July Mid-Month Event
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Two weeks of unease is all Liyue gets to experience before their world is almost turned upside down.

Those with sharp eyes will notice a marked decline in Fatui appearances around Liyue. As for the cause...? These Fatui will now accost you, Traveler, seeking answers to the whereabouts of Rex Lapis' Gnosis. You'll have to flee from them, or otherwise convince them to back off by force. It seems they're very persistent, and their stubbornness is borne from their duty given by the Tsaritsa. Should they fail, her wrath will fall upon them instead. Surely, you can understand, right?

The Fatui's hurried search only lasts for a few days. In the wee hours of 18th December, Liyue will wake to an oppressive storm and rough seas. The bright glow from Guyun Stone Forest and subsequent ear-splitting roar confirms the worst - Osial has risen from the ocean floor, and without Rex Lapis to defend them, Liyue has to take things into their own hands.

It's a race against time for the civilians to climb Mount Tianheng towards relative safety, and for the Millelith to combat smaller water monsters that crawl out from the ocean. The Jade Chamber hovering above Liyue sails towards the storm instead, a last-ditch defensive effort by the Adepti and the Qixing together.

You, Traveler, are destined for something greater. An Adeptus appears before you, beseeching your help. Should you agree, she will teleport you atop the Jade Chamber, where Adepti ballistae are firing against the demon god from above. However, the Adepti manning these contraptions need help to fend off the seemingly never-ending waves of Fatui coming at them. They will also lend you some enchantments to bolster your strength while you fight - the eventual proof that unity can overcome all.

Alas, Osial fires a final blast that fractures the Jade Chamber. Just as all hope seems lost, Forneus' voice sounds in your mind.

It's not over yet. Focus your mind... think of your companions, your dreams, and your wish to liberate this world. Let your hopes illuminate the way forward!

Golden light begins to surround your body, coalescing into an orb in your palm. The light streams out from your hands and into the sky, piercing the demon god's body as a multitude of bright spears. Osial howls as familiar runes appear all over its body, fracturing it in a distinctive manner similar to glass. You glance at the Adepti - none of them seem to have expected this, but none of them seem to disapprove of it, either.

The Jade Chamber is still breaking apart, though. Better leave before it's too late - the Adepti will carry you down to safety.


State of the World

As planned, the Fatui have awakened Osial from its watery prison beneath Guyun Stone Forest. A confrontation with the demon god is inevitable - in the past, Rex Lapis was the one who sealed it away. This time, humanity has to prove that it can stand on its own without the intervention of gods. Forneus will also step in this time, using the power of your adversary to alter the course of history once and for all. After all, the only way to kill a god is to take their aspect away from them... or by repurposing it for something else.

There's also the matter of helping Liyue clean up after that near-tsunami. But this isn't the first time you've helped with disaster relief in Teyvat, yes?

A. Fatui
[Yeah, Elliot had a feeling that working with a shady organization like the Fatui would eventually come back to haunt them. It was only a matter of time before they got twitchy enough to turn on them.

Elliot was a popular target, mostly because out of the travelers, he appears to be one of the weak ones. At first, he does his best to try to convince them that he has no idea what they're asking- he doesn't even know what a gnosis is. For some, this is successful.

But others who try to use a little more force? They'll find that force quickly backfiring, as he counters with a strong gust of wind that blows back their attacks on them. One such instance, Elliot will scramble out of the pathway he was in, before spotting someone and deciding to direct them elsewhere.]

C'mon, it's better we get some distance from here.

[If they look in the direction he came from, there's a Cryo Fatui agent, frozen on the spot]

B. Osial Battle
[he said he wanted to help the people, so that's exactly why he's here. He's on the Jade Chamber's platform, standing back as he uses ameno magic to blow any incoming monsters away. He'll also heal anyone that needs it! Talk about a useful ally.

On the downside, he is very much a squishy mage- so he could use any protect you can give him. Protect your healers guys]

C. Aftermath
[It's not the first time Elliot's helped kill a god-like being, so he's taking the whole thing in stride. Once they're safely back on the ground and things start to return to normal, Elliot is more than willing to help out. He'll check on travelers and anyone who participated in the battle, offering them healing if they need it.

