May Mingle: Entombed City
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Everyone's hard work resulted in the gate to upper Dragonspine opening. These ruins have not been traversed in years, if not centuries - everything within has been lost to time and living memory. An entire city has been buried in the snow.

People once lived there. The broken buildings host damaged furniture and weathered streets. There are various cloth-covered mounds in a house here and there, accompanied by a sprig of blue flowers. Someone has laid these people to rest after they passed away.

Traces of technology can be found in the city - golden boxes that contain crystals capable of recording and playing back holograms. One of the boxes introduces this place as Vindagnyr; a land once full of greenery and life. Just what happened to these people? What caused the eternal winter?

The highest point in the city is occupied by a temple built into a Domain. Within the Domain is a pale white tree, split in half by a strange object that has fallen through the Domain's ceiling. This temple was once a site for worship for Vindagnyr's people, and even in death they continue to pray for salvation. The priests have been frozen in ice, and the sheer cold emanating from the Skyfrost Nail makes it obvious that it is the cause of winter.

The city's inhabitants worshipped Celestia. Why then were they left to die?

State of the World

On October 1st, the entombed city of Vindagnyr becomes open for exploration. Travelers can choose to look for clues or try to scavenge the city for ancient materials or tools. Recording boxes all around the city tell stories of Vindagnyr's greener past, and of the days when winter suddenly arrived. This is the cruelty of Celestia that Forneus wished you to see.

They're great! Xion and Lea are my best friends. Then there's Isa, Pence, Olette, and Hayner. We all live in the same town and spend a lot of time together. Namine visits when she can, and she's super good at art. [Which is objective.] The last place I was in, Sora was there. Sora is... he has to be my favorite person. I miss him a lot, and I hope he got to go home.

[oh no, this is really cute. And honestly, just hearing this kid talk so happily about his friends is a nice distraction from the horror of this town]

Haha, wow, you got a lot friends! That's lucky too! [Good. People have friends. But "favorite person", huh?] Was this Sora with you where you were before?

[Doesn't everyone have a favorite person??]

Yeah! It was great. We did a lot of stuff together. And... [He sighs softly.] It feels complicated? I don't know how to describe it fully, but as happy as I am he's not here, it'd be nice if he was. Doesn't everyone have someone like that?

[And the adorable continues. He smiles]

Oh, I think you get what you mean! That's Rean for me. I worry about him, especially when he gets reckless, but I do feel better whenever he's around. Like things are just a little brighter, you know?

Yeah! Sora is a lot like sunshine. Though I think he might get embarrassed if someone calls him that.

[Who wouldn't want to be called sunshine, though.]

Haha, well it is a little cheesy. Teenage guys can get a little sensitive about that stuff.

[Which he is assuming this Sora guy is, considering Roxas's age]

Sora can be super cheesy. He should be used to it! Next time I see him I'll call him sunshine and see what he does. Which better be when we're both home again.

[Elliot chuckles.]

Now that's one way to welcome someone home! I'm sure it'll be quite the reaction.

Yeah. [Roxas pauses for a moment.] It makes me kind of wish I could keep in contact with people in other words. I could record it and send it...

[He can relate to this. This would be much easier if he could at least call the other members of Class VII or his family...]

Why don't you try writing letters to them? I mean, you can't send them right now, but you can always show them when you get home.

I find it's a good way to feel like you're talking to people you miss.

I could do that... There'd be a lot of people to write to.

[Though he could make the one for his household just be one big letter. Though if Sora wasn't home yet, then those letters would just sit for a while.

It still would be something to do.]

I'm not gonna write while on this mountain, though. I don't want them to fall into the snow.

That's alright. Different friends like different things? So I'm sure you'd be able to come up with new things to say.

[Since really, the main point was just to give him something to write about- a way to connect to his friends even when they're far away]

Good thought. Wait until we're back at camp at least.

That's true. I could always just write about the food here.

[Since this food might not be what he's used to from back home.]

It'd be easier if we had working phones. They have notepad apps.

Ah, yes. That's always a option!

[he does hope this kid finds more to talk about than just THAT but...whatever!]

Oh, my phone works actually [What] Though I think I'm still more comfortable with actual writing than typing.

Wait... you came here with a phone?

[He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his ARCUS - albeit with a red cover instead of blue. He flips it open and sure enough it's a phone with some magical crystals at the bottom- though only some of them are glowing.]

It took awhile for the Master Quartz that powers it to work again, and I can't get any of my calls to connect - but all the apps work fine!

[Somehow gummiphones are smaller??? And the smartphones in the last world fit very comfortably in Roxas' hand.]

What kind of apps do you have? My last phone had a sleep and meditation app on it.

Eheh, well it's also used to channel magic. [His thumb will indicate at the gems near the bottom] So they can only make it so small.

A meditation app, I wish I had something like that... [it'd help so much with anxiety!] Mostly I just have music on here. There's a camera too and girl back home got me to install some game, but I haven't gotten around to playing it much yet.

Why are you channeling magic through a phone...

[What kind of world does that.]

I hated having it even if it was useful. [Games?] What kind of games?

Haha, I could explain...but I'm not sure you want to hear me give a lecture about orbal arts and energy. Let's just say it's the easiest way to cast magic where I'm from.

[Cause yeah he gets the sense that'd be real boring for this kid to listen to, especially when it's not really relevant to Teyvat

Also figures he'd hate the meditation app. Oh well.] It's called Pom Pom Party. You match same colored creatures for points while trying to beat whoever you're playing against. Though without another working phone around, my only opponent is the computer...

Mm! There's a lot of kids your age that enjoy it back home. If you ever want to give it a try, just let me know! I wouldn't mind letting you use my phone for a bit.

[He wouldn't be able to cast any magic from it since it's made for Elliot's specifications, but hey phone game!]

[No, it would be. He's known a few test tube kiddos that were much younger than they looked.]

Eheh, well consider it a good way to practice using technology. Phones are an excellent way to keep in touch with friends, so it'd be good to get comfortable using one.

... that is true... I only got to use a smartphone for a few months back in South Sister, and I know I didn't understand it fully.
