Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Happy new year....! In Teyvat, that is. It is now January ingame, and Liyue's people go about their disaster recovery efforts with more vigour than before. After all, Liyue's biggest festival is slated to occur in the latter half of the month - the Lantern Rite!

The Rite of Parting - Rex Lapis' funeral - passes without much incident, and Liyue collectively breathes a sigh of relief. With the Fatui being chased out of the yard, it seems that peace will finally return to the harbour city as they rebuild from the storm. You'll also get to watch three million Mora's worth of incense go up in smoke, so there's that.

Eager to focus on the future, Liyue folk have begun discussing the upcoming festival. The Lantern Rite commemorates hope for a new beginning and continued prosperity, and the construction of the festival centerpiece is currently underway. This year's Mingxiao Lantern will soar into the sky amidst thousands of smaller lanterns, and it will take the shape of a fallen Adeptus to commemorate the Adepti's contribution to Liyue's lasting peace.

Unfortunately, you're not quite out of the frying pan yet. With the Fatui gone from Liyue, the Ministry of Civil Affairs turn their attention to solving another issue that has cropped up after Osial's revival and subsequent defeat. Quite a few miners have gone missing from the Chasm, and the likelihood of finding them will only grow slimmer as the days go by. Both the Millelith and the Adventurers' Guild have pitched in to search for the kidnapped people. All clues lead to Nantianmen - and it's just your luck that Geovishaps and their hatchlings have come out of hibernation at around the same time. These lizard-like beings have shells of solid rock, and they seem especially agitated at having their territory invaded. Solving the mystery of the missing miners will take more than just a day's work.

State of the World

With the Lantern Rite set to open on January 21st, all of Liyue have come to visit the harbour to set up their stalls and pitch in to craft the Mingxiao Lantern. Hopefully the miners are found before the festival begins - the Lantern Rite is a festival of reunions, after all. Not to mention the Geovishaps' increased activity will inadvertently lead to them burrowing around in the rocky mountains. There's a small, but non-zero chance of them hitting an ancient seal somewhere and unleashing a buried threat.

Unless... that was their intention all along?

[Like many things in life, Jun is ambivalent to the concept of breakfast. ]

I don't have a preference. But with how much you smell, I'd imagine the other patrons wouldn't appreciate you sitting in a closed room with them.

Sometimes I crawl through sewers and shit holes so of course I smell like garbage. Just look at me. I'm practically broke and have no real standing.

[ He doesn't even deny it. Sometimes he would chase a monster all the way into the depths and leaves him smelling funky. ]

I got kicked out of a few buildings. They're the assholes, not me. I'm a paying customer so I'd just like breakfast and then I'll leave.

[ There's a pause and he looks at Jun curiously. ]

You need to eat.

Right, that's unfortunate, but...you should've gotten a place to stay from Forneus. The teapot? [...] Have you not used it yet?

[He looks confused at that last part. Where'd that come from?]

Er, I do?

I've got the teapot, yes. I feel more comfortable sleeping outside in some bushes and grass.

[ He's grown too accustomed to the hobo life to care for life in a teapot. Honestly. ]

Even if I bathe people don't change their tunes so I do whatever the hell I want.

[ He's permanently stinky but Jun does have a point. Using the teapot more might help solve some problems. ]

Just make sure you eat everything. I sold some of my weapons so that I could make enough coins.

[ He's not going to miss a few daggers or short swords, but he can't bear to part with his whip or the morning star. Some weapons are too important to let go of. ]

[He nods once and then shrugs. It's not too big of a deal to him.]

He did bring us to this world to complete a job for him, so it's only apt he pay a commission fee for my services.

I only ever ask that guy for beer. Maybe I should get more compensation myself.

[ good thinking, Jun. Trevor wonders why he never thought of that before. Though, really Jun is smart for his age. ]

How much is he paying you exactly??

Me? Well I'm charging him the standard rate for someone of my capabilities, plus some additional fees to accommodate the unique characteristics of this commission so per month it's about...

[Insert a ridiculously high amount of mora here. Like the kind of money that makes one go "damn son that's insane"]

For the love of all that is holy that's more mora than any regular citizen would dream of seeing in their life time.

[Yeah, Jun is loaded so surely he can afford meals and have a decent living situation? It's completely the opposite of Trevor who by nature is kind of broke. He sleeps in bushes at night and wakes up with grass in his clothing. ]

What would you even do with that much coins? Buy beef everyday?

Yes well, I do do things that any regular citizen would never dream of doing in their life time either.

Haha, no not exactly - it gets divided up. A portion of it goes to my living expenses, as well as the expenses of people who assist me. I also put some aside to give to the group I work for back home.

Then anything that's left over after I do all that, I give to charity.
