Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
The Miko of the Grand Narukami Shrine has arranged for your passage out of Ritou and into the Inazuma islands at large. The nation has been gripped by an oppressive atmosphere ever since the enactment of the Vision Hunt Decree, and only someone unyoked by the Electro Archon can hope to break this stalemate.

Konda Village sits on the outskirts of Inazuma city. A pillar of its community now seeks to move out after losing his Vision. A samurai employed by the Shogunate is being accosted of hiding rations by his neighbours, and he has no recollection of ever dealing in such matters. Forgetting something seems to be the thread that links every former Vision holder's story together, yet their tragedies differ greatly in circumstance. Is the loss of a Vision truly so profound? If so, then why did the gods deliver such a poisoned gift to their people?

A mysterious priestess approaches you with a sincere request - Kazari seeks your aid in purifying the Thunder Sakura around Inazuma, as well as the Sacred Sakura on Mount Yougou. She tells you that these trees absorb the evil from the very land, but cannot dispel it without outside intervention. Here's where you come in: you need to dispel the sealing sigils around the holy trees, so that the filth accumulated within their roots can take form and then be swiftly cut down.

The seals, the trees, and Kazari herself are relics from the olden days - the mystical Inazuma, where kitsune and tengu lived and worked alongside humans and their god. But those days have since ended, and all that is left is a stifling eternity.

State of the World

The Land of Eternity is not without failings. By pursuing 'Eternity' and closing the doors of her nation, the Raiden Shogun has only made the lives of her people more difficult. Exploring the country may give you some clues as to how you can break her enforced stasis. You must first understand the situation of the nation, and then find the natives who also wish to change their world.

Oh, yeah, it definitely would for you, then. Sorry, sometimes I kind of forget you're a holy knight... I've met some people in I guess kind of similar roles back home, but it's just such a foreign concept for me it's a little hard to wrap my head around.

That's ok. Seal Knights are very rare and we prefer to keep a low profile, so we're strange to most people. Under normal circumstances, I probably wouldn't have revealed my identity to you.

[But well, this mission didn't work out that way. Oh well.]

I'm curious about knights in your world, but I suspect you don't know much about them either.

Yeah, I'm sure. Unfortunately, I'm starting to wonder if "my life" and "normal circumstances" are ever going to wind up in the same story again, much less the same sentence.

Mm, yeah, unfortunately not. I'm sure you're not surprised to hear they keep a low profile. But, like I said, my life rarely lines up with "normal circumstance," so I've met a few.

I know they're essentially knights in the employ of the Septian Church, which is the main religion in Zemuria. They tend to have a "squire" that accompanies them and helps them with their work, and they've got some kind of magic on their side. [Thomas' mini-dimensions were NOT an art, Rean knows that much.] The main ones I've spoken to recently tend to deal in ancient artifacts and records, but I don't really know why. I just help out where I can.

Haha, a good question, unfortunately. You do seem to live a rather eventful life.

It's vague, but it's more information than he was expecting. And it didn't sound like exaggerated rumors either, which was nice. ]

It's a different church, but it sounds similar enough. [Just like it did with Father Hansa, Father Abel, and Natori. He wonders how those three are doing...he did miss their company. ] Though, while we have our own collection of ancient artifacts and records, seeking them out isn't really a priority.

I kind of wondered if that would be the case. And to be honest... I don't know if the artifact thing is the Church's priority or just Rosine and Father Thomas' priority.

[He's not going to hide their identities. It's not like Jun is ever going to meet them, and even if he somehow does it's not like they'll be able to stay hidden for long.]

For all I know, the others could have wildly different missions. But those two were undercover at the military academy I attended, and Rosine is staying in the area where I work for now, so they're my main points of reference.

[Yeah it's true he'd probably smell the Jesus on them or something.]

Though, that's quite the coincidence for the church to have agents near you twice. You really must have a strange life.

I mean, I'm not gonna deny that last bit, but I'm not sure Rosine being in Leeves has much to do with me. If it has anything to do with anything even related to me, I think it's probably just that she's assigned to keep an eye on the Branch Campus.

We've got a number of... shall I say, "colorful" figures working there. I'm not sure I'm even the weirdest member of the faculty.

I'm pretty sure Principal Le Guin's idea of a "background check" is "are you good at what you do" and that's kind of where it ends.

Don't get me wrong, I don't dislike any of my coworkers— I really like most of them. One of them was a close friend before we started working together, even!

It's just... well, it's not like it's all about us. Our government has the final say on most of what happens with our school. And they don't... exactly have our wellbeing in mind sometimes, let's just put it that way. Students and faculty alike.

So in other words...the government is doing something at that school that's made the Septian Church uneasy enough to send someone to keep watch in case a Knight needs to intervene. [Yeah. That's bad. That's real bad. He sighs]

Truthfully, I'd recommend finding a job at another school as quickly as possible for your own safety. But knowing you, you know about all this because you're incapable of not sticking your nose in other peoples' problems ... so I'm going to assume any warning I give will go unheeded.

The government is pretty much entirely the problem here, yeah. Principal Le Guin can be... a lot, for sure, but at the end of the day she runs a pretty tight ship. She's the one making sure things are actually pleasant for all of us. And I'm positive if it were up to her, the school would not be involved with half the stuff it is.

Our class was sort of an experimental thing? Mixing together nobles and commoners alike, and then sending us out to various places around Erebonia to help out the locals and learn more about how people around the Empire lived firsthand.

Not gonna lie, it was a lot of work, and it was never easy. But my old classmates are still my best friends, and I wouldn't be who I am now without that experience and without having known them.

Yeah, it really was. And still is, at least for the most part— the students at the Branch Campus undergo the same sort of field studies.

Are your friends also people you met in school, or are they from your... other activities?

Haha, I'm sure. It was a lot more common a few centuries ago on Earth too. But these days, it's mostly fallen out of favor aside from a few countries here and there.

Perhaps so, but I think that's true for most people in this group. August is from a version of Earth that's near my time period, but even he lives across the world from me.

It's the truth, no sense in denying it. [The sky is blue, the sun rises in the east, Ryouta's a dumbass] Haha...I was pretty much stunned speechless. Kou and Shiori had to rush in to clear up the confusion.

After that, I became friends with the three of them. [Sure, it was a wild way to start living in the outside world, but it was a happy memory for him. ]
