MAY MINGLE

May Mingle: Entombed City
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Everyone's hard work resulted in the gate to upper Dragonspine opening. These ruins have not been traversed in years, if not centuries - everything within has been lost to time and living memory. An entire city has been buried in the snow.

Traces of technology can be found in the city - golden boxes that contain crystals capable of recording and playing back holograms. One of the boxes introduces this place as Vindagnyr; a land once full of greenery and life. Just what happened to these people? What caused the eternal winter?

The city's inhabitants worshipped Celestia. Why then were they left to die?
State of the World
On October 1st, the entombed city of Vindagnyr becomes open for exploration. Travelers can choose to look for clues or try to scavenge the city for ancient materials or tools. Recording boxes all around the city tell stories of Vindagnyr's greener past, and of the days when winter suddenly arrived. This is the cruelty of Celestia that Forneus wished you to see.
For all questions regarding May's mingle and events, please head over to our OOC post.

...He mentioned that if one of us were to die, he'd bring us back. [Which, Rean has no idea how that's supposed to work, people don't just come back, but Rean already knows most of this god stuff is beyond him.] So why didn't he save those two?

Their souls were unbound. When they died, their souls disappeared.
(Fwoosh-y hand motion into the air,)
This time, he's tied our souls to his.
no subject
Sure hope he unbinds us before he goes through with his whole deicide plan.
[NOT THAT REAN WANTS TO GO THROUGH WITH THAT, BUT LIKE. WHAT THE HELL FORNEUS]
no subject
He did what?!
[THIS? THIS IS BAD.]

He... bound our souls to his? So we won't die??
[This makes as much sense to him as any other god stuff, to be honest? He's just annoyed he wasn't TOLD.]
I... take it your alarm has something to do with your whole Knight thing...?

But gah. At that question Jun has a brief expression like he just got caught redhanded. Dammit...why did Rean have to be smart enough to put things together. No- it's his own fault for reacting. Shameful--]
-- Nn.
[He seems to struggle for a moment as he tries to figure out what he can say and how to say it]
It's...It is true gods can bind a person's soul to them, and this bond could be used to preserve someone's life. But the ones I know about ....they're permanent. And if something were to go wrong with the bond...
[...]
You remember that memory of mine you saw? That was a case of a demonic binding but...the results are similar.
[So bad. Real real bad]
But time gods are different and more powerful than typical gods, so maybe his bonds work differently.

—I'm hitting one of the things you can't talk about, aren't I? I'm sorry, I didn't mean— you don't have to—
[But Jun's continuing anyway, and so Rean just shuts up and listens.
...
Oh.
Yeah. Yeah, that explains the freak out, all right. Rean... can very much understand not wanting something like that to happen to your soul. He's got his own issues with something vaguely similar, after all.]
...Right. It could just be that he's powerful enough to prevent anything like that from happening. Or... perhaps it could be that the way, um... soul... magic... ["I am too normie for this, help" says the demonic mecha pilot] works in this world is different from the way it works back home?
It might not be a bad idea to take it up with Forneus, though. Just to make sure you and everyone else are safe.

...No, it's fine. Cases like that are well known throughout the Underground, and it's relevant information.
[Though granted, Rean was able to connect the dots better than a lot of other groups in the Underground did. But there was no one from his world here, so no need to worry about that
But talking to Forneus...hmm...]
Yeah... Though I think you should do it. [There's reason for it too!] This topic trends too close to things I'm really not supposed to talk about, so you'd have more freedom to get the information we need.

As far as Rean connecting the dots faster... well, when it doesn't have to do with his personal relationships, Rean's actually pretty adept at figuring people out. It's how he's so good as a group therapy dog, after all. But also, it's not like he hasn't talked fairly in-depth with Jun about his work (you know, as much as he can without hitting on Touchier Subjects) or taken a walk through his head.
Makes it a whole lot easier to get from point A to point B.]
Ah... you think so? [Oh. Well, those are good reasons, actually. Rean's not about to deny Jun his privacy.] ...Mm, fair enough.
I'm not sure I'm ready to go back to him just yet, but as soon as I've pulled myself together a bit more I'll be sure to ask for you.
no subject
No need to rush yourself, I don't think it's a question that needs to be answered right away. [It was important, but there were many other things that took higher priority.]
...Thank you.
