MAY MINGLE

May Mingle: Entombed City
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.

Everyone's hard work resulted in the gate to upper Dragonspine opening. These ruins have not been traversed in years, if not centuries - everything within has been lost to time and living memory. An entire city has been buried in the snow.

People once lived there. The broken buildings host damaged furniture and weathered streets. There are various cloth-covered mounds in a house here and there, accompanied by a sprig of blue flowers. Someone has laid these people to rest after they passed away.

Traces of technology can be found in the city - golden boxes that contain crystals capable of recording and playing back holograms. One of the boxes introduces this place as Vindagnyr; a land once full of greenery and life. Just what happened to these people? What caused the eternal winter?

The highest point in the city is occupied by a temple built into a Domain. Within the Domain is a pale white tree, split in half by a strange object that has fallen through the Domain's ceiling. This temple was once a site for worship for Vindagnyr's people, and even in death they continue to pray for salvation. The priests have been frozen in ice, and the sheer cold emanating from the Skyfrost Nail makes it obvious that it is the cause of winter.

The city's inhabitants worshipped Celestia. Why then were they left to die?

State of the World

On October 1st, the entombed city of Vindagnyr becomes open for exploration. Travelers can choose to look for clues or try to scavenge the city for ancient materials or tools. Recording boxes all around the city tell stories of Vindagnyr's greener past, and of the days when winter suddenly arrived. This is the cruelty of Celestia that Forneus wished you to see.

echoes of the distant past

(Claude has never been one for the cold and he's made it no secret. For part of their journey, he'd complained about not being able to feel his nose or his fingers. He's openly explained he's from a warm place where even the winters are more cool than cold. And on a more serious note, he mentions that his fingers are so cold, he isn't sure if he can string a bow or ready an arrow like this if things got bad (so hopefully they don't get bad).

His complaints are always in good spirit, more to laugh at himself or to lighten the mood when appropriate. He's no stranger to hardship and can certainly endure if he has to. But after reaching the city and seeing everything for himself, his complaints die down significantly. Being cold doesn't really compare when, well... at least he's alive you know?

It's obvious that others aren't taking what they saw very well and while the necropolis brings back memories of a different kind for him, he's always been able to compartmentalize and put his more personal emotions to the side. He is, after all, a leader, and he has to be reliable.

He circles around towards the edge of the camp, looking for those who want time alone and trying to find those who might be better off with company instead. When he finds Shirou, he tries his luck,
)

Anemo. (The wind magic?) It doesn't make you colder?

(He'd imagine the wind would make the air feel cooler and when it's already cold...

Anyway, he's also carrying a thermos in his gloved hands. Nice, warm, filled with a tea that has been left to brew entirely too long by whoever was in charge while they were out.

A little bit. [He says without looking away from the wind swirling around his arm. It’s easy to picture his real body. He was born into it and this one feels like a coat.]

But if I don’t practice I won’t get better at using this. [By now he can shape the wind a bit. It settles around his hand and up to his elbow as an inhuman hand and arm, the claws catching the light from the camp behind them.

He flexes the fingers and looks up.]

Checking on people?

(He watches the wind take form. It's always interesting to see how other people use their visions. It makes him want to try new things too with his own vision. Maybe he'll come up with some new strategy or scheme to help him in a fight or puzzle challenge,)

Maybe we can practice together sometime, then. It'll be a good way to learn about our own visions and each other's, too.

(He says... without offering any clue about what his Vision is, oops.)

Yeah. It's been a rough day for everyone.

[He snorts and the words seem to make something subtle ease in his expression. He wraps the wind around his other arm letting it mirror the other.]

It has. This isn’t a place for people anymore. [Its a grave. He shakes his head and whatever his thoughts on that he lets the wind dissipate.]

Anyway, any time you want to practice together let me know. I don’t yet fully understand how the elements interact with each other.

[He pauses adding,] I know Anemo can spread the cold and heat. I know nothing about electro. I assume it’s like lightning just controllable?

Probably when we get off this mountain. (He lets out a laugh, a little forced, but it's carefree like he's really trying to lighten the mood,) I'm not much for cold weather so this has been... well, rough.

(But he nods,)

More or less. It's not always that impressive, though. I'd say it's 40% controlling lightning... most of the time, it's shocking myself on doors.

(THE ELECTRO STRUGGLE.)

[That gets quiet laugh out of him. Anyone with fur or feathers can relate to that.]

And Anemo is mostly a pretty breeze. Or a wind wall about 30% of the time.

[Shirou lifts his hand tipped with claws up. He flexes the fingers as if they are his claws. But he can’t feel their shifting. He drops his hand and steps a little closer. He considers it then just shifts into his real form. The wind expands over his arm the fades away.]

Cold weather is harder on you humans. You can stick close to me from time to time. It should help a bit. [Fur and all that.]
