MAY MINGLE

May Mingle: Entombed City
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Everyone's hard work resulted in the gate to upper Dragonspine opening. These ruins have not been traversed in years, if not centuries - everything within has been lost to time and living memory. An entire city has been buried in the snow.

Traces of technology can be found in the city - golden boxes that contain crystals capable of recording and playing back holograms. One of the boxes introduces this place as Vindagnyr; a land once full of greenery and life. Just what happened to these people? What caused the eternal winter?

The city's inhabitants worshipped Celestia. Why then were they left to die?
State of the World
On October 1st, the entombed city of Vindagnyr becomes open for exploration. Travelers can choose to look for clues or try to scavenge the city for ancient materials or tools. Recording boxes all around the city tell stories of Vindagnyr's greener past, and of the days when winter suddenly arrived. This is the cruelty of Celestia that Forneus wished you to see.
For all questions regarding May's mingle and events, please head over to our OOC post.

Rean, a young man traumatized by the constant death that seems to follow him, has just wandered off of a mountain full of corpses, only to be told that his next steps in life are to be deicide.]
There... there has to be another way!
[He says this, and he sounds so impassioned, and yet... there's a hollowness to it, a desperation. Please let there be another way, it's as if he's saying.]
I don't... there's already been so much death. Why...
B-besides, if we were to kill them all, that includes you, doesn't it?!

I accept my death, Rean. I have seen the countless possible fates that Celestia has planned for this world. Civilizations rise, and then eventually fall, because humanity reaches out for the stars and the potential that will let them surpass the gods. My existence is a small price to pay for freeing them from meaningless recursion.
[ He meets Rean's gaze with calmness, his crimson eyes unwavering. ]
If not to kill them, then to weaken their hold over the laws of this world. Make them human. Make them understand. I cannot, because I too am a god. But a mortal might.

Is Rean cursed, that no matter where he is the specter of death seems to lurk not far behind? No... it's selfish to think that any of this is something that he alone could cause. Or fix, for that matter.]
...Maybe you do. But... I can't accept it. Or, at the very least... I can't accept the title of executioner.
[His voice is weaker now. Forneus may be calm, but Rean... well, he's trying to hold himself together, but anyone could see that he couldn't be further from "calm" right now. It's a great thing that Rean has no idea how to let out his emotions in any sort of healthy manner! (That counts as great, right?)]
I can... I can try to weaken all of you. Whatever you do with your mortal lives from there, it's... none of my concern, right? [He says, as if he wouldn't break down if any of them chose death after that, but that's just not something he can consider right now.] But I can't...
I've caused so much pain already. So many people have already lost their lives because of me. I can't... even knowing it'll save more people... [His voice catches, then breaks, and it's clear he's not quite talking about Teyvat with his next words:] Even if it'll end the war faster...
I'm not... I'm not strong enough. Killing... it's too much. I can't.

I will not force you to do anything you do not wish to, as per terms of our contract. [ He's still keen on being a good employer, it seems. ] My ability to predict the future only extends to the people of this world. But for you, a visitor from another star; none on this world are able to interfere with your destiny. Your potential could realize a different future, one that I am unable to envision.
[ Which is, again, the reason he needed people from other worlds. ]
If anyone can resolve this situation without the use of my plan, then it would be you and your friends.

Rean takes a deep breath and tries his best to sound mature and rational. Which doesn't really work, but hey, an attempt was made and therefore no one can criticize him.]
...Then all we can do is try to find another way, I guess. I can't imagine most of the others will be on board with this, either.
[At least, not the ones he's befriended!]
I... guess that's all I had for you. I'll be off to speak with the others now, if that's all right.
[Well, first he's going to go scream into something, probably, but Forneus doesn't need to know about that part.]

[ As Forneus has said, he doesn't want to force people to do what they don't want. ]
Come back anytime if you wish to speak to me again. I appreciate what you are doing for me. Also, please get some rest.

...I'll try my best.
[Although he has a feeling he'll have nothing but nightmares for the foreseeable future.
Still, with that, he's gone.]