If he's not doing that? He'll be helping with cleaning up debris-- though it's pretty limited to what he can pick up with his strength. And when there's no tasks to help with that, he can be found playing his old trusty violin again on the city streets, doing what he can to help soothe the people through this turbulent month. ]

[Squishy mage, meet glass cannon. Just as Elliot cannot take more than a few hits, neither can Hu Tao. But, she can do enough damage to kill enemies before they become an issue, as well as grab enmity.]

[Hu Tao rushes forward in front of Elliot, her staff on fire. Walnut is coming for ya.]

I'll handle them! Keep me up.

[Oh no. WHO GAVE THE CHILD A FLAMING SPEAR. But the battle is really not the time to argue strategy- so he'll just go with it]

You mean keep you up in the air or keep you healed?

[Since that can mean two very different ways!]

[The same person who gave her a vision, of course. Blame rock grandpa.]

Aiya, both of course!

[Fighting in the air does sound fun.]

But for now, make sure I don't die.

[Dangit Zhongli.

Uh right. He's going to focus on the healing and protection first. ]

You got it!

[He casts another ameno spell, and a barrier of wind builds up around her to help with deflecting and slowing blows. Its not as strong as her rock grandpa's by any means, but it'll certainly help with keeping her safe.

Just in time too, because looks like a Fatui agent has spotted them and is charging at them]

[With that, Hu Tao charges forward, her visage disappearing into a rush of butterflies. She reappears just in front of the Fatui agent, blocking his blow with her spear. By this point, her spear has lost it's firey glimmer, but that's no matter.]

[After holding the agent in place for several seconds, Hu Tao pulls back, only to whip out a ghost. The Fatui agent falls to his knees, though he's not quite down for the count.]

[There's no denying her skill in battle. Even if she's a funeral home director, she certainly knows how to keep up in a fight. She'd probably do well at Thors, were they in Zemuria.

Elliot is ready to back her up. As the agent falls to his knees, Elliot follows up with an anemo attack- hitting them with a strong force of wind to knock them back. It's strong enough to hurt and push him back- either knocking him out or threatening him very close to the edge of the chamber]

[Hu Tao doesn’t enjoy fighting for the sake of it, but she will certainly do it as a means to an end. Liyue is, after all, her city, and these are her people.]

[She takes advantage of the opening Elliot gives her to once again rush forward and attack. If he looks to his side, he’ll notice a swarm of golden butterflies before Hu Tao launches forward and sends the agent flying off the edge.]

[After, she clasps her hands together, and makes a small bow.]

[Ah, the classic death by butterfly. It's similar to an art that Elliot has seen before, so it doesn't throw him off. Elliot has seen some shit ok.

But ah, that's a nice gesture Hu Tao- but also]

Please save the funeral rites for after we live through this!

[He says it like a teacher telling a kid to put their phone away in class. Not angry, just a quick chiding. Don't let yourself get distracted girl we got survivin' to do!]

[If he's honest (and he almost always is), Sooga doesn't care especially much about the people of the city. Helping keep them from being wiped out by a rampaging god is one thing, but as far as he's concerned, cleaning up is part of the people's trial in standing without the god they'd relied on before.

Instead, he's been spending his time making sure the Travelers who do care are looked after enough to keep them from burning out. It's for this reason he seeks out Elliot while the smaller man plays his violin, settling in with a pot of tea, two cups, and a pointed stare as he waits for the duck-like lad to take notice.]

[Luckily Sooga does tend to stand out. He notices him right away as he approaches, but he only gives a quick smile before he returns to playing- making sure to finish up with his song. When he's done, he gives a bow at the people clapping and tells them he's taking a break.

Once that's all done, he'll head over to Sooga]

Hey Sooga! Did you bring this for me?

[Internally, Sooga sighs in relief. By and large, Elliot has been one of the more reasonable ones about minding his limits so far as he's observed, and it's good to see the trend continue.

Externally, the Yiga nods, pouring them both some tea.]

I did. It's easier to make sure people stay hydrated if you provide the drinks yourself.

