JANUARY MINGLE

January Mingle: A Ballad in Goblets
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
You open your eyes to an unfamiliar sight. A cool breeze flits through rustic buildings and sunny streets, carrying the smell of flowers and wine. The very air itself seems charged with mana, the warm pulse of the land palpable beneath your feet. This is a new world, a world where the elements compose all of reality. Before you is a bubbling fountain, and a key is entwined between your fingers. And that weight on your hip? A sparkling bauble that you've never seen before, yet it feels natural, as if it had always been there.

Luckily for you, there's plenty of jobs available for the enterprising Traveler. Be it taking requests from the Adventurers' Guild, or working part-time at one of Mondstadt's many food establishments, Mora is to be had when hard work is involved. The cuisine of Mondstadt is best paired with its wine, served at bars or enjoyed in private with a few friends.
And about that shining gem. locals will tell you that it is a Vision, a sign of favour from Teyvat's elemental gods. With the Vision on hand, you find yourself capable of commanding one of the seven elements. What will you do with this newfound blessing? Use it for good... or for evil?

Glancing at any of the calendars in the city will tell you the current date. August 10th was the day you arrived. As soon as the last minute of August 16th slips away, the world around you changes. A blink, and time itself rewinds by seven days. Looking outside, the mown lawns have regrown, the windmill needs fixing again, and the well is once again full. Just what is happening here? It seems only you, Traveler, remembers the week that never was.
State of the World
For the first two weeks of the game, IC time will be looping from August 10th to August 16th. It's currently late summer in Mondstadt, and the trees are just beginning to turn out their autumn colours. The weather is cool and pleasant, with light showers on Tuesday (11th) and Friday (14th). It's also a good time to go out gathering berries and nature's bounty from Mondstadt's forests and valleys.
These two weeks will let us trial out our commissions and regains system and craft improvements for February onwards. There will be no activity requirements for January, so all threads started during this time period can be used for regains!
For all questions regarding January's mingle and events, please head over to our OOC post.

When the Anemo Archon appears next to him, Zhongli lets out a long sigh. ]
Hello again, old friend.
no subject
And when he arrives: a tall, noble looking man with bright amber eyes . . . heh.
Venti looks him over with a discerning eye -- it's been hundreds of years, after all, and he's not familiar with all of Morax's mortal guises. (Really, Morax has it easy in reverse -- it's not like Venti ever changes his.) But fortunately there's no mistaking it. ]
So it is you I sensed.
[ He takes a seat at the base of the tree, cross-legged. ]
It's been a while, Morax.

[ He doesn't need to explain himself to Venti, because the other Archon would already know his reason for coming. The black seal placed on Zhongli's form is perceptible beneath his clothing, feeding off his divine power like a many-headed serpent. Yet the distinct aura of this seal makes it wholly foreign - neither a punishment from Celestia, nor a curse from the Abyss. All he knew was that the decay ate away at his very soul. He could endure, but for how long? ]
It seems I am in your care, for a change. [ His voice turns resigned - it is quite unbecoming for him to be rendered impotent like this. ]

also it's a little odd being given a once-over by such a little boy, but it's not as though figaro isn't used to it; his young-looking mentors back home used to judge him a lot like this so it's a familiar feeling. so he shrugs off that uneasy feeling and greatly welcomes venti's kind offer. ]
Hm! That seems fair. The idea of traveling to other worlds is not strange to me at all, but this is my first time experiencing it for myself. And the first time I'd like to know upon coming into a new town is trying out their food and drink, if available -- it tells you a lot about the place, after all.
I CANT KEEP MY JOURNALS STRAIGHT
[ Looping their arms together and hauling him in that direction. The Contract is Sealed. ]
It seems to me that upon your return home, [ which he isn't sure will even be possible or not lol ] you'll be a fledgling expert on the topic.
Two of Them
I suppose this isn't your first time meeting an otherworlder, then. Does that go for the townsfolk too?
[ what with how they interacted with him like he already belonged here and all. ]
But if you say that the alcohol is lacking in comparison there, where should I go for the best wine and spirits then? For reference, of course.
[ he just wants to get fuckin plastered, lbr ]

[Forgive him for he knows little of alcohol. Just that one of his subordinates loves the stuff for reasons he's never personally experienced.]

A generous offer, kind stranger! But I'm quite certain that coffee has never once been brewed within this establishment.

[He has a coffee maker on his person. In fact, he's going to set it up right now.]

Rather she gives him a warm smile in response, humming for a moment before giving a nod. Why not, she gets a tour and it beats wandering around by herself for a while.]
Of course, of course. Though where would you like me to start first in our little exchange? I have more than a few stories to share.

He beckons her down one of Mondstadt's side-streets. Less traveled, but not at all without its own destinations. ]
I confess myself a fan of flowers. Why don't you start by telling me of the ones that decorate you so dazzlingly?
i
O-Oh, really? That does sound a little tempting ... who're you?

Aha, how could I forget to introduce myself?
[ He clears his throat and strikes a pose ]
I'm Venti, greatest bard in all the world!
no subject
Ehe, but-- no offense meant to a fellow musician, of course!
no subject
Aha, none taken! I am new to this world, so it's not like I'm on the charts.
[That said... the rivalry has begun. Though mostly he seems more amused than anything]
Though that is a pretty bold claim. Can you back it up?

Spirits, I wonder why. [The sarcasm is heavy, even though his tone stays hushed.] Kid, I'm the last one who's gonna snitch on you, alright?
Who'd you piss off?
no subject
His expression remains perfectly innocent, perfectly full of trepidation. ]
It's . . . it's them--
[ He points, surely to some Knights who are about to apprehend him for some crime or another--
He's just pointing to the three cats milling about nearby, though. ]

...
His voice flattens.]
Is this a joke? It's just strays. You're fine.
[How sad, this poor brat is blind as well as a delinquent.
Maybe he SHOULD snitch. The cart owner's right there. Hm.]

But he would display no surprise that one of the Seven would spy him leaning against one of the back stone walls, just out of reach of the open-air tables. ]
I have no requests, but you're welcome to my mora all the same.
[ It's not like he's fuckin using it. ]
no subject
Ehh? No way, kind sir -- that feels far too much like robbery!
no subject
[ But if Barbatos doesn't want to accept...it's not like Xiao's going to force the matter. ]
Neither of you is very good with this sort of thing, huh...
I
Woah—!
[Aaaand now he's being examined? This is weird? What's even going on...]
I... yes? Can... can I help you...
[...Oh. This... weird bard wants to talk to him further? In exchange for information about the city?
...Well, Rean's done sketchier things for information before, and he is kind of in desperate need for whatever information he can get. Beggars can't be choosers, he supposes. Venti had better saddle up for a light lunch, though, because Rean's pockets aren't exactly loaded.]
I... guess I can spare a bit to talk, if you so insist. Lead the way.
no subject
That's the spirit! Really, though, it's nothing that formal -- I just want to learn more about the new neighbors, that's all! Follow me~
[ Skipping his way down one of the streets that branches off from the main thoroughfare. ]
