even though the monster's gone, memories from leylines will sometimes recreate the song and lure people to drown in the river just like the monster did...

[He says it in a somber tone. What a tragic and unsettling tale. But before you sit on that too long, he'll add a bit more brightly]

III. Wangshu Inn

[It was nice of Forneus to foot the bill of the inn. Jun had been really hoping to visit this place, and it did not disappoint.

Later in the evening after dinner, Jun can be found on one of the terraces of the inn. He's looking out in the direction of the Guili Plains, his hand on his chin as he thinks out loud to himself]

Wonder if they still grow there ... should probably mark it on a map if I find any for later....

[What could he be talking about?]

( jinx is a simple girl. she is a spooky witch who likes spooky things, and that will not change so easily. it's not unlike something from back home- echoes of magic and monsters acting as if they never left. so when he brightly asks if she wants to see... well, why would she, a reckless goth girl, say no? immediately, she shuts her book and slides it into her shoulder bag. )

Absolutely.

II, I apologize for nothing

[From his tone, it's obvious that this is a logical thing to ask, and also that it absolutely hasn't occurred to him that this might seem like a really weird non-sequitur to someone who doesn't know how ghosts work in Hyrule.]

[There's a soft sound of boots on grass before Shirou joins him. Since they crossed into the new land he has kept mostly to human form. But his clothes remained the same. He glances up at the statue himself and says,]

You can tell how a people feel about their legends and gods by how they shape their statues.

[He puts his hands into his pockets and studies it a little more.] Or so I've heard.

( admittedly, as she only arrived at the tail end of an expedition to the coldest place she's ever been- and she hasn't had opportunity to explore other facets of mondstadt- she's not really sorry to see it go. though one may catch her looking around and taking in certain sights as they go, it's not like she misses anything from the kingdom. when camp is made, jinx... still isn't quite approaching strangers yet, but she's not hiding in a tent or hotel room.

instead, she's sitting by the fire with a warm drink and if not a book she's found or borrowed, than her own sketchbook- if you decide to peak over her shoulder, it's mostly landscapes they've passed, but a sketch of a wooden sheep toy might stand out too.

she won't say no to company, at least. )

( ii. exploring? exploring. )

( as the travelers make their way through everything, jinx is... well, curious. be it while they're moving actively, or when camp is set up, she wanders off the side of the road at different times- sometimes to observe a flower she's never seen before, one of which may end up delicately tucked in her hands until she finds a better way to keep it safe, and sometimes it's to climb a hill beside the road, or follow nearby rivers or the marsh's coast. she always makes it back to the group in record time, thankfully, but one might see her more as a curious cat than anything. )

( of course, various roadside stalls at checkpoints and by the more nominal inns also catch her curiosity. with slow steps, jinx observes different wares- from umbrellas and wind chimes to food, with a certain light in her eyes. )

( now this is probably where one might see jinx look the most excitable- in a place as lovely as the wangshu inn, however, can one blame her? once again her sketchbook is out and if she's not in the upper level for the view, she's down below capturing the building from a lower angle. when you say something to her... she definitely doesn't hear you the first time.

( at some point at the camps, you might smell something! something delicious. if you go to see who's at the wok, there she is! calmly going through different things set out or perhaps purchased- thanks forneus- jinx is focused mostly on what's going on in front of her, but if you come by... )

[Rean can't help but smile at what Jinx is up to. In a way, she reminds him of someone back home... although, he has to admit that Jinx is seemingly much better behaved.

He wasn't really intending to tail after her, he'd just been kind of watching her out of the corner of his eye and getting lost in his thoughts and his feet just... brought him here. Whoops? But now that he's been caught, he smiles at her.]

Haha... yeah, if you wouldn't mind? [Now that he's here, he may as well just make sure she doesn't get herself into any trouble. His helicopter parent teacher instincts are acting up. But he doesn't want to make that obvious, so:] I have a pretty hard time staying still myself.

[Which isn't a lie. Jinx wasn't around in Mondstadt, so she wouldn't have seen him constantly patrolling, but it still is something he tries to do even around the camp.]

I. Arriving in Liyue

[It didn't feel like a huge difference between Mondstadt and Liyue till the marsh was entered. Marshes smelled wet in a different way, and Roxas isn't too sure if he could get used to it. Why was there so much water in this world... it was bigger than anywhere he's ever been, too. South Sister wasn't even this massive. And it took a while to get here. At least he isn't too bothered by the traveling.

Here again there was plenty of plants. The horsetail draws his attention, even if he doesn't know the name of it, and he walks into the water without a second thought. After all that cold weather, the water isn't so bad. Roxas wants that horsetail even if the surrounding reeds are almost as tall as he is. Sorry to anyone who gets startled by him just coming out back into the road, holding one of these purple plants.]

Do you know what this is?

[Reeds like this are not something he's ever seen in his travels... most of the plants are. Plants in general. Just tell him all about plants.]

II. Exploring

[If there is one thing Roxas loves, it's heights. So... expect him to get up on hills and some mountains just because he can. Determination is what gets him up some places, but he knows his limits... never climb up what you can't climb down. Gliding will be used a lot.