[Yep he tends to be reasonable about looking after himself. His only true fatal flaw is not going to sleep if he's caught up on a project- but that's Rean's job to worry about. For now, he'll smile and have a seat at the table]

Haha, makes sense. Thank you though, I was starting to get a little thirsty!

[He lets out a low noise of amusement.]

No need for thanks. It's as much a break for me as it is for you.

Oh really?

I take it you've been busy yourself then.

Very. Not all of our companions are as good at looking after themselves without prompting as you are, unfortunately.

[fiddlestick]

Eheh, I see. So you're checking in with everyone.

[The battle for Liyue needs to be by human and spirits. Not a man who can be both human and beast. Shirou had found a compromise. Using the anemo energies as he had before to cloak himself, his beastman body looks more like an adeptus.

His eyes glow with the green magic and the slash across the white fur of his neck seems more stylized. He's also traded his usual clothes in for something matching the defenders of the city but common enough not to be questioned.

He bats aside a monster that had been heading for Elliot and silently glances at him motioning with one hand.]

I can hear them reading another assault. Brace yourself. [Thanks to anemo magic his voice seems to echo. But he seems utterly at home with it, as he nods once and turns to face the monsters surging forth.]

[Shirou put more thought into the optics of this battle than Elliot. Mostly, Elliot just agreed to help without much thought because he knew people needed help. Nothing more to it than that.

He's grateful when Shirou bats the monster aside heading for him. He's fought alongside Shirou a few times now, and no matter what form he's in - he's someone he can rely on in a fight. ]

Thanks, got it!

[His own voice will echo on the wind, as he works to cast another volley of magic. A wind shield will appear around Shirou and himself- helping to fend off any attacks from monsters. That'll buy a little more time as Elliot charges up attacks]

[An Earth caster Fatui brings their staff up. Shirou charges forward and the anemo magic expands burying his beastman form in a glowing wolf instead. The mage pauses and the gunner beside them snaps their gun up to take aim.

The wolf sways to the side, seeming to shed to the right to dodge the hydro gunner. In reality he's giving Elliot a shot at them while he aims his body straight for the earth mage. He won't let them shield.

It would be a pain to deal with. A growl builds in his chest and rumbles like the promise of thunder.]

[Elliot is good at working in teams, having trained in just that back in military school. So he can recognize a feint when he sees one- and take the opportunity.

The spell charged, several blades of wind go flying at the fatui agents. He doesn't bother with aiming at the Earth Caster, but instead slams the blades into the hydro gunner. The force of the blow causes the gun to jerk to the side- the deluge of cold water slamming into his earth caster partner and catching him by surprise-- knocking down his shield and leaving him open for Shirou]

[It's a perfect shot and he'd be a fool not to take it. Shirou lowers his head and rams into the earth caster. They're sent flying off the platform as he whirls around and drops the wolf form. He's back in Beastman with his fist wrapped in wind. He slams his fist into the hydro gunner.

He's rocked to the side but not off the platform. But he's left wide open to be knocked off thanks to Shirou drawing back and the wind wrapping around him. It's already reshaping into the wolf.]

[They make quite the team, the two of them. While Shirou was taking on the earth caster and the hydro gunner, Elliot was already readying his next volley. This time he uses his ARCUS, blue glyphs appearing around him as he channels the magic]

ARCUS, activate!

[A flash of blue light appears, and then a large blades of ice go flying at the gunner. They slam into them hard and freeze the already wet gunner as the force pushes them straight over the edge]

[Shirou glances once over the side and snorts. It's all the time they have as a fire bullet whizzes past his ear. He looks up and a fire gunner has sighted him. They're backed up by an electro hammer wielder.

And, an electro witch. Her spark bugs zip around as her haunting laughter drifts on the air. He sights her as she sways and glances at Elliot, 'witch first' he mouths then he charges into the fray.]

[Great, more of them. Elliot hasn't let his guard down- never do so until you're sure it's safe - so he's ready. He gives Shirou a nod, showing he understands. Yeah, the witch is the most dangerous one.

So he charges up his ARCUS agan. This time, he takes advantage of the water on the platform to freeze the ground under the witche's feet -- pinning her so it's harder for her to move around. ]
