JANUARY MINGLE

January Mingle: A Ballad in Goblets
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
You open your eyes to an unfamiliar sight. A cool breeze flits through rustic buildings and sunny streets, carrying the smell of flowers and wine. The very air itself seems charged with mana, the warm pulse of the land palpable beneath your feet. This is a new world, a world where the elements compose all of reality. Before you is a bubbling fountain, and a key is entwined between your fingers. And that weight on your hip? A sparkling bauble that you've never seen before, yet it feels natural, as if it had always been there.

Luckily for you, there's plenty of jobs available for the enterprising Traveler. Be it taking requests from the Adventurers' Guild, or working part-time at one of Mondstadt's many food establishments, Mora is to be had when hard work is involved. The cuisine of Mondstadt is best paired with its wine, served at bars or enjoyed in private with a few friends.
And about that shining gem. locals will tell you that it is a Vision, a sign of favour from Teyvat's elemental gods. With the Vision on hand, you find yourself capable of commanding one of the seven elements. What will you do with this newfound blessing? Use it for good... or for evil?

Glancing at any of the calendars in the city will tell you the current date. August 10th was the day you arrived. As soon as the last minute of August 16th slips away, the world around you changes. A blink, and time itself rewinds by seven days. Looking outside, the mown lawns have regrown, the windmill needs fixing again, and the well is once again full. Just what is happening here? It seems only you, Traveler, remembers the week that never was.
State of the World
For the first two weeks of the game, IC time will be looping from August 10th to August 16th. It's currently late summer in Mondstadt, and the trees are just beginning to turn out their autumn colours. The weather is cool and pleasant, with light showers on Tuesday (11th) and Friday (14th). It's also a good time to go out gathering berries and nature's bounty from Mondstadt's forests and valleys.
These two weeks will let us trial out our commissions and regains system and craft improvements for February onwards. There will be no activity requirements for January, so all threads started during this time period can be used for regains!
For all questions regarding January's mingle and events, please head over to our OOC post.

[When Kou asked for help anyway. Though, he was getting better at offering to help before being contacted. So hey progress.
He turns to eye the bauble the man is holding. Luckily, he does recognize it]
...That's a Vision. It's a gift from the gods in this world that lets someone control a particular element.

I'm not sure what we did to earn a god's favor, but a blessing is a blessing. [ pretty sure bad-mouthing gods who give you shiny baubles isn't a good idea, so, he'll err on the side of caution and be polite about it. y'know. ] Do you know anything about this... 'magic?' [ ......YOU KNOW WHAT: ] --By the way, where did you hear this? I was asking all over yesterday and no one seemed to have a straight answer.
[ ok admittedly, maybe it's because he wasn't really accepting the whole 'magic' bit at the time but look, there's time to criticize his approach later alright ]
no subject
I heard it from a friend.
[That's vague, thanks Jun. ]
And I don't know very much. I'm still learning about this world's magic.
no subject
[ he gestures to the commission board. what's a better way to forge a friendship than to get involved in jobs within a foreign and unknown world tbh?? ]
no subject
...I suppose so.
What's your name?
no subject
Seo Hwi, of Goryeo. [ he completely turns from the board, now, facing Jun properly. ] And you?
no subject
He hesitates for a moment, before deciding to lower his hood. It's not like he can easily hide his identity in this world with his powers gone, and many people have already seen his face- so he might as well be honest. ]
Jun Kohinata. It's nice to meet you, Seo Hwi.
no subject
Just Hwi. We're to be friends, right?
[ wow he's... Yeon's age?? around there... he figured as much from his height but hey, Jun, your hair and eyes are pretty cool man ]
...Do you serve as a soldier in your world? [ he gestures to the hood and uniform. or maybe this is the way nobles dress where Jun's from?? he's curious what it's about! ]
no subject
Haha, alright. You can call me Jun then.
[All and all, this seems like a pretty nice man. Not a bad thing certainly]
Something like that. I fight monsters instead of humans though.

[ it isn’t like child soldiers are anything new — the young often got swept up by war, but... Jun looks soft?! no offense, he just seems like a normal kid, not the kind of battle-hardened sort you’d expect to be tossing at monsters...
can’t wait to see him after a few regains]no subject
They can be, but I don't know to what extent in this world.
[See this is exactly why he wears the hood hwi. Exactly this.]
no subject
Then you can defend yourself. It looks like that might come in handy.
[ Jun has just moved up to his #1 person to ask about monsters sry bro, that’s just the way the cookie crumbles!!! shows up at Jun’s house at 3am with a monster corpse “do you think this is edible”... ]
Have you been beyond the town? We have some freedom, even if we’re unable to go home. Maybe you will see something you recognize. [ since he comes from a monster-world? is the logic here. but like... they could do some exploring either way if Jun wants to get a lay of the land or anything, probably a good idea to take a buddy for that kind of thing, right? ]
no subject
[Sure, it's good to be useful and all. But Jun is well aware it comes at the cost of people being in danger- which isn't a good thing. ]
Not far outside it, no. Just outside far enough to train with my Vision so I wouldn't cause any damage. [He doubts he'll see anything he recognizes since this couldn't be more different than Tokyo, but-] That's not a bad idea though.
no subject
Would you like to go? I haven't seen much beyond the town yet.
[ and having a monster hunter around would be nice? he thinks Jun is some kind of monster mercenary or something... ]
Maybe you could tell me what you know about using this... "Vision?" You're training already? [ badass, Jun. ]
no subject
[Ok he had a weapon but it was currently unusable thanks to his strength being reduced down to tiny boy status.
He almost says no to the second part out of reflex, but oh right- Visions had nothing to do with his seal or the Orden. There was no reason to keep it a secret.]
I could try! We have different elements though, so I don't know how useful I'll be.
no subject
[ he could stand to arm himself, too. not that he's loaded... but a basic bow can't be that expensive?? OR COULD IT... ]
Whatever you can tell me would be a great help. I'll find a way to repay you for your time.
no subject
[He had training in other weapons if need be, but eh, he's not here to brag]
Very well. Come find me when you're ready.
no subject
[ he’s only done a few odd jobs here and there, but... he’s thought about working for the blacksmith. he had experience, and maybe Wagner would want the help. ]
We’ll be careful and save exploring any areas that look dangerous for when we’re armed. On the plus side, you look very light to carry if anything were to happen, so I can get you back to town. Don’t worry.
[ he’s joking.......... or is he ]
no subject
[Never had to worry about weapons when the church would give you them okay
And boy...a size joke. luckily he takes in stride, so Hwi won't die]
Ha, funny.
no subject
... ]
Then, shall we? [ he gestures in the direction of one of the town gates!! yeah!! ]
Have you any allies here, Jun?
no subject
Alright.
[To the gates! Jun will pull up his hood again as they start walking to avoid people staring.
Allies huh? That's a curious word for it. There's people he gets along with, but someone who he'd consider an ally to rely on...]
One.
no subject
[ a pause, and then: ]
I don't ask to pry. My sister was with me, but when I found myself here, she was gone. [ if everyone is in a similar boat, then... well. he's trying to figure out what it means. ]
no subject
[Ah..he's wondering about his sister]
She's likely back in your world still.
no subject
I see... [ ...nothing he can do. ] Then, it's good you have found someone you can trust. You met them here?
no subject
[Jun offers a shrugging gesture]
It's a long story, really.