He can be found all over. Including literally dropping down besides someone. Excuse him, Roxas is like a little kid who is getting to do his first true exploring. Yes, at least he's making sure not to get into too much trouble. He is also good for sending on fetch quests for certain ingredients, if you have a picture to show him of what is needed.]

[Jun also loves heights. So when Roxas ascends to the top of one such scenic hilltop ... Jun will already be at the top, admiring the view stretched out.

When he sees Roxas, he look momentarily surprised, before settling on a polite smile. He's kept his distance a little since Roxas's arrival, but guess there's no avoiding things now]

Before Liyue

(It's time to get off this frozen mountain and climb down to a warmer place.

Once they're off the mountain, the travelers will hear a loud roar in the distance and see something dark approach them from the sky. It flies closer and close until it becomes apparent what it is: A dragon. It flies directly towards the group, making a line right for them…

And Claude runs out to meet it arms held up stop it. Greet it? The dragon lands on the ground heavily and lowers its head down to… nuzzle? Claude is petting it? He's even smiling?!)

Woah, there, big guy. I know, I know. You're feeling lost, right? Don't worry, I've got you.

(It looks over his shoulder, golden eyes glowing. Claude pats it, rubbing at the base of one of its horns,)

They're friends.

(And the wyvern seems to relax. Claude looks back, giving everyone a smile,)

Hey! Yeah so… don't worry.

(He can explain.)

In Liyue

(At the harbor, Claude lights up and immediately takes to talking to the merchants and travelers. It reminds him of the ports in Derdriu, where people from all over would come to trade and share their goods. It had always been the place where he felt like he fit in the most, among so many different people.

He's discussing with one vendor who is trying to sell him some cloth from another land, promising him that it'll keep him warm in the colder months of winter. After coming back from Dragonspine, he admits,)

I'm definitely tempted… (And hello, you, who are clearly also checking out the same seller,) What do you think?

Wildcard/Exploring

(But really, you can find Claude all over. He's exploring Liyue. You can catch him in the towns where he might be having tea and trying to learn from the locals. You can also catch him outside in the plains or the hills, usually with his wyvern that does much better in open places. He might be practicing archery or his with his Vision. You might even catch him with a sword instead.

The only thing to really note is that in the beginning, he won't let many people approach his wyvern. It might be tame but it's not a harmless pet.

Before Liyue

[And here's someone who is not at all deterred by the sight of the wyvern. Rather she watches from a safe distance, noticing the familiarity they have with Claude. Once it seems like the wyvern is more at ease, she lets herself step a little closer - expression bright as always.]

[She has a slight bias for dragons okay. But it also means there's zero fear as she smiles warmly at the pair.]

(Tsurumaru is preparing for tea at one of the inns or something. Or at least, that's what it would look like if you ignored the fact his finger is stuck in a teapot. He's got one finger stuck in the spout and can't seem to get it out.

If you look at him, he makes a face. He straightens his back and huffs, like he's trying to make himself look bigger, and snaps,)

[It's been a very trying few months, and Rose is extremely tired. It's not the first time she's walked into a massacre, but it never gets easier. She can't handle the cold to begin with, and adding the circumstances around their journey pushed her to her limit.]

[Thankfully, she knows how to cope. Rose can very easily be found once they reach the inn. She's in the patio area with a drink in her hand and a plate of food in front of her. If she sees someone she knows, she'll wave for them to come over. Perhaps it's a good idea to chaperone her. It's quite tall up here, after all!]

Here's to being out of that dreadful mountain.

[Wangshu Inn, Part 2 - Homesickness Boogaloo]

[If someone happens on her later, after the crowd has died down, they'll find her at the edge of the platform. Despite the fact that she doesn't like heights, she's content to look into the distance. There's a soft smile on her face--is it the effect of the alcohol, or something else entirely?]

Even though I'm a world away, it still feels like I'm returning home.

[Well, she has to use the money Jun gave her for something.]

[Rose is more than happy to find herself lost in the markets. She's currently looking over a rather nice silk dress--red, with flowers embroidered onto the side of it. She's about to start haggling with a merchant, but if she sees someone from their group, she'll be more than happy to engage them. Who doesn't like shopping?]

[At the top of Wangshu Inn, in the middle of the night, Hu Tao has found her perch on the roof. How did she get up there? Why is she up there?]

[The second question answers itself in short order.]

The delicate goddess blankets her followers in layers of white. Unknowing of her protection, her charges sleep soundly.

[Home Sweet Home]

[Liyue Harbor is where Hu Tao makes her home, and of course! She’s happy to return. Hu Tao is walking through the streets with pep in her step, smiling all the while.]

[Of course, because Liyue is her hometown, Hu Tao has become famous. Perhaps “infamous” is a better word. Everywhere she goes, people gossip in her wake. Is it worth telling her?]

[Of course, no visit to Liyue Harbor would be complete without a visit to her pets. The “pets” in this case are two large stone lion statues outside of a government building. She approaches them in the middle of the day, with two large buckets of water.]

Now, I know you’re all grown up, but I thought I would stop by. I know how lonely you two get.
