MAY MINGLE

May Mingle: Entombed City
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Everyone's hard work resulted in the gate to upper Dragonspine opening. These ruins have not been traversed in years, if not centuries - everything within has been lost to time and living memory. An entire city has been buried in the snow.

Traces of technology can be found in the city - golden boxes that contain crystals capable of recording and playing back holograms. One of the boxes introduces this place as Vindagnyr; a land once full of greenery and life. Just what happened to these people? What caused the eternal winter?

The city's inhabitants worshipped Celestia. Why then were they left to die?
State of the World
On October 1st, the entombed city of Vindagnyr becomes open for exploration. Travelers can choose to look for clues or try to scavenge the city for ancient materials or tools. Recording boxes all around the city tell stories of Vindagnyr's greener past, and of the days when winter suddenly arrived. This is the cruelty of Celestia that Forneus wished you to see.

[ Because time gods are a fragmented, multifaceted existence, they can never really be killed unless they wish to end themselves. ]
Whatever future humanity forges for themselves will be their own responsibility. Should the nature of human hearts be filled with light, then they will prosper. Should they be filled with darkness, then they will bring their own ruin.
[ So, he's really advocating for an entirely hands-off approach. ]

Aren't you special. Well then, all-seeing god of time - where do you think humanity will go from here, if we manage to kill you and your comrades?

[ He just answered your question pls ]
The special thing about humanity is their infinite potential. Rather than stunt it, I would see it be put to use by their own volition.
no subject
That is the thing about humans, yes. But if left unchecked, their limitless potential could lead to something more destructive. They'd be smart enough to utilize technology strong enough to kill gods with just a push of a button, for example.
[ he would know. he'd been there. ]
Would you let it happen if it ever comes to that, Forneus?

[ Raises a finger as if to make a point ]
Why else do you think Celestia decides to keep humanity at a low level of technology?

[ so it's like western country and magical science all over again. he gets it now, letting the god know with a slow nod, but goddammit. ]
It's just that was just hoping that you'd still continue to live after we're done here, is all. I'd gladly spare your life, if it makes you feel any better?

[ After all, he's the god of time, the purveyor of entropy, the bringer of death. ]
Perhaps I'll reincarnate into a mortal. I can't promise you that, though.

[ he smiles. ]
I do get it, though. When you're destined to die no matter what, you'll just have to grin and bear it when it finally happens.

Your concern for my existence is appreciated.

[ priorities................... ]

[ Priorities indeed... at least, Forneus is open to humouring him ]

What if I skipped the hangover for you?

[ show him, show him! ]

[ Look he's being nice! ]
But not too often. I'm pretty sure it'll hurt you if you drink too much.

That's not how I was destined to go.

[ Forneus laughs, then moves to the fridge set into one of the walls. He appears to rummage through it for a few moments before producing a bottle of light grape wine. He'll pour a glass for them both. ]
Here ya go.

A toast. To our individual demise.

[ Forneus sounds quite cheerful about their impending deaths. He toasts Figaro and then downs half the glass in one go. ]
