May Mingle: Entombed City
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Everyone's hard work resulted in the gate to upper Dragonspine opening. These ruins have not been traversed in years, if not centuries - everything within has been lost to time and living memory. An entire city has been buried in the snow.

People once lived there. The broken buildings host damaged furniture and weathered streets. There are various cloth-covered mounds in a house here and there, accompanied by a sprig of blue flowers. Someone has laid these people to rest after they passed away.

Traces of technology can be found in the city - golden boxes that contain crystals capable of recording and playing back holograms. One of the boxes introduces this place as Vindagnyr; a land once full of greenery and life. Just what happened to these people? What caused the eternal winter?

The highest point in the city is occupied by a temple built into a Domain. Within the Domain is a pale white tree, split in half by a strange object that has fallen through the Domain's ceiling. This temple was once a site for worship for Vindagnyr's people, and even in death they continue to pray for salvation. The priests have been frozen in ice, and the sheer cold emanating from the Skyfrost Nail makes it obvious that it is the cause of winter.

The city's inhabitants worshipped Celestia. Why then were they left to die?

State of the World

On October 1st, the entombed city of Vindagnyr becomes open for exploration. Travelers can choose to look for clues or try to scavenge the city for ancient materials or tools. Recording boxes all around the city tell stories of Vindagnyr's greener past, and of the days when winter suddenly arrived. This is the cruelty of Celestia that Forneus wished you to see.

Before all of this, I don't believe I could have imagined there would be a group that opposed gods which were not aligned with demons.

[ That being said, he's not surprised about the likely end result of humans rebelling against gods. That may be because he couldn't really imagine mere, plain, and everyday mortals going up against gods.

To be quite honest, Ledah still had no idea how they were going to best gods themselves. But he didn't think it impossible; the war back home had shown gods weren't invincible. ]

...They must think that not changing their approach will lead to ruin. But, they clearly haven't considered that the opposite may be true.

Haha, I could explain...but I'm not sure you want to hear me give a lecture about orbal arts and energy. Let's just say it's the easiest way to cast magic where I'm from.

[ Ledah will just stare blankly at Byakuya's comment about eating. He's gotten used to some of the other's quirky mannerisms, but that didn't mean he found them something he could always respond to.

Though he was five seconds from making an expression of disapproval. This conversation had simply convinced the Grim Angel he will need to continue to keep an eye on him. Sometimes, the fact Forneus recruited this man was something hard for him to fathom. That being said, it's interesting he stated he owed him; at the very least betrayal did not seem likely due to that. But words were insufficient compared to actions down the road. ]

It is good you show loyalty towards our benefactor. We can't have anything impeding our mission.

Though, I assume that by you 'owing' him means that he gave you something for your assistance.

[ He'll finally stop looking around; there's nothing of interest in the immediate area. Or that was what he concluded so far. ]

[ Forneus peers at him ]

Do you have any alternative suggestions, then?

There were worlds populated by four-legged elephants with diamond torsos living symbiotically with trees that produce wheel fruit for them to travel with. There were worlds devoid of all life save for large ossified stars that roll across the dunes in an endless migration. Fact is often stranger than fiction.

Like, try not to die? I have to revive you if you do.

[ Oof. Forneus quickly vanishes his scythe and dashes to where Jun landed. ]

Hey man, you ok?

[ He can heal, though he's not going to offer it immediately. ]

[That... really is strange, and it makes her chuckle under her breath for a moment.]

There really is all sorts... But you're right about that. My friends and I recently found out about this old, observing alien race which is also the origin of my friends weapon. All big sci-fi stuff, but it's really happening.

[ Pause. ]

They kind of keep away from me though. Figures they might not want me to pierce their secrets.

[ he gives her a nod before waving at her to come follow him further into the campsite, where it's much warmer thanks to the nearby fire. ]

Here, make yourself comfortable on this cot. Would you like some sugar?

[ just going to offer her a bowl full of magical sugar crystals. surely his fellow adventures have heard of doctor figaro's magic sugar, right? ]

[Jun will move to sit up with a slight grunt. Ok, so maybe asking for a god to fight him was not his smartest plan. He feels pain from that blow, but it's not bad enough to feel like he's dying or anything, so he'll just push through it. It's fine! ]

I'm fine.

[(There is a chance it's not fine and he'll have to hit up Rose for healing later. But that's his own stupid fault lbr here.)]

The worlds are connected, is that what you were getting at?

The Grigori? Yeah, they're really secretive and shit. Figures they wouldn't like you much... I'm guessing they're one of the dimensional types if you know them.

[Which makes sense for a race that observes everything. Though her words trail off as she frowns, humming under her breath for a moment.]

Though one of them we met, I think they had a few screws loose. They didn't mind telling us... Well, a lot of things. I don't trust them.

You're making it sound like a contest where the one who picks the most flowers wins.[ he laughs. ] All right, all right. I'll lead the way. I'm not getting any younger either.

[ there's a patch of flowers growing beneath one of the dead trees nearby, so figaro will make their way towards that. ]

You can do that?

[ show him, show him! ]

[ figaro holds up his hands like whoa there boy....... ]

Could be. There's not a lot we know about them right now, since there's so elusive... If only there's a way to wrangle out more information from them, like an insider.

[ oh, she actually took him up on his offer. figaro actually blinks in surprise when she links arms with him. ]

Eh? I'm not a little child that can easily get lost, you know? [ he laughs. he's just that used to being alone. ] But if you insist. We should look around and see what the other looters might've missed.

[ since they aren't the first people who've set foot here, apparently. ]

[ Is peace a surprise, then? To someone who has only known war? ]

You will find plenty of surprises here, I am sure.

[ Zhongli had sensed Rose's approach through the earth, and thus there was no surprise when she arrived to speak to him. His countenance is the same as ever; a quiet, reliable calm tempered by his reserved expression. ]

[ He waits for her to bring up what troubles her. ]

[Ok so maybe asking a god to attack him enough to hurt was a Bad Idea. Jun had hoped that the pain would go away after he walked it off, but as time went on and it didn't subside- he came to the conclusion that maybe he had actually injured himself. Whoops.

So reluctantly, it was time to go get healed. One healer immediately springs to mind, as she's offered several times, so that means Rose will get the shrouded Jun approaching her]

Rose, are you free right now?

At least you had snow to cushion your fall, so it's not all bad.

[Did she crash land a lot back when she first arrived? Absolutely.

And her grin now takes a turn for the sheepish, giving a shrug of her shoulder in response.]

And yep. I eventually got the ability to fly back, so best thing to do now is wait it out... Though I'm not really sure why we can't fly at first.

[ Zhongli's voice sounds light - he's proud of Liyue and the land he shaped with his own hands. ]

You can see other nations from those peaks. [ The closest that the earth could get to the sky. ] No matter what season graces the land, the air in Jueyun Karst remains clear and pure.

[ It's one of the reasons the Adepti like it so much.

What are demons, if not gods painted with a different brush?

[ Morax would never say such a thing, but Zhongli the mortal would. ]

For those as eternal as Heaven, they rarely tolerate dissent, or consider it productive. And when words fail to sway the hearts of the prideful, then only surreptitious change remains....

[ He ends the statement with a sigh, as if he had been contemplating it all as some sort of hypothetical. ]

Perhaps the outlanders are capable of overturning their perspective without bloodshed.

Any kind of jerky is fine. [He eats all sorts of things but this is the best.] As long as it’s meat.
