May Mingle: Entombed City
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Everyone's hard work resulted in the gate to upper Dragonspine opening. These ruins have not been traversed in years, if not centuries - everything within has been lost to time and living memory. An entire city has been buried in the snow.

People once lived there. The broken buildings host damaged furniture and weathered streets. There are various cloth-covered mounds in a house here and there, accompanied by a sprig of blue flowers. Someone has laid these people to rest after they passed away.

Traces of technology can be found in the city - golden boxes that contain crystals capable of recording and playing back holograms. One of the boxes introduces this place as Vindagnyr; a land once full of greenery and life. Just what happened to these people? What caused the eternal winter?

The highest point in the city is occupied by a temple built into a Domain. Within the Domain is a pale white tree, split in half by a strange object that has fallen through the Domain's ceiling. This temple was once a site for worship for Vindagnyr's people, and even in death they continue to pray for salvation. The priests have been frozen in ice, and the sheer cold emanating from the Skyfrost Nail makes it obvious that it is the cause of winter.

The city's inhabitants worshipped Celestia. Why then were they left to die?

State of the World

On October 1st, the entombed city of Vindagnyr becomes open for exploration. Travelers can choose to look for clues or try to scavenge the city for ancient materials or tools. Recording boxes all around the city tell stories of Vindagnyr's greener past, and of the days when winter suddenly arrived. This is the cruelty of Celestia that Forneus wished you to see.

Yeah! It was great. We did a lot of stuff together. And... [He sighs softly.] It feels complicated? I don't know how to describe it fully, but as happy as I am he's not here, it'd be nice if he was. Doesn't everyone have someone like that?

Even the snow covering things up is an answer. [It will give them a guess of how long it has been. The scents will be gone by now. Long since faded beyond what he could have teased out even if he had his sense of smell.

Have you seen the boxes left out? Those are probably the records. [Records that Forneus wants them to see. But what about...what isn't thought of as important?]

What are some other thoughts you have on 'what's in front of us'?

I never implied you were. I simply thought it would be easier if one of us could focus purely on looking rather than walking, and given the height and weight disparity between the two of us...

But if you would truly rather walk, so be it.

[ As usual, whenever Jun spoke, Ledah listened closely and rather carefully. Though the reason for this time being slightly different from the last time. ]

I see. Then for now, this wouldn't have much relevance except for possibly being used in a ceremony of some sort.

Which, I don't doubt.

[ He'll put it away. He figured the ceremony would, also coincidentally, have something to do with the gods, likely to appease them somehow in some way. Or to use the tree for some other purpose. Well, he didn't think it deserved further scrutiny at this time. ]

[ He fell silent at the bit of rebuttal Rean gave his way, because it was true; all signs pointed towards nothing of the sort. ]

Because there would be no real reason, other than the feeling of being slighted to the point they would not deign to communicate with their worshipers as to why.

[ Ledah wondered if he had any right to say these things himself. He had been ready to get his hands dirty on what he had perceived to be the will of the gods before. But, then again, this situation seemed vastly different—the sacrifice and condemnation of innocent lives were made on a slight, rather than because of a threat.

At this, he followed Rean's gaze to the body. ]

...I can't speak for the gods of this world. But, I'm sure they consider that any of these people doing anything that deviates from a desirable future in their eyes is an offense worth annihilation and retribution. If they have to create a painful future for them in order to rectify it, then it appears it is acceptable in their eyes.

Mm. Whatever magic that crown held seems to have diminished over time. Someone with knowledge of how to work with spirit wood might be able to repurpose the crowns for some other use, but I'm not sure who in Teyvat today has those skills.

[He pause, thinking]

Perhaps the alchemists or the adepti? If I were to guess.

[Which he will be now heading off to do just that!!]

Oh, I think you get what you mean! That's Rean for me. I worry about him, especially when he gets reckless, but I do feel better whenever he's around. Like things are just a little brighter, you know?

It's fine, I'm pretty sure I can handle it. I was just going to ask the Adventurer's Guild what they use for markers, and then decide from there.
