June Mingle: Time For A Hike
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Finally, it's time to leave Death Mountain for warmer climates. THe Travelers will begin their journey from Mondstadt to Liyue on the first of November, after packing up and saying goodbye the Mondstadt's Adventurers' Guild. But worry not - if you ever miss the City of Wind and Song, it's possible to teleport back for a brief visit.

The Travelers will head out of Mondstadt through Stone Gate, cross Dihua Marsh and then reach the Guili Plains. You'll be camping out under the stars on some days, while getting to enjoy various roadside inns on other days - including the famed Wangshu Inn, all under Forneus' bill. But it does bring up a question: where did he get all that mora from?

Speaking of Forneus, it seems that he's too busy to accompany you on this road trip. Instead, Zhongli will serve as his stand-in. For those who do not know him well, he introduces himself as an Adeptus... and also the Geo Archon, who has enlisted your help to test his nation. What will you do?

State of the World

June will be a lighter period in the game for characters to bond with each other while traveling as a group, and later while exploring and trolling Liyue to the best of their ability. Forneus will not be available for the first two weeks as he is busy; instead Zhongli is tasked with answering questions in his place. A reference of the scenery your character might see on the way can be found in this video here! Feel free to check out Liyue's music here as well.

I. Arrival / Archon Statue

[Shocking as it may be, Jun was happy to leave Dragonspine Mountain. Not only that, but after hearing and reading about Liyue for months, the kid was excited to see the place. He's ditched his knight uniform he wore on the mountain for a traveling outfit closer to what the people of Liyue wear. He looks like a normal kid, in other words.

He's in a good mood the whole day of traveling, sometimes quietly enjoying the passing sights, or talking about random trivia he learned about from the books in Mondstadt library. Honestly, this is probably the most chatty he's been among the group, so maybe it's a good chance to get to know him.

Alternatively, when they reach the Archon Statue in the Bishui Plain, he can be found staring up at the statue with utter perplexity - as if there's something about it that he's trying to wrap his brain around it. Huh. ]

II. Wuwang Hill

[Wondering what the creepy and shadowy forested hill near their campground is? Well, don't worry, Jun's got you covered]

Oh, that's Wuwang Hill. I heard that there used to be a sea monster there that'd lure young people into the river with a song. It happened year after year, and now even though the monster's gone, memories from leylines will sometimes recreate the song and lure people to drown in the river just like the monster did...

[He says it in a somber tone. What a tragic and unsettling tale. But before you sit on that too long, he'll add a bit more brightly]

III. Wangshu Inn

[It was nice of Forneus to foot the bill of the inn. Jun had been really hoping to visit this place, and it did not disappoint.

Later in the evening after dinner, Jun can be found on one of the terraces of the inn. He's looking out in the direction of the Guili Plains, his hand on his chin as he thinks out loud to himself]

Wonder if they still grow there ... should probably mark it on a map if I find any for later....

[What could he be talking about?]

( jinx is a simple girl. she is a spooky witch who likes spooky things, and that will not change so easily. it's not unlike something from back home- echoes of magic and monsters acting as if they never left. so when he brightly asks if she wants to see... well, why would she, a reckless goth girl, say no? immediately, she shuts her book and slides it into her shoulder bag. )

Absolutely.

[Jun brightens when she takes up the offer. He's seen Jinx around camp, even if he hasn't talked extensively talked to her one-on-one- he could tell she was a goth. Game recognizes game.]

Haha, I had a feeling you'd say that! Let's go then!

[Yeah let's go explore the creepy haunted place!!!!]

( certainly not the black clothes and the witchy vibes. here? in her good catholic teenagerhood? never. ... wait was her mom even catholic- whatever, didn't matter, they had spooky places to explore.

she's not sure if she expects danger or if she slips the catalyst into her bag as well because she's just used to having to be ready to fight at any given moment, but she waits for jun to lead the way as a proper gentleman who extended an invitation should. )

What do you think the monster was?

[He jokes, it's definitely the goth vibes.

It's good she's going prepared. Jun himself has a bow on his back in case something comes up. If he really needs it, he can summon his sword- but eh, he doubts there's any actual demons left in this wood.

But like a true gentlemen, he'll start heading into the woods! Sure enough, it sure does have a creepy vibe to it. Liyue has a lot of ruins, but these feel more like something you'd see at halloween]

Good question. The stories said sea monster, and since it lured people with songs ... maybe it was a type of siren? It couldn't have been very big if it was in the river.

