October Mid-Month Event
Welcome to Teyvat - a vast magical world of adventure.
Two weeks after the Travelers arrive in Inazuma, the conflict between the Shogunate and the Sangonomiya Resistance begin to intensify. At Forneus' behest, you venture west to survey the battlegrounds and consider your next move.

Once again, a stalemate that can only be broken from the outside. This isn't anything new now, is it?
State of the World
The Sangonomiya Resistance have declared civil war on the Shogunate after the establishment of the Vision Hunt Decree. As you travel through Inazuma, you will eventually meet them, as well as their leader. It becomes evident that the two sides are locked in equal balance, and that the civil war does nothing good for anyone... which is why the overseer of the Narukami Shrine has asked you to come. You are unbound by any destiny, and thus able to tip the scales. But to do that, you will need a complete picture of the situation, and to solve problems that no one is willing to face.
No one has seen the Shogun out in public for quite a while. It seems that only a sufficiently grave danger will provoke her from within her castle. The enemy of eternity is change, and you are just that.

Yes, and? That guy's a real busybody for a time god. That's why we're all here in the first place.
[Jun's perspective may be a bit skewed ok.]

no subject
...Suppose that's true.

So are you saying you're better at noticing when someone likes you?
no subject
[He is, in fact, just as bad.]
no subject
So just as bad then, got it.

Wow. Geez, Jun, tell me how you really feel.
no subject
[That's how he feels]
I was just drawing a conclusion from your own words.

You do?

[He gestures to his...everything.]
What, you think I'm allowed to give a fuck? My hair's naturally white and I have a familiar. I appreciate other people who also give no fucks.
no subject
Seems like you give plenty of fucks to me.
no subject
[August has spent all twenty-two years of his life not giving a fuck...mostly. The hair is a complicated, uncomfortable topic.]

You're a queer half-demon with magic powers from a small American town. Meaning you were a misfit and got treated poorly for it. In response, you try to act like you don't care to protect yourself.
But you do. You care a lot. Negative attachments are still attachments. Not a day goes by where you don't think about it. Or about what others around you think of you.
[...]
We're not the same. [Then, softer] That isn't a bad thing.
no subject
He just sort of stares at Jun for a moment, more than a little surprised.]
Okay, one? Good god don't call me out like this. But also, like. I dunno what your deal is, but my "not giving a fuck" is...probably different from yours, yeah.
[He's getting the feeling Jun just. didn't have a choice like August did.]
I still appreciate that you don't, and that you don't seem to care that other people might kinda wish you did. It's refreshing.
no subject
...But perhaps he does feel a little bad for airing out August's dirty laundry just a moment ago. There's a lot he's not allowed to say, but he can at least throw the guy some bone]
I'm a servant of the Lord. It's my duty to exist in the shadows and do whatever needs to be done to protect the world.
As such, I was raised to view attachments as obstacles. [a pause, before he admits] Though, I don't follow that belief as strictly these days.

August's first thought is "see, this is why I don't like most churches" but he quickly shoves that to the side since that is just. Not the thing to say right now, wow.]
Yeah, uh, didn't think Christianity had warrior monks. Wow. Uh. You said you're moving past that?
no subject
Most people don't. [Thus the whole working in the shadows deal]
In a sense. There are some things and people I do care about. [...] However, I'm still committed to performing my duties.
[So uh. That's a small comfort, huh.]
no subject
And your duties are? ...obviously not killing demons, thanks for that.
no subject
Killing demons is a duty.
However, you're not a threat.
