It's a genre of stories. Usually about young heroes with a lot of action and fight scenes.

Sounds like the best kind of genre. Unless we're talking scientific fiction.

In that case, you'd probably like Galactic Conquest. [Aka bootleg Star Wars] It's not exactly the shonen but it's basically the same tropes.

Too bad copies of it probably don't exist in this world...

What's it about specifically?

[ He likes the CONQUEST part, although he's not the kind of guy who tries to take things over. ]

Well, it takes place "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away". There's this evil empire that's taken over the entire galaxy, but there's a brave rebellion fighting against them. In the first movie, their only hope is this young man who can use this mysterious power. He goes on a quest to save a princess, and after that both of them and their friends embark to save the galaxy.

At least, that's the plot of the first movie trilogy. Apparently there's a prequel trilogy and a sequel trilogy and a bunch of spin-offs - but I haven't had time to watch them yet.

[He watches and reads a lot of stuff, but when you go to high school AND have knight duties - free time is somewhat limited ok]

Oh! And there's laser sword fights.

Laser swords? How does that work?

Well...

[How to explain? Okay you know what, he's going to grab one of the sheets of paper and draw a lightsaber- I MEAN A LASER SWORD. He points to different parts of the drawing as he talks]

Okay so here's the hilt. It's made out of metal or something like that, and it's what stays around when the sword's off.

And this is the laser blade. In theory, it's a laser that can cut through most materials but also concentrated enough where it can parry other laser swords.

It's just a story so it's probably not plausible-- [THAT SAID--] -- But I have a theory that it could work if you concentrate Light Element enough to form the blade, and then mix in Steel or Geo element to stabilize the beam. Though you'd need to find a usable power source or someone with high enough proficiency in both elements to pull it off.