I wonder if it got stuck? I've heard of animals being displaced in the wake of disasters and unable to get back to where they're supposed to be.

( can't really blame a thing that needs to eat if it can't get back to the usual hunting grounds. ... mostly. she's not that much of a monster apologist.

despite the chill air and the eerie silence, jinx seems right at home honestly. she always liked places like this- even as the sky darkens as they travel further, she can't help but feel content. even the lights that begin to flicker delight her, though she at least doesn't get too close to them. ... it's probably fine. )

Hm, that's a very possible explanation.

[It'd make a lot of sense! He was still learning of the creatures of this world, but the sirens back on earth usually prefered seas and oceans...

Jun too is pretty calm about being this place. He climbs up the steep hills with relative ease, checking back occasionally to make sure Jinx is doing well. At the same time, he's flickering his elemental sight on and off, both of out of habit and to help explore this place further. ]

...This place has higher levels of elemental energy than the areas near the main road. It might've been what drew the monster to this place.

( admittedly, after the ever-icy Dragonspine, the steep but pleasantly stable hill is much more of a relief. it may not be as easy as a city street, but jinx takes to challenges like fish take to water. any space between the two is simply her stopping to observe the world around them from time to time, taking everything in with her breath held until certain things are committed to memory for later. )

You said something about ley lines, right? If those are anything like back home, then that would mean a higher abundance of natural magic- monster and fairy bait right there. I'm sure the two go hand in hand. Of course, that would probably apply to anything, here...

[It's true after Dragonspine anything is a cakewalk. Jun too is taking his time, giving himself opportunity to take in the landscape and everything around him. This wasn't a mission, just an outing- no need to rush.

After a bit more climbing, they reach the abandoned village square. Grass grows between the stone pavement, and the wooden buildings are in complete disrepair. No one's lived here in decades, at least]

Mm, exactly. [He nods. Cool, she knows about leylines. Less explaining he has to do] If I were to guess, this place just naturally attracts monsters and supernatural due to the high spirit energy. The "sea monster" was probably less prolific than the stories suggest, but it was a memorable enough that people attribute it to other unrelated incidents.

II, I apologize for nothing

[Sooga considers the offer for a moment.]

...Do you have a bottle? Another sealable container will likely work as well.

[From his tone, it's obvious that this is a logical thing to ask, and also that it absolutely hasn't occurred to him that this might seem like a really weird non-sequitur to someone who doesn't know how ghosts work in Hyrule.]

[....What. To Jun, that sounds like a complete non-sequitur]

A bottle? For what?

If there is a voice, and it turns out not to be the leylines, it must be a spirit. If we defeat it, we should capture it in a bottle for future use.

[Not that he's ever personally done it due to the rarity of poes, but he really has no reason to believe it wouldn't work.]

[Which would be stupid. Drinking malicious spirits can't be good for your health, even if he suspects several of their compatriots absolutely would do it anyway.]

[There's a soft sound of boots on grass before Shirou joins him. Since they crossed into the new land he has kept mostly to human form. But his clothes remained the same. He glances up at the statue himself and says,]

You can tell how a people feel about their legends and gods by how they shape their statues.

[He puts his hands into his pockets and studies it a little more.] Or so I've heard.

[Ah it's Shirou again. Jun glances over, with slight dismay on his face. Because yes, that is a shirtless statue of his grandpa he's staring at]

Oh yeah? So what do you think this statue says about how they feel towards Rex Lapis...?

[He puts his hands into his pockets and studies the statue as if he were on a case. It's easier than he thought it would be. But then he's seen statues like this before. They rose over time as he led Beastmen again and again to safety.] They respect and reverie him. This could an artistic rendition mean to summarize their feelings towards him and his deeds. Or something he wore when appearing before them as their god.

I'm not about to ask to be sure.

[Shirou blinks and looks at him. Then at the statue. His brows furrow.]

What about them?

[Is he missing something here?]

Jun's shoulder slump]

Please don't make me say it.

[The confusion written on his face only grows. He opens his mouth then closes it and looks back at the statue. There's a slight widening of his eyes when he gets why he is asking the question.

Then he sighs.] ...People always draw their gods as strong no matter how peaceful that depiction. Whether they're realistic or not, I'm still not going to ask.
