MAY MINGLE

May Mingle: Entombed City
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.

Everyone's hard work resulted in the gate to upper Dragonspine opening. These ruins have not been traversed in years, if not centuries - everything within has been lost to time and living memory. An entire city has been buried in the snow.

People once lived there. The broken buildings host damaged furniture and weathered streets. There are various cloth-covered mounds in a house here and there, accompanied by a sprig of blue flowers. Someone has laid these people to rest after they passed away.

Traces of technology can be found in the city - golden boxes that contain crystals capable of recording and playing back holograms. One of the boxes introduces this place as Vindagnyr; a land once full of greenery and life. Just what happened to these people? What caused the eternal winter?

The highest point in the city is occupied by a temple built into a Domain. Within the Domain is a pale white tree, split in half by a strange object that has fallen through the Domain's ceiling. This temple was once a site for worship for Vindagnyr's people, and even in death they continue to pray for salvation. The priests have been frozen in ice, and the sheer cold emanating from the Skyfrost Nail makes it obvious that it is the cause of winter.

The city's inhabitants worshipped Celestia. Why then were they left to die?

State of the World

On October 1st, the entombed city of Vindagnyr becomes open for exploration. Travelers can choose to look for clues or try to scavenge the city for ancient materials or tools. Recording boxes all around the city tell stories of Vindagnyr's greener past, and of the days when winter suddenly arrived. This is the cruelty of Celestia that Forneus wished you to see.

[He makes a "mm" sound and takes a closer look at the crown, thinking to himself for a moment]

If I'm not mistaken, that's made of wood from a Spirit Tree. They're a type of tree with special magical properties. They usually only grow in places with high spiritual energy, so they're often associated with gods if not outright worshipped themselves.

Wood from these trees are very versatile, from protection wards to holy weapons. However, it's a difficult task to harvest and carve the wood. Spirit Smiths on Earth will study for years to hone their technique, and the few who manage to master it often become rather renown among the Underground.

[He makes a thoughtful sound as he puts his hand to his chin] There was a dead spirit tree in the temple. Based on that and this circlet, I'd imagine the Vindagnyr knew how to tend spirit trees and work with the wood. Not sure if they used it for more than ceremonial purposes though.

[ As usual, whenever Jun spoke, Ledah listened closely and rather carefully. Though the reason for this time being slightly different from the last time. ]

I see. Then for now, this wouldn't have much relevance except for possibly being used in a ceremony of some sort.

Which, I don't doubt.

[ He'll put it away. He figured the ceremony would, also coincidentally, have something to do with the gods, likely to appease them somehow in some way. Or to use the tree for some other purpose. Well, he didn't think it deserved further scrutiny at this time. ]

[he nods]

Mm. Whatever magic that crown held seems to have diminished over time. Someone with knowledge of how to work with spirit wood might be able to repurpose the crowns for some other use, but I'm not sure who in Teyvat today has those skills.

[He pause, thinking]

Perhaps the alchemists or the adepti? If I were to guess.

[ He seemed to consider what Jun had said carefully. Once again, he didn't doubt the other was wrong; he appeared to have learned more on the subject than he had for example, after all. ]

...Do you think it would be helpful to us to have it repurposed?

[He shrugs. The Orden had no real taboo against reusing items from the dead. He was not the first wielder of Arc Legus, and he probably wouldn't be the last. ]

Possibly. Spirit wood is rather valuable. Considering the mission we're being tasked with, we'll need any advantage we can get.

You are correct.

[ ...Albedo was a Chief Alchemist (Ledah was more antisocial earlier on and did not deign to introduce himself at the time but he remembered everyone who did), or something to that effect, but...well, that had been earlier on, however not everyone who had started out with them still remained with the group.

However, if he recalled correctly, there was still an adept among them. Xiao, was it? ]

I will do my best to see what can be done. As I understand it, we do have an adept with us.

[Jun nods. He doesn't know if Ledah is referring to Zhongli or another adeptus that he hadn't gotten to know yet. Doesn't matter either way, he supposes. If anyone would know about this, or frankly about any subject within Teyvat, it'd be Zhongli.]

Mm. I hope they know something, or can point us in the direction of someone that knows.

[ At the very least, he'd probably end up asking Zhongli about it as well, or before he'd approach another because this mun absolutely forgot he was one.

Either way, he'll nod himself. ]

We will see, but I can't imagine it wouldn't end up as one or the other, which would still be beneficial to us in some way.

Mm.

Let me know what you find out.

[That's right he's leaving Ledah to do this. Interacting with people is good for him!]

I will.

[ Though it is a meeting, Ledah will leave this conversation as it is.

That being said, he will also keep in mind for checking in with Jun beyond important topics because they were friends, and everyone seemed to be bothered with all of this.

However, since around this time because it seemed that matters were winding down, he figured he could make a departure to try to find a relevant party for this questioning. Or check if Zhongli was in the meeting. ]
