May Mingle: Entombed City
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Everyone's hard work resulted in the gate to upper Dragonspine opening. These ruins have not been traversed in years, if not centuries - everything within has been lost to time and living memory. An entire city has been buried in the snow.

People once lived there. The broken buildings host damaged furniture and weathered streets. There are various cloth-covered mounds in a house here and there, accompanied by a sprig of blue flowers. Someone has laid these people to rest after they passed away.

Traces of technology can be found in the city - golden boxes that contain crystals capable of recording and playing back holograms. One of the boxes introduces this place as Vindagnyr; a land once full of greenery and life. Just what happened to these people? What caused the eternal winter?

The highest point in the city is occupied by a temple built into a Domain. Within the Domain is a pale white tree, split in half by a strange object that has fallen through the Domain's ceiling. This temple was once a site for worship for Vindagnyr's people, and even in death they continue to pray for salvation. The priests have been frozen in ice, and the sheer cold emanating from the Skyfrost Nail makes it obvious that it is the cause of winter.

The city's inhabitants worshipped Celestia. Why then were they left to die?

State of the World

On October 1st, the entombed city of Vindagnyr becomes open for exploration. Travelers can choose to look for clues or try to scavenge the city for ancient materials or tools. Recording boxes all around the city tell stories of Vindagnyr's greener past, and of the days when winter suddenly arrived. This is the cruelty of Celestia that Forneus wished you to see.

Ah, that would be the red on top of my head, of course.

(The thing that's missing, clearly. The only way he can really live up to his name is if he's stained red with the blood of his enemies, of course.)

[Going to pretend that the red probably was a hat or something. Maybe Tsurumaru needs a red hat.]

Should I call you Tsuru or Tsurumaru then?

... I used to have someone call me tiger, but I don't know if that counts.

[Where is this conversation going.]

[cranelike]

Hm? (He tilts his head to the side, looking Roxas over,) A little tiger, huh!

(He doesn't quite see it but maybe Roxas will surprise him.)

I'll have to keep that in mind. (He has expectations now, Roxas.) And what would this tiger's name be?

[Just like Roxas doesn't see the crane thing... but hey, judging people is supposed to be bad and all, right? So he just tells himself that before answering.]

Roxas.

[cranelike]

(Please, Tsuru is so obviously a crane!!!)

Roxas.

(He says it once just to make sure it's right,)

You've just arrived?

[missingache]

[Aren't cats and birds supposed to be enemies then?]

Yeah. Went from one "winter wonderland" to another "winter wonderland"... I don't have to shovel snow here, do I?

[cranelike]

(Most birds don't get along with cats, its true.)

No one has been able to make me.

(Which isnt a yes. But it isn't a no either.)

... They can't pay me enough to get me to shovel snow here.

[He will fight!!!]

[cranelike]

(Claps!!!)

(Yes, good, rebel, Roxas.)

Someone like me isn't suited for clearing snow anyway...

(And he'll turn his body juuust slightly to show the Cryo vision at his waist.)

[Cranes did look like delicate birds... was Tsurumaru delicate?

Roxas blinks when he sees the Cryo vision.]

Oh. I got the same one.

[Let him dig it out of his pocket to show off.]

(Yes. He's so delicate. Except for the fact he's regained his ability to be thrown through walls and get back up like nothing happened. So maybe he isn't that delicate after all. Hm.)

Ah! We're the same!

(He puts one hand on his hip as he speaks,)

Have you practiced with it yet?

[One day Roxas will be sturdier again, too.... one day...]

Not really. I don't know what to do with it... it doesn't feel like the magic I used back home. And I don't have the weapons I'm used to with me, either.

[cranelike]

I never used magic back home. (He waves a hand in the air,) Master handles the magic and I do the fighting.

(They are apparently two different things.)

This mountain has the same magic as us, though. I wonder if that makes it better or worse to try...

[missingache]

Masters back home do both. All of us who fight do both.

[Can't really imagine not using magic and fighting.]

Uh... I don't want to test that. I'm not up for possibly freezing to death.

[cranelike]

Someone has to die eventually.

(To test that death mechanic out that Forneus told him about. But he sure isn't going to give Roxas any context??? SORRY.)

... I know that everyone dies eventually. We shouldn't be hoping for it, though.

[cranelike]

We shouldn't! But there's no denying the inevitable, either.

Ah, you might even be surprised by what happens in the end...

[missingache]

[THAT ACTUALLY SOUNDS CREEPY...]

I know what happens, and I don't want to experience that again.

[cranelike]

(HELLO???)

Oh. I've died before.

[Sort of. Disappeared and went to go hibernate in another heart is more appropriate, but ceasing to exist is pretty much death???]

[Roxas blinks but doesn't pull away. Was Tsuru just making sure he was real?

It's not like Replica hair feels different from human hair. It's just as soft and real.]

[cranelike]

Ah, I thought you would be a spirit... but it looks like you have a body, too.

(Well, since he's real, he'll just pat Roxas's hair back in place. Smooth it down. Make it look nice. There.)
